Stella & Dot

I love all the bright, fun colors of the new spring/summer line from Stella & Dot!  This necklace is so pretty!  Westin would LOVE it if I wore this and he could play with it all day.  :)

These pretty bangles would be perfect paired with the necklace too!

I'm usually more of a dangle earring girl but I really like these studs.

When you stop by Stella & Dot, don't forget to stop by the sale!  They have great pieces in there right now!

Thank you!

Twice As Nice Lettering

Twice As Nice's etsy shop is full of fun vinyl images, monograms and quotes!  I love these little birds.  I have two "sitting" above the door in my laundry room and I see them every time I walk in from the garage.  They are just just something a little unexpected and fun.

I currently have this quote that I need to put on a board or canvas to hang in our laundry room.  I'll be sure to show you when I finish it.

When I was thinking about things to go above Westin's crib I kept looking at these bird cages.  His ceiling is vaulted so I knew the chains would have to be realllllly long to work but I thought they would be so cute!  They would fun in a kid's bathroom too.
Remember, all their items come in several colors and fonts.  They also do custom orders!  They are definitely your go-to vinyl shop

Thank you!

Westin's Monthly Pictures Stand

I am gearing up for Westin's first birthday party and it is so fun!  Here is a little sneak peak of his monthly pictures that will be displayed at the party.  I got this idea from THIS blog and adapted it to match Westin's party theme.

When I was in Little Rock a couple of weeks ago I had my dad drill 13 holes into this scrap piece of wood.  Twelve for this monthly pictures and one for a little sign that says, "My first year."  He measured my wooden dowels to make sure the holes were the right size.
I then stapled some fabric to the board.
On the bottom of the display board I hot glued felt so it would be more level and not scratch the table.

I then painted my wooden dowels white and then hot glued the ball on top.  After I glued it on top I painted it red.  It is much easier to paint a ball when it is stuck to something else and cannot roll away!  Seems very obvious but somethings you just have to find out on your own.  Haha  Obviously you don't have to glue a ball on top, I just thought it went better with his carnival theme.
Once I found all the holes in the board, I used a corn cob holder thingy to rip the fabric a little bit so the dowels would stick in with out pulling the fabric.  Does that make sense?  It was the only thing I had that was skinny enough and sharp enough.

I used scissors and trimmed some of the dowels to be shorter than the ones in the back and the front dowel to be even shorter.
To attach the pictures I used scrapbook glue.  Since his party is on his actual birthday we will do his monthly picture the day before so I can get the picture printed.  I printed his pictures at Samsclub.com in a wallet size so they would fit.  (you might have to click on the picture to see it better)  I'm not very good at explaining what I did so I hope all that makes sense!  Haha  If not, I Heart NapTime probably does a much better job!

Plant Markers

*Don't forget to enter the Longaberger Giveaway HERE.  Winner announced Tuesday night.

**I still haven't heard from the winner of the Thirty One Gifts Giveaway.  Sarah Robbins?  Email me if that is you.  :)

***I apologize in advance for the pictures in this post.  They are not the prettiest because I took them yesterday evening with little light.

Have you seen the Plant Markers in the Target Dollar Spot?  There is a bag of 5 markers with a black marker for one dollar.  You can't beat that!  I bought three packs because I know I will use them for all sorts of things.

I used the marker to write on one to test it out and then realized it is a permanent marker.  I thought it was a dry erase marker!  Haha  That wasn't going to work so out came my trusty chalkboard paint.  ;)

I think I kind of like this look better anyways.  Since I am not going to use them outside, I don't have to worry about the rain erasing my writing.  Of course, if you are going to use these to actually mark plants then you would want to use the permanent marker since they will probably outside in the elements.

I plan on using some to put in small potted plants that I will be giving as gifts.  Yesterday I used one of the packs around the house.  Katie gave us this plant in August on Reese's birthday so I put Reese's name in it.  Every time I see it I think of Reese and pray for Jason and Katie.

I stuck one in the dying plant on our dining room table.

I also stuck one in the dying plant behind our kitchen sink. (Not sure why this font is centered....)

I even stuck one in the fake plant in the guest room.  :)

I think one would also be cute sticking out of a cake or pie.  I would love to plant some herbs and use them in those but that is just not going to happen.  Haha  How would you use them?

Winner and Wonderful Weather

*** Don't forget to scroll down one post to enter the Longaberger giveaway!

The winner of the Thirty One Gifts giveaway is #127, Sarah Robbins.  Congratulations!  Email me (row35401 at yahoo dot com) and I will get your info to Dana.  Thank you to everyone who entered!

I forgot to tell y'all that I got the yellow Clarisonic for Valentine's Day!!! I'm so excited!  I love it!  :)  Cody totally surprised me with it too.  He had me convinced that he had forgotten about V-day.  He gave it to me Sunday night because he couldn't wait any longer.  ;)

On Thursday we enjoyed the beautiful 70 degree weather.  When Cody got home from work we walked to the park behind our house.  This was Westin's first wagon ride outside.  I pull him through our kitchen and living room but we haven't been able to go outside until Thursday.  He LOVED it!

