Westin Lately

Lately....
Westin has really noticed his toys.

He has started smiling ALL the time.

Sometimes he just hangs out.

He still models cute outfits.

He is getting used to a hat on his head.

He has been getting a lot of cousin lovin.

He met Uncle JB for the first time. (Cody's sister Deidre is holding Westin)

He has been showing off his blue eyes.

He has been getting used to sunglasses for the lake this weekend.

Z Man has been teaching him how to look cool.

Westin has been busy lately! I'm looking forward to our long weekend at the lake. Hopefully Westin will love the water as much as we do! I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day!

*The dress I wore to his dedication is from Target.
**Still no bottle...trying every night.

Dedication Pictures

We totally forgot to take pictures of Westin in his dedication outfit. We got some as a family but just didn't take any of him by himself. So the next day I dressed him back up and had a little mini photo shoot. This one is my favorite:
He was too busy looking out the window to look at me.
Even though he couldn't look at me, he did give me a little smile.

And five minutes later.....
He was finished. It's hard work being cute!

CSN Stores Giveaway

I was contacted by CSNStores.com to do a giveaway for an $80 gift certificate for one lucky reader! CSNStores.com has over 200 websites where you will be able to use your gift certificate. While I was browsing their sites I saw a few things I would love.

I have always loved sectional sofas and think this one is adorable. I love the scale, shape and color. You could always use your gift certificate towards a purchase like this. ;)

For some reason I have always like these dutch ovens too. I rarely cook and have no idea what I would do with one but I just love all the fun colors they come in.
The next two items are things your gift certificate will actually get you. I love quilts and think this one is so cute! Perfect to freshen up your room for summer or take on a picnic. Lately I have been laying quilts on the floor for Westin to play on. :)

Some people have a thing for lamps or shoes or purses but I have a thing for kitchen towels and tea towels. I just can't resist them. I loved this bird cage tea towel.

Those are just a few things you can use your $80 gift certificate on! I guarantee it will be a hard decision with so many choices! Remember, it can be used at any of the 200+ CSN Stores!

How to enter:
Leave one comment on this post and be sure to leave an email address if you do not have a blog. The gift certificate will be emailed to you so non-bloggers have to leave their email address. Good luck!!

Do You Have One of These?

Do you have a room or space that you are just never happy with? Our guest bathroom has been like that for me since we moved in 5 years ago. No mater what I do I just can't seem to get it like I want it. So over the next couple of weeks it is my project.

I think it is time to retire the Ballard shower curtain. We have had it for 6 years and I think the black is really limiting me.
I'm also ready for some new accessories and art. This corner has been like this for 5 years too.

I love this tray but it is not really working in here. I also want to do different color towels. I love the white and they are easy to bleach but I don't think my guests are very comfortable using them.

You can't really see in this picture but I think I want to pull the colors from the birds on the bird jars. I also want to keep the wall color, Svelte Sage by Sherwin Williams. I've never liked this lamp either. I'm excited about taking on this project! I'll be doing it all on a small budget of course. :) I'll update along the way. I would love to know if you have a room like this too.

***Bottle update***
He is still not taking a bottle. Cody or someone else trys at least once everyday but at least he doesn't scream anymore. I think he is getting used to it in his mouth and just chews on it now. I think we are making progress! Thanks again for all your tips! I have faith we will get there soon. :)

A Special Mother's Day

Yesterday was such a special day. My very first Mother's Day. I thought a lot about last year and how I wondered if I would ever be celebrating as a Mom. I prayed a lot for those who are still waiting to celebrate as a Mom too. I've been there so those of you who are still waiting are never far from my thoughts and prayers.

Yesterday was also very special because we dedicated Westin to the Lord. We believe I Samuel 1:27-28, "I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of Him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord." As our pastor said, we want to parent with our hands open because we know he belongs to the Lord.

Great minds think alike! Elizabeth and I worn the exact same thing! :)
Here is the whole gang. Elizabeth and Joseph and my younger brother Andrew were able to come and so were Cody's parents and my parents. It made the day even more special. (Jason and Katie already go to our church) ;)

After church we headed over to our house for lunch.
Cody and I made stepping stones for our moms. My friend Christina did this when her first son was born and I always loved the idea. We put Westin's foot prints, name and age on them.

My parents got us a picture frame with Westin's name and dedication date engraved on it. It also has a Bible verse on the bottom. Luke 2:40, "And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him." What a great verse to pray over Westin's life.
Westin's great-grandparents, GiGi and Papa gave him his first Bible.

Since my parents and Cody's parents were here for the weekend we got a lot done around the yard. We also went to a craft fair where I got this metal flower for my door.

Cody bought me some flowers for my pots and planted them for me for Mother's Day. I went with a lime and purple theme this year.
My Dad and his Dad helped him stain our deck too.
Cody's parents bought us two knock out rose bushes. I cannot wait until these grow!

A Few Pretties

THANK YOU for all of your advice on the bottle thing!! Y'all gave me some ideas that I had never considered before. We are going to try some of them every night until it works. :) I'll keep you posted!

I have loved my Mom's peonies for years. They smell wonderful and are just so pretty! This year my goal was to plant some in my yard. I didn't want to wait a year for them to bloom so I bought two that already had a bud on them. :)

I picked this one a few days after we planted them. I agree with Katie from Harrington House, they are too special to leave outside.

A couple of days later I brought the other one in. I've been enjoying them all week and they are still going strong. Hopefully next year I'll have more than two to bring in.

Aren't these jars so pretty? My Mom's friend, Danielle, gave them to me. She saw them one day and thought they looked just like me. How sweet is that. I have two in the guest bathroom and one in the living room right now. They are so spring-y and I love all the colors on the birds. I'll be able to move these all over the house to enjoy them every day. :)

Two Months and Advice Needed

Today Westin is two months old! He had his 2 month shots today and it was not as bad as I thought it would be. Of course I cried before, during and after but he only cried about 30 seconds. Poor baby!! It is just so sad they have to have those. :) He has been sleeping pretty much all afternoon. Everything else was great and he now weighs 10lbs 12oz. My baby is getting big!

Here are some pictures from the past week. Last night we had Fam Night at our house and Westin was worn out. He fell right to sleep on Jason's shoulder.

Zach wanted to hold Westin. I love Zach's "cheeeeeeeeeeese!!!!" face.

He has been really smiling a lot lately. Even though I try, I realize I will not be able to capture each one on film. :)

CJ, Cody's friend, put together Westin's exersaucer. It is for Westin's older friends who come to visit. :) Cody thought he should be the first to sit in it though. Haha

Last Sunday was his first time to go to church! We were going to wait until he got his shots but he is getting dedicated this coming Sunday and we thought we needed a trial run. :) He did great! Cody had to take him out about half way through because he was getting a little fussy.

This is one of my favorite outfits so I snapped a few pics of him in it.

This one cracks me up because even though he is sliding down, he still cannot take his eyes off the fan. Haha

Okay, I need your help!! Remember how I said he took a bottle perfectly at 4 weeks old? Well, I guess I just thought he liked it so we didn't try again until 7 weeks and he fought us the whole time. He eventually took half of it but I had to nurse him afterwards. We have tried 4 different bottles (Born Free, Avent, Evenflo and Medela) and he just screams the whole time and will not take it. I still want to nurse him primarily but it would be nice to be able to leave him once in awhile for longer than 2.5 hours. Do any of you have any advice for me? Thank you!!
