Handprint Art

Don't forget to enter the Longaberger giveaway HERE.  It is a good one!

Thank you for all your kind comments on Westin's one year pictures!  Y'all know how to make a girl feel good.  ;)  I cannot take 100% credit for my outfit or hair though. I am not very fashion forward or even remotely trendy so I had Elizabeth help me with my outfit and my friend Aubrey did my hair.  The shirt I have on is from Forever 21 and everything else was old.

A few of you noticed Westin's hand print canvas on our shelf.  We did it when he was 10 months old and it is far from perfect but I just couldn't paint over it and try again.  ;)  As soon as we did it I thought it looked like a turkey.  Haha

Hollie mentioned in the comments about a similar idea that she got from BeckyBecky gets her children's hand print every year around their birthday on an 8x8 canvas.  The idea is eventually to have a collage on your wall of your child's hand prints. (Click on their name's to see their versions.)

I decided to start this tradition with Westin and our future children.  I thought it would be fun to do them in the colors from their birthday party so we did Westin's in red and aqua.  Thank you, Lindsey for helping me!  I don't think we could have gotten it more perfect!  And thank you, Hollie for letting me know about this fun idea!

So what did I do with the old hand print?  I am now the proud owner of a priceless Thanksgiving decoration!

Here is a picture of the cute little guy who gave us his hand print.  ;)  My Dad hung his swing and Westin was sooo happy!  He loves to swing!

Thank you!

Speaking of traditions and handprints...I read once about buying a table cloth and each year make a footprint and handprint on it...and then by graduation, the table cloth will be all filled up! Such a cute idea, but I never started it with my boys and they are 4 and 5.

You will not regret starting this handprint tradition! I also got the idea from Becky H. & my son has made one each year on his birthday. We'll be making our 5th one in July (boohoo!)
Here's a link to my blog post about it: http://dailychrysalis.blogspot.com/2010/07/masons-annual-handprintyear-4.html

haha...that turkey handprint is so adorable! I love how you transformed it.

That's such a great idea to do the handprints every b-day. I think I may have to borrow that idea for Maximus.

The 1 year photos of Westin and with the 3 of you are so sweet. I'm debating about spending some money to get some professional photos done of Maximus and then the 3 of us. I've taken a bizzillion photos so far myself, but I think it would be fun to get some professional ones.