Every time I would turn around to look at him, he would smile so big!  I think he would have been happy to ride in it for hours.

How is he old enough to be "playing" at a park?!  I'm sure you are sick of hearing me say it but I just canNOT believe he will be one in two weeks!  Where did the time go?  I mailed his party invitations yesterday and I actually teared up walking to the mailbox!!  I'm crazy!  I absolutely love the stage he is in and I love watching him grown and learn new things daily but it truly feels like just yesterday that he was a tiny 5 pound 14 ounce baby.  Okay, I have to quit talking about it!  Haha  I hope y'all have a fabulous weekend!

Longaberger Giveaway!

Julie with Longaberger is offering some great deals and a gift certificate giveaway for you today!  My mom and I love searching for baskets in flea markets and antique stores and always admire the Longaberger baskets.  The quality is amazing and I'm so glad they are still making them today.

Simplifying

As I mentioned in a previous post, I am simplifying table tops and counter tops for a fresh look and also to help in cleaning.  It has worked!  I don't completely dread dusting and cleaning the house now.  ;)  I took everything off the guest bath counters and started from scratch.  Now I have only three things total on them.

I love these fun soap pumps from Target.  They have them in clear glass and this green-ish glass.  I just buy the cheapest CLEAR soap I can find to fill it up.  I didn't want to ruin the look of the glass with a colored soap.
For the dining room I added a colorful tray that I already had and a grouping of silver candle holders.  My poor plant has seen better days.  I've had it for awhile so I might re-plant another one soon.
My favorite part of simplifying is having more counter space to cook (bwahhhahhhahahh!).  In my case it is about having more space to bake.  ;)
By the kitchen sink I put THIS lamp from IKEA and framed a bible verse.  I just printed it out in a font I liked on regular printer paper because I wanted to keep it simple.  I also printed out several verses and already have them cut and in the back of the frame.  So I can change them out very easily.

*Don't forget to scroll down one post and enter the 31 Gifts giveaway!

**Expecting A Blessing is hosting an amazing adoption auction to help with the expenses of their upcoming adoption.  There are some amazing things up for auction!  If you would like to look around and maybe help them on their journey, click HERE.

***Also, I've gotten some emails about some problems some of you are having commenting.  First of all, someone said in order to comment they are taken to a screen telling them they have to subscribe to a feed.  I haven't heard of this before.  Is this a setting on my blog or theirs?  They are reading in a reader but my blog is the only one they have a problem with.  I'm confused!  :)

****If you are still having trouble commenting, try this: Be sure you are on my whole blog, not just the current post.  Also, try highlighting the area where the comment button should be and you will see it.  I'm sorry this is so complicated! I'm not sure why it works for some and not for others.  Thanks for always being such loyal readers and letting me know when there is a problem!

Happy Valentine's Day!

                                                        Card designed by Artistic Designs

Thank you all for your advice on cleaning!  Sounds like bar keepers friend for the sink is what the majority of you use.  I plan on trying that and some of the other things you mentioned.  Thank you!

Also, thanks for your comments on the red dye allergy.  I have noticed it seems to be with things that have "red dye #40" or "red color" in it.  I went to the natural food store and got him the Earth's Best breakfast bars and he loves them just as much and no red cheeks!  So far his symptoms are just red cheeks.  No behavior changes yet, but that is not to say that couldn't change when he is older.  I'm glad it is something we caught and can watch closely.  Thank you for your suggestions and advice!  Another interesting fact....his cheeks were always SOO red after he would nurse.  I had a thought this morning to look at the ingredients in my body wash (Oil of Olay Body Ribbons), and sure enough, it has red color in it.  Hmmmm  Won't be using that anymore!  :)

I'll be introducing my new sponsors this week and have a fun giveaway coming up!  Also, I'm going to show a project I have been working on for Westin's party.  :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Random Friday

With all the snow we have gotten this week (about 20"!) I have been a little unmotivated.  The first snow day I was very productive and unpacked from our trip and cleaned the whole house.  The second snow day I just caught up on some TV shows while Westin napped.  Both days were fun but now I'm looking forward to getting out today.  I have a bunch of random thoughts in my head right now so I thought I would list them out.

1.  I'm asking for THIS for Valentine's Day.  I told Cody it came in a lot of colors but I would leave the color choice up to him.  ;)  I'm secretly hoping for the yellow or aqua.

2.  Have any of you tried the new Suave shampoo Rosemary + Mint?  Oh my!  It smells so good!

3.  If you have a glass shower or glass shower doors, what do you use to clean it?

4.  If you have a stainless steel sink, what do you use to clean it?

5.  I'm so excited about Westin's party!  Our guestroom has been come the landing site for all the decorations and food.  I was in there the other day just looking at it all and Cody asked me what I was doing.  I told him I was just looking at everything and that this room has become my favorite room.  Ha!  I know I'm going overboard but I just love details and parties.  It is a true labor of LOVE.  I'm excited!

