Winner and The Evolution of a Topper

According to, the winner of the calendar is #15, The Glass Family! Congratulations! Send me an email and I'll get your info to Kim. Don't forget, if you didn't win and would like one, you can order it HERE.

It was so nice to come home from Thanksgiving to a house decorated for Christmas. Since I knew I would be helping put up my grandmother's tree and my mom's, I decorated our house before we left. I probably get the most questions every year about my Christmas tree topper. It is normal looking to us since it has looked like this the last 7 years but I guess it could look strange to others. Haha I just wanted something different than a big bow or traditional star. There is nothing wrong with those looks, I was just looking for something different.

I started with a glittered "Merry Christmas" and just stuck it on the front. Then I put two red glitter-y picks on top.

Next, I stuck in three green glitter-y picks.

Cody thinks these look alien-ish. ;)

My favorite part are the feathers. I bought several different sizes at Hobby Lobby all half off.

I started with the largest ones and then worked down to the smallest ones. I just stuck them in randomly.

That's it! Pretty simple. You could probably find very similar pieces at Hobby Lobby or a local decorating store that sells Christmas decorations.

My original goal this year was to put this smaller tree in the dining room with our personal ornaments on it and put our bigger tree in the living room. Once I was finished with this tree though, I was done! haha Maybe next year we will have two trees. :) I really like it in our dining room though. Please ignore the towel under the urn. :) What do you use as a topper on your tree?

NWA Boutique Show Favorites

Don't forget to enter the Scentsy giveaway! It's a good one! Go HERE. Winner announced later tomorrow.

Our area, Northwest Arkansas, has a boutique show every year. I love going! It is a place where homemade business can showcase their unique items. Many of the booths that I loved had a website so I thought I would share them with you. I love supporting women who create!

I got our family ornament for this year from Burlap Gals. They had cute burlap wreaths and ornaments. This ornament was only $5.00!

One of my favorite booths was Twang & Twig. I was excited to see on their website that they just opened a store off our town square. I got these galvanized buckets for $2.00 each. I hung one on Westin's changing table to hold his brush and diaper rash cream. I think I'll be able to use these for all sorts of things. I might put a number on each one or ribbon or something.

I also got this old Christmas carol leaflet. It has about 15 Christmas carols in it. I loved the vintage feel of it. It was only $1.00!
One of my other favorite booths was Whitewashed Comfort. These sisters make cute totes and tea towels. I saw them back in October at our craft fairs and I was so mad I didn't get a card. This time I did! I also got this tote for a Christmas present for a friend. (I don't think she reads my blog very often.) :)

Four more booths that I liked and think you would like too are:
1. Nesting-fun personalized items
2. Gleeful Peacock-original handcrafted treasures with a hint of funky
3. Adornments-fun, unique jewelry. I put one of her rings on my wishlist! :)
4. Dainty & Distressed-awesome handpainted furniture

Obviously these booths are not paying me to talk about them. :) I just thought their stuff was unique and something you might like as well!

Scentsy Giveaway

I told y'all this was the month of giveaways! And we still have 2 more before the month is over! Thanks to my generous sponsors for wanting to do giveaways for y'all. :) I'm really excited about this one. I love candles! I burn one almost everyday but my husband is not as happy about me burning them because I've actually left one burning overnight. On more than one occasion. Ummm, yah, he was not happy about that. ;) That is why I'm so excited to introduce you to Scentsy!

The scentsy warmers use a low-wat bulb to melt their specially formulated wax. All you have to do is plug it in, turn it on and put as many pieces as you like of your scented bar into the dish and enjoy! There is not flame to worry about. (Or the soot and smokey smell after you blow out your candle.)
They have over 80 fragrances to choose from and sooooo many CUTE warmers. They come in full size, mid-size and plug in. These are perfect for homes with small children and pets! Worry-free!

What happens if you are enjoying a scent but are ready for a change? Simply melt the wax in the warmer and pour it back in the mold it came in. Wipe the dish with a paper towel and start another scent. I'm amazed at how easy these are to work with!
I can't wait to try this baked apple pie scent. I am definitely someone who likes the food scents or the scent of something baking. ;)
Okay, how cute are these?! These are called the Scentsy Buddy. You can put a scent pak in the back, zippered pocket! I cannot wait to try one of these in Westin's room. These are perfect for nurseries or children's rooms. As much as he loves soft cuddly things, he is going to love this. Plus it comes in 6 different adorable animals.

Okay, wanna win some of these cool products? Tiffany has put together an amazing giveaway for one lucky reader! The winner will receive a basket of goodies including:
One full size warmer,

Magnetic Memo Board/Chalkboard-UPDATED

Don't forget to enter the Twice As Nice giveaway HERE!

UPDATE-Kara emailed me and said she got some metal squares (that are meant for outside) at the Dollar Tree! That would be perfect. Thanks Kara!

