Dutch Boy Review Part 2

With the last two gallons of our Dutch Boy Refresh paint we decided to paint our kitchen cabinets.

There was nothing wrong with them other than I had never liked them. They were a little too orange-y for me. Before:

I didn't paint the inside of the open shelves above the fridge yet because I have another plan for that area.

I primed everything first and then rolled on the Dutch Boy Refresh paint. It took about three coats to get them covered. I am sooooo happy with the results because they are more "me" now but this was a time consuming process. I knew it would be but I seriously do not know how Susie Harris changes her cabinets so much! :) I do want to put a small amount of glaze over them but then I am finished with them. After we let them dry for a couple of days I dabbed a small amount of Vaseline on the rubber stoppers just to make sure they didn't stick. So far, so good!

I just love how easy it is to pour the paints from their containers and how easy it is to get the lid on and off. It is the little things that make me happy! Also, I LOVE how you can't even smell it. I feel so comfortable painting with Westin playing in the next room. I know that we will probably be using Dutch Boy Refresh paints from now on. I'm converted!
Thank you Dutch Boy for offering me the free paint that made me finally do something about our cabinets! And don't forget to check out their facebook page HERE.

Love the Cabinets! My husband painted our cabinets white almost 2years ago and we love them :) Hope you enjoy!

They look good, Shannon. Mom and Dad repainted theirs white several years ago, and I am not sure they're ever doing it again. Ha!

By the way, since we're going to be doing a lot of painting at our new house and I want to help Chris paint, we might be getting Dutch Boy - since I know it's a safe gonna-be-mama paint. ;)

They look beautiful! I have those same orang-y cabinets. I can never convince my hubby to let me paint them, but I sure keep trying! lol!

Wow that makes SUCH a difference! It looks so good. I painted our bathroom cabinets, and I agree- it is quite a process.

I found your blog through Katie's Keepers and I love what you do w/ your home. I love the way your cabinets turned out! Did you sand them down first or just put on the primer?

LOVE the cabinets! We JUST made the decision last friday to paint our cabinets. What did you prime with? Time consuming....that's what I was afraid of...

I love the new color! Just wondering how long the process took? We have been considering painting our cabinets for quite a while, but have not for fear of the time it will take. We have considered hiring the same people that painted our walls before we moved in, but are just conficlted. ha! I know you have a baby in the mix to like me so I know that adds to the time.

I love them. Painting cabinets is very time consuming. I don't know how you did a whole kitchen. I've done our laundry room and a bathroom before and that was enough for me for now. :)

Love it! Did you have to take all the doors off? My kitchen cabinets are white and need a new coat. I am dreading it.

It looks so good!! I've decided to paint my cabinets too. Did you sand first? What type of primer did you use? I want to have all the specifics before I start. HAHA!!

Yes, much better Shannon...I had orange-y cabs last year and I have really enjoyed my kitchen soooooo much more w/ them being white. Sounds like D. Boy paint is awesome! I love the containers as well, Walmart used to have their paint in containers like that and they stopped...ugh!

Love it! I plan on painting my kitchen island cabinets (they're orange-y as well) and I've just been dragging my feet. I think it's because I'm so unsure if I'll like it. You've turned me around. I'm doing it!

They look awesome! I can't wait to see what they look like with glaze. You will have to show us the update after you do that. I painted my kitchen cabinets 2 years ago and it took me forEVER! I didn't regret it after it was finished, though.

Wow Shannon, what an amazing transformation! I thought your cabinets were beautiful before, but wow, what a difference! So crisp and clean now. They really pop!

I just wanted to let you know that I featured your blog and the MumMums on my post for today. I bought them at Target yesterday and Jillian tried them for the first time. I had to give you props for such a great suggestion! Have a great weekend.

Oh, I do love the white cabinets in your kitchen! You make it sound so easy; I am not a painter at all. Anything I touch instantly becomes a mess when paint is involved! Way to go, they look great!