6.  I'm in a major simplifying mood.  When I worked full time I had a cleaning lady and it was wonderful!  Now that I'm staying at home, I clean the house myself.  So in order for it to go faster I have cleared my table tops and counter tops a lot.  To some it might feel like there is still a lot of stuff around but to me it looks so bare!  :)  I'm getting used to it though and loving it.

7.  Here is Westin's precious new cousin, Bentley.  Cody's brother and sister-in-law had him on Jan. 31st.  He is a cutie!  I'm looking forward to Westin and him playing together in the years to come.

8.  I think Westin has an allergy to Red Dye in foods.  His cheeks get BRIGHT red if he eats anything with it.  He had been eating some cinnamon apple puffs and for about a week (as long as he was eating them) his cheeks were so red.  It was the beginning of winter and I thought they were getting dry and chapped.  Someone stopped me at Hob Lob and told me about how their son had the same cheeks.  That tells you how bright they were.  It looked odd.  They told me it could be the red dye.  Sure enough, I looked at those puffs and they had red dye.  I gave him a strawberry Nutri-Grain bar the other day and immediately his cheeks turned red.  I looked on the box and it has it in there.  I was so sad because he loved them!  Have any of you dealt with this?  What are some other foods I should stay away from?  I always look at the ingredients but I didn't think even think about the Nutri-Grains having it.  This is just a self diagnosis...I haven't talked to his Dr. about it yet.

9.  I was trying to get to number ten because I hate ending on odd numbers....

10.  Have a wonderful weekend!  Any fun Valentine plans?

Thank you!

Eleven Months

Westin was eleven months on Saturday!  We were at my parent's house so we didn't get his monthly picture until today.  He is changing and growing up so fast!  Last night it just kind of hit me while I was watching him and I teared up thinking about how big he looks.  He is becoming more of a toddler but he will ALWAYS be my baby.  It seems like this past month he has changed more than ever.  Here is what he is up to:

-Size 3 diapers, size 4 overnight.
-Size 6-9 or 9 month clothes, 12 month pjs.
-I sat him on our scale and he was 18.5 lbs
-Nurses 3-4 times a day.  We might be ready to cut out the noon feeding.
-Eats breakfast, lunch and dinner and is adding more and more table foods to his likes.
-Has been eating us out of house and home of turkey.  His new favorite table foods are chicken, apples and pancakes.
-After eleven months it seems like he is really getting into his naps.  :)  Naps twice a day around 9:30 or 10 and 1:30 or 2 for close to 2 hours each.
-Goes to bed around 7:30-8 and wakes up around 7:30-8.  Of course with a middle of the night snack.  ;)
-Still sleeps in a sleep sack and has started sleeping with a little lovie (similar to THIS one) in his bed.  He finds it in the night and usually puts it close to his face.
-Crawled on his hands and knees yesterday.  He has done it several times since.  I just figured he would always army crawl but this is just as cute!  Haha
-Wants to pull up on everything.  Always gets to his knees but has to work at getting to his feet.  He has done it once by himself so far.
-Still LOVES bath time.  I was cleaning his tub the other day and he cried so hard when I turned the water off and didn't put him in. I guess he thought I was about to bathe him.  :)
-Still loves his Baby Einstein and Praise Baby DVD's, playing with his toys and trying to walk in his friend's walker.
-Has officially outgrown the swing and excersaucer.
-Holding steady with 2 bottom teeth.
-When you get behind him to hold his arms so he can walk he takes off running at FULL speed.  I've never seen little legs move that fast.  Absolutely hilarious and a little scary to think about when he does start walking.

We are getting sooo excited about his first birthday!  I have loved planning it and loved making it extra special for him.  I know he will not remember it but I just can't wait!  I do know that I will be shedding some tears though.

Westin, we love you so much and canNOT imagine these past 11 months without you!  What did we do before you?

Thank you!

Cousin Love

Westin and I escaped the big snow storm up in Northwest Arkansas this week and came to Little Rock to stay with my parents.  I did not want to risk loosing power! The funny thing is that now it is snowing in Little Rock and is supposed to snow on Monday, the day I'm going back.  ;)  My parents are also keeping Westin's cousin this week.  Westin and Colson seem to really be enjoying each other!  It is funny to watch them interact.

Even Westin can't resist squeezing Colson's kissable cheeks!

This last picture makes me laugh.  That little dog barks and his tail wags.  Colson loves it and laughs at it and Westin is kind of scared of it!  Hahaha  He was frowning at him in this picture.
Westin also got to meet his brand new cousin, Bentley this week but the picture wouldn't upload for some reason.  I'll introduce him to you later.  ;)