About a year or so ago I tore out this picture from my Ballard catalog. I showed my brother, Andrew, who manages a tool store. (I know it is more than a tool store but I don't know what else to call it. An industrial supply store?) Anyways, I told him to get me three pieces of metal that is magnetic. Well.........I'm still waiting.
I took matters into my own hands.
I was browsing Oops (A local closeout store who used to have a website but I can't find it anymore. It was one day and saw these metal pig signs. I thought they would be perfect for this project. Plus they were only $1.80 each.

I covered one in brown burlap. I wrapped the fabric around the sign and hot glued it to the back. I then hot glued the ribbon to the back.

Once I started I couldn't stop! I covered two with black and white fabric and painted one with chalkboard paint. I love that the chalkboard is magnetic also.

I realize everyone does not have an Oops nearby but I've seen these metal signs at Hobby Lobby. You can wait until they go half off or use the 40% off coupon that is usually online. Or just keep your eye out for a cheap piece of metal that is magnetic. :) I bet the home improvement stores would have something too. Whatever you do, do not count on your younger brother. It could be over a year! ;)

Twice As Nice Giveaway

I'm really excited to introduce you to Twice As Nice. Most of you have probably heard of them since these twin sisters are pretty popular in blogland. However, if you haven't heard of them, then let me introduce you to Fern and Fran. They are twin sisters who have started a vinyl business. They can make pretty much anything in vinyl for you to put on any smooth surface. Walls, windows, mirrors, etc. Their pieces are so unique and pretty!

Who doesn't love a monogram?

This would be so cute in a nursery or kid's room. I love the little monkey hanging off of it!

The twins made this verse for Colson's nursery.

They also made this custom piece for Westin's nursery. They offer this verse in their shop in a smaller size. I loved the bird.

This zebra is actually one of their best sellers. It is a really neat piece. I can definitely see this in a nursery or playroom.

Do you want to win a piece of vinyl art? All you have to do is visit Twice As Nice Lettering HERE and leave me a comment telling me which piece (up to $30) you would pick if you won. will pick one winner Saturday the 20th and they will get the piece they selected! Thank you so much Fern and Fran for offering this giveaway! Good luck!

What We've Been Up To

Here are a few pictures of some things we have been doing.

We voted.
We celebrated Zach's 3rd birthday at a bouncy place.

The same day we celebrated Adeline's 1st birthday.

Westin has been drinking water from a sippy cup.

He has been rolling everywhere!

He's getting really good a sitting up.

Been taking lots of baths. He loves his new towel from Jill!

He got to ride on a toy that his daddy rode on when he was a baby.

The most exciting thing we have done is that I got to meet Asa yesterday! One of my best friends, Elizabeth delivered him at 31 weeks. He was 2 lbs 14 oz when he was born (Oct. 28th) and is now up to 3 lbs 5 oz!

He will be in the NICU for a few more weeks but praise the Lord he is doing great! He is breathing on his own and learning how to eat from a bottle and nurse. He just needs to gain some more weight and hopefully he can come home soon. :) He was due the day after Christmas and was born a few days before Halloween. Maybe he will come home around Thanksgiving. He has all three holidays covered! :)

Be on the lookout for some giveaways coming up! This month is going to be the month of giveaways! :)

Printing Posters

The way I print pictures and how I printed the prints Jessica shared, was at Sams Club is like a Costco or a bulk supply store. However, you should be able to print them wherever you print out your pictures, like Walmart, Walgreens, etc. Once you click on her images to enlarge them then you need right click on them to save them to your computer. Then you can go to the website where you print pictures and follow the steps under the "photo" or "picture" tab. It will walk you through the steps on uploading the pictures and will allow you to print what size you want. I think her prints were made to be printed larger because on the 4x6 an 5x7 size the word "cranberry" was cut off a little. I hope that helps! :)

Thanksgiving Decor

Last day to enter the Artistic Design's giveaway HERE. Winner announced tomorrow!

I think last year was the first year I decorated for Thanksgiving and I really liked it. It made me enjoy the season without rushing Christmas. I do admit to decorating for Christmas the weekend before Thanksgiving though. We are never in town for Thanksgiving, so doing it the weekend after would just be too late. ;) Anyways, on to the decorations. My grandmother bought me these pilgrims and I love them.

On the sofa table is a turkey plate from TJMaxx and my scaredy cat pumpkin turned around.

I could not decide on what to do with my dining room table so I played around with it for several days.

This is how it looks today. I'm not promising that it will look like this tomorrow.

I am sooooo glad I found THIS blog!! Wow. Check out this print I printed off from her site:

I printed off an 11x14 for $2.68 at Sams Club. Ahhhhh! I love what it adds to my fall mantle. Thank you, thank you, thank you Jessica!!

I just put it in the same frame I had my Keep Calm Carry On print in. She also had a Halloween one that would have been really cute too.

She has three prints for Thanksgiving you can print. I printed all three in the 11x14 size and they gave me a 4x6 copy of them too. I framed this 4x6 print in the kitchen.

Here are the other two. Jessica framed them and they look realllly good in her kitchen. Go HERE to see. She even has Thanksgiving subway art!
