Feeling Accomplished-China Cabinet Makeover

These days, if I take a shower before 5pm I am feeling accomplished!  So on Friday when I finally re-did my china cabinet, I was feeling really accomplished!  Our dining room furniture was my grandparent's and they gave it to us when we got married.  It has looked like this since we moved in almost 7 years ago.  I was getting a little tired of it so decided to change it up a bit.

I emptied everything out of it and stored the china and crystal underneath.

Side note- while I was doing this project, there was a baby robin on the window sill and these two cardinals were trying to attack it!  I kept having to bang on the window to save the robin.  Haha!  They eventually moved on.  Hopefully the baby robin survived!

I bought two yards of fabric at Joann's to line the back of the cabinet.  The fabric (and total cost of the whole project) was $18.00.  Yes, I know this fabric should probably be going the other way but this is the way it fit.  :)  So you might want to think about that when buying fabric.  I wanted something light and bright and I'm always drawn to green.

I used hot glue to glue it on, starting in one corner.  I like using hot glue because it won't ruin the wood and easily peels off.  I just put a few dots of glue about every 10-12 inches.

When I got to the end I cut it to fit.

As you can see, I didn't even trim off the raw edges.  You cannot even notice it in real life.  Also, you do not see the wrinkles in real life either.  ;)

There was a little left over on the bottom but I just left it.  I knew I wouldn't be able to get a straight line by cutting it and with the accessories in, you don't notice it.

I wanted to fill up the cabinet with things I already had.  When we moved Westin to his new room we had to clean out the closet which was full of all my accessories.  We moved everything out to a storage cabinet in the garage.  So, I went "shopping!"  :)

I loved that I got to bring in some of my favorite items that had been in storage.

I gathered what I wanted to use and then started placing the bigger items.  I was going for a casual, built-in bookcase feel.

I love our framed wedding invitation and monogrammed toasting goblets.

Like I said, I did this on Friday....Cody noticed Sunday night.  :)

Relaxing Week

Very random post!

Reagan and I have been enjoying a nice relaxing week getting to know each other because Westin's wonderful grandparents are keeping him this week.  Cody's parents and my parent's have split the week with him and he is getting majorly spoiled!  I'm not supposed to lift anything over 15 pounds for 6 weeks but that is obviously not going to happen.  Thanks to my mom staying 11 days after Reagan was born and then taking Westin back to Little Rock, I will make it close to 3 weeks.  I cannot bear to not pick him up any longer!

Reagan has been doing a lot of snoozing this week.  It seems like all my pictures of her are sleeping because that is all she does!  I hope she doesn't get used to the quiet this week while Westin is gone.  :)

I love spring!!  I love watching everything bloom, watering my plants, and bringing some inside to enjoy.  One of my favorite plants is my snowball bush.

This bouquet had to get a light spray of Raid before it came in because ants love this plant as much as I do.

On Wednesday, Reagan turned 2 weeks old!  I think time flies even faster with a second baby.

While I was in the hospital, my Dad and Cody planted Reagan's pink dogwood!  I'm already looking forward to next spring to see it bloom!

I haven't read a book in so long and I really missed it.  I decided to start reading this week because I have so much time on my hands (and I cannot nap during the day).  So on my first time to drive in two weeks, we went to the book store and got this book.  I LOVE this trilogy!  I've read them at least 2 times already but it has been several years.  If you haven't read the Mark of the Lion books by Francine Rivers, please do!  You will not regret it.  I have made all my friends read them and they love them too.  You really cannot put them down.

My china cabinet has looked like this since we moved in almost 7 years ago.  I've had the itch to re-decorate it for awhile now.  I want a more casual feel to it, almost like a built in bookcase.  I also want to only use things I have around the house, with the exception of maybe some scrapbook paper or wrapping paper to line the back of it.  Hopefully I can get this done before Westin comes home on Sunday.  If not, it will give me something to work on next week.

I hope y'all have had a good week too!  Thanks for reading my totally random post!  :)

Easter 2012

Better late than never!  This year my mom took Westin to a helicopter egg drop and she said he couldn't take his eyes off the helicopter!  He got four eggs and that was with the help of Gran and Zach giving him one of his.  He loves airplanes and helicopters!

