A Milestone

Well, it might not technically be a milestone but it sure feels like it to me.  Westin had his first day of Mother's Day Out today.  After researching a couple of places we decided on one that sounds like a great fit for Westin.  It is small and the hours are from 9-1.  He will only go on Mondays and my favorite part is that they do not take naps.  I just couldn't see Westin sleeping at school so I was happy about this.  I thought that might freak him out a bit.

He was all smiles this morning before we left.

His backpack is so cute and pretty much as big as him.

Once we got there, however, his smiles disappeared and he was a little nervous.

Once we got in the room he completely lost it and I almost did.  I at least held it together until I was back in the hallway.  I definitely shed a few tears as I was watching him through the one-way window.  I know this is just a part of growing up (for him and me!) and it will be good for both of us.  I just hope he gets used it pretty quickly.

Elizabeth is also taking Asa once a week and his room is next door to Westin's.  We had to get a picture of the brave Mama's before we left.  :)  My plan today is to stay busy but I am already looking forward to 1:00!

I only "know" you through your blog but have grown quite fond of your sweet family. ;) Westin is a beautiful little boy! Hang in there. He will grow to love it and so will you. It's amazing what you will be able to accomplish in those few hours, and the space will do you both good.

Okay, he looks so big in the pictures of him wearing his backpack!! I looked into sending Amelia but just can't do it yet. Maybe next year! :) I'll pray Westin loves it and there are no tears next Monday. :)

My Oldest (4yr old) started preschool last week! The first day was the hardest....for both of us! By the third day (he goes four days a week)I was making a dent in the to-do list and was able to do it in the quiet of the house while the baby was sleeping! By 1pm when he gets home I am so ready for him to be home....but those first couple of hours are sure nice! :)

I hope he gets used to it soon too! S has gone to Sunday School without crying 7 times now--in his whole life! And they have been in succession. I guess he finally just decided it wasn't worth the fight. Also, I STILL cannot get him to put his back pack on his back. "Mommy hold it," he says. He's got me right where he wants me--I guess not for much longer, bless his heart.
I hope you and W both had a GREAT day! (And I totally get you on the nap thing--that would never have worked for S either).

Awwww....hang in there Mama....he will learn to love it there with his friends! Cannon's big day is on Wed (he will be going Mon/Wed/Fri from 9-2 each day - eek!!!)...I am DREADING it - I can only imagine how much he is going to FREAK out! We have been 'visiting' his new room each day when we pick up his big sister who goes to the same school to hopefully lessen the shock - who am I kidding??? Can't believe these boys are getting so big...time has flown by for sure!

Oh and of course Westin is such a cutie - love his backpack! :)

He looks awfully cute! He and Lane have the same backpack too! Lane goes on Wed/Fri from 9-2:30 and is doing well! He started 2 weeks ago, and still gets upset when he is dropped off, but is fine a few minutes later according to the teacher. You will love getting all of the cute artwork and his daily "report card!"

He is so cute! I can't believe what a big boy he is. It will get much easier to take him. Although you will miss him like crazy, you love feeling productive and getting some things done!

You're little boy is one of the cutest little ones that I have ever seen. I read your blog because he is so cute! Anyways my little boy is 10M and in MDO one time a week, its too short of a day! I was worried about the naps to but someone told me that kids end up doing what the other kids do so he takes one nap there. I thought that he would never do that!
