Family Reunion and Crafts

***Don't forget to sign up for the cute kitchen label giveaway HERE!***

Over the 4th of July weekend we got to go to a Davis family reunion in Texas.  It was h-o-t but a lot of fun!  Westin never minds being outside and got to go on a walk in the woods with Nana.

Taking a break on the swing.

I've noticed other kids his age like small steps too.  He loved walking off those deck boards onto the ground.  He thought he was big stuff!
Taking a break from all that steppin' with his cute little rosy red cheeks.

He developed a love for watermelon on this trip!  There is nothing better than watermelon to cool you off on a hot day.  It was fun getting to spend some time with family that we don't get to see nearly enough.

Back in the air condition of our home, I have been trying out some more appliques.  So far I have ironed these on the kitchen towels but haven't stitched around them yet.  I'll probably use my sewing machine on the pennants (that's a lot of stitching!) but hand stitch the others.

I also have 10 burp cloths waiting to be finished.  Can you tell I'm really dreading getting my sewing machine out?  I just need to sit down and do it.  Does anyone else always have to read the instructions on threading the bobbin?  Haha!
I doubt these will get finished this week since I'm getting so excited about going to IKEA but hopefully soon!  Especially since some of them are gifts!  :)

There is going to be another fun giveaway on Friday!

Ha! I always have to watch a YouTube tutorial to to my bobbin! I have a ton of stuff I need to sew right now, but I have been dreading pulling out my sewing machine, too. My friend has a self-threading machine. I'm going to have to get one of those next time!

do you have a cricut or silhouette to cut such straight lines?

So cute!! I always watch YouTube videos on how to thread the bobbin because I hate having to read the manual. I'm super lazy! Ha!

You crack me up! I haven't used my machine in years. Hey, is the Famous Hardware Antique store still on Emma? I bought a wrought iron bed there when I was in grad school.

Hi Shannon! Westin's lashes are beautiful. Yes! I'm right there with ya on the sewing machine. So many projects I'd love to tackle...it's bad that I have had a few projects in the works for MONTHS and when I get to the sewing point I have a basket that says "to sew" that I toss them in to do it all at once. I too, have to re-learn how to thread that dern bobbin, every.single.time. Wondering where you found those pretty fabrics?

Pretty sure the sewing machine is my nemesis! I got one 2 Christmases ago and have yet to figure it out, so if you want to make it a little more fun, I'll bring mine over and you can teach me:)!

Love the burp cloths! My sister got some at a baby shower this weekend and I thought how easy they would be to make for a personal gift - of course... I don't even OWN a sewing machine so I would have to fix that first!

A question - didn't you do a post once about how to shorten or hide the cord on a lamp? I have one I want to put in a bathroom but the cord is just everywhere. I can't find the post, but I swear it was you. Can you point me in the right direction?

Westin is growing up so fast! Love the pictures with the watermelon :).

I wanted to swing by, I haven't commented in a while but I did mention your work for Westin's birthday party on my blog recently when describing the details of my son's recent party.