On Easter Sunday, he woke up to his Easter bucket from us.  Reagan only got a stuffed bunny this year.  :)

Westin gave Reagan her bunny and now he always wants her to have it.  If he sees that she doesn't have the bunny he will go find it and give it to her.

Reagan got an Easter basket from Gran and G-Daddy though!  Diapers and a bath tub tea set.

We went over to Jason and Katie's house for Easter lunch.  Katie and my mom did a wonderful job cooking a delicious meal!  I know I keep saying it but, four days after I had Westin I was barely able to walk.  Four days after having Reagan I felt good enough to get out for the afternoon.  I am so thankful for this recovery!

After lunch everyone played outside the rest of the afternoon.

Westin, Zach and Colson got their Easter baskets from Gran and G-Daddy and even got one from Gigi and Papa!  They were happy boys with their candy, airplanes, helicopters and monster trucks!

The day after Easter, my mom and I put Reagan in her bunny shirt that I made before she was born.  I actually thought she wouldn't be able to fit in it (it looked SO small!) but it was a perfect fit for a few days.  ;)

We got a picture of Westin in an Easter basket so we had to get one of Reagan too.  Sometimes I just wonder what they are thinking! Ha!

We had a wonderful Easter this year!  Even though we weren't able to go to church, we have the privilege of celebrating our RISEN Savior every day we are alive.

Reagan's Birth Day

We are getting used to being a family of four around here.  So far it hasn't been that big of an adjustment thanks to my mom being here all week!  Also, Reagan is a pretty easy baby right now too.  She only got up once last night but I know it is different every night right now.  She nurses great and is already back to her birth weight.  Westin is adjusting well and LOVES to kiss her all the time.  He is really sweet and gentle with her but has started showing a little jealousy.  I'm not sure if he is jealous or is just being a wild two year old.  :)

The night before Reagan was born we got some pictures of our family of three.

Gran got Westin a big brother shirt that he was proud to wear!

The day she was born she looked exactly like Westin.  She had already changed the next day and now she doesn't look as much like him.  She definitely resembles him in some of her facial expressions but a lot of people are saying she looks more like me.

When she came out and they held her over the curtain my first words were, "Why is she so small?!"  Haha!  I'm not sure what I was thinking but in my mind I just knew she was going to be a big baby.  I'm going to blame that on the drugs.  :)

We tried to get a picture with her birthday sticker from Watch Me Grow but it was a challenge!  She has her hands up over her face in almost every picture.  She must have been like that in the womb because you couldn't pry them down if you tried.
Westin entertained himself with the grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.  He also had fun with tissue paper and the socks they gave me to wear.
First family picture.
The day after she was born I thought it was time to dress her up.  This sweet little gown was a gift from Kari Beth.  It was a perfect fit!
Right before we left to go home.  This was such a different experience than with Westin.  I couldn't even stand up to walk to the car with him without getting dizzy.  Leaving with Reagan and actually walking out of the hospital with little pain was a wonderful feeling!  Notice her hands in the picture below.  That is how they are almost all the time.

Just ignore the quadruple chin.  Haha!  Westin wore this same gown home except his was trimmed in blue.
Two kids in the backseat!
Westin loves to kiss her all day long.

Yesterday she turned one week old!

We celebrated her one week birthday with her first bath.  Ha!  We kept forgetting and I wanted to wait until Cody could do it with us, so last night it was finally time.

She did not enjoy her bath one bit but she did like having her hair washed.  Westin gets concerned when she is crying and was trying to put her paci in for her.  Such a sweet brother!

Thank you all for praying for a safe delivery and for all the congratulations!  The delivery and hospital stay could not have gone better.  Thank you!  I hope to post some Easter pictures next and then hopefully be caught up!

She's Here!

I didn't mean to leave y'all hanging.  We had terrible Internet service at the hospital so I couldn't blog.

Reagan arrived just as planned on Wednesday at 8:47am.  She was 7 pounds even and 19" long.  This experience was so different than last time and I am so thankful!  I couldn't believe I was up walking around that night and the next few days.  It has been wonderful!  Here are a few pictures and I will post more soon.

Family picture!

Dress up time.

Family picture before we left today.

Coming home.  She did great in the car and it was so weird to have two kids sitting back there!  :)  I'll update more soon!
