Four Months

On Monday Westin turned four months! Where has the time gone? I wanted to wait until after his Dr. appointment today to post his stats.

-Weight-13 lbs 2 oz (15%)
-Height- 24.21 inches (25%)
-He has still only rolled over twice (Back to stomach).
-He is always grabbing his feet.
-Still sleeping through the night (since about 2 1/2 months) but wakes up around 5am to eat. Thankfully he goes right back to sleep until around 8-9 am.
-"Talking" more and more which we can't get enough of!
-Size 2 diapers.
-Pretty much all 3-6 month clothing. Still wears a few 0-3 month pieces.
-Still loves the swing but hardly ever sits in his boucer seat.
-Loves his play mat with the toys hanging down.
-Has really started to grasp toys and pull them to his mouth.
-Loves, loves, loves being outside.
-Loves bathtime!
-Still will NOT take a bottle. It's crazy! We have tried everything. I'm thinking about trying him on a sippy cup.
-Still eating about every 2-2 1/2 hours. :)

What kind of bottles do you use? I've used Playtex Nursers (the drop-ins) with both of my kids and they took to it right away. They are made to mimic the breast. Good luck! You've got a cutie on your hands!

He is precious! Don't know if it'll make you feel better or worse, but Spencer wouldn't take a bottle (without a fight) 'til he was about 6 months. We tried for what felt like FOREVER. Then, all of a sudden, they were telling us to take the bottle away and make him drink from a sippy cup, and that seemed to take FOREVER! =) Hang in there. If you try a sippy cup, do the playtex ones with handles. Spencer hated all the cups that were supposed to be more like a bottle, and it sounds like Westin is right there with him on that one! If you're ever in LR with a little extra time on your hands, we'd really love to play.

My sister in law and brother had the same problem with their son last year after he was born... he would not take a bottle and she ended up having to quit her job. I think he might take a bottle now or has taken them, but I think it just took time and patience with my nephew... I hope things work out for you... if its anything like my SIL, she couldn't leave her son and I can see what you might be going through.

Shannon, what a cutie pie he is!!! He has such a sweet smile! And what a blessing that he is sleeping through the night.

I think I've posted before, but I can't remember for sure! I wanted to tell you that my Carter is now 16 months and has never taken a bottle. I tried every type of bottle, and nothing worked. I'm actually still nursing him three times a day (but hoping to wean soon! He has other ideas - ha!). Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. I think it's a boy thing, because my girls had no problem going from nursing to bottles.

what a doll he is:) My middle daughter never took a bottle, by 9 months I was desperate. She was a huge spitter (spiller) and I could never feed her away from home. I gave her a playtex bottle with a sippy top on it. It worked! She went from breast right to cup at 11 months. Good luck!

What a great picture - he sure looks happy! Fun to hear about all of the stats. Thanks for sharing...any tips you want to pass on to me are welcome. :) (I'm now 9 weeks pregnant)

I can't believe he's 4 months! I have got to get my gift in the mail...it's size 3-6 month!! I'm so ashamed of myself.

I can't believe he won't take a bottle...he just wants his Mommy! :) I'm sure you've tried them already, but we use the playtex nurser drop-ins. Amelia went from breast to these without a problem. If you've already tried them, just nevermind this comment. HA!

He is so adorable, Shannon. I hope to be able to meet him & you someday!!

Westin is getting so big and is adorable!!! I nursed all 3 of mine for a year. My girls took a bottle when they needed to, but my son would NEVER take it. We tried everything. I had to leave him with Grandma to be at a wedding when he was 4 months old and she had to spoon feed him breastmilk. Very frustrating! I wish I had a helpful tip for you.

Cute as ever! I love that he is smiling so much! Great pic of him.

He is so precious! When we transitioned from bottle to sippy cup with Emma we used the Nuby brand since they have the soft spout. :) Hopefully he will take a bottle or something soon. My mom said I wouldn't take a bottle either and that at 6 months I just went to a sippy cup and she stopped breast feeding. Good luck!

I agree with the playtex nurser drop-ins...if you haven't tried them already. I had no problem with either my children taking them. But every child is different. Hang in there!

That picture is so stinkin cute!! I am so sorry about the bottles. I have no idea of any tricks that could help, and I'm sure you have tried them all anyway.

Hopefully with time he will eventually take it.

Westin in such a cutie! He looks so handsome! My little guy refused to ever take a bottle as well. We did exactly what you are thinking about-he went straight to a sippy cup! It was fine with me to not have to deal with buy and washing bottles! :)

You know what, Shannon? My oldest son was so attached to nursing he didn't wean until 18 months. Now he is 13, knows everything and is NEVER wrong. One of the things I prayed for him was to have a quick wit. Boy am I seeing the fruits of those prayers! Enjoy each feeding, it goes too fast.

He has grown so fast!!!

My baby cousin is the same age as Westin and he took a bottle today. A family friend came over and his momma left and he took the bottle.

Just wanted to say my son (who just turned 4 yrs!) never took a bottle either. At the time, it was so frustrating and we tried every trick and bottle on the market. I felt like I couldn't do anything because he also ate every 2-3 hrs so I could never be away from him for long periods of time. When I started to introduce solids it got a bit easier, as, I knew he would at least have "food" in his tummy if I happened to be away for a bit longer. When I finally stopped nursing him at 10 months (couldn't take being bit with those sharp little teeth!) he began drinking from a sippy cup. He actually drank water from a sippy at around 6months, but not milk. Anyway, although it seemed horrible at the time to be "tied" down since I was the only one who could provide him milk, I have to say that looking back, it really wasn't that bad. It makes me a bit nostalgic to think of it now.

My youngest wouldn't take a bottle either....I nursed him for a year and I tried so many times for him to take a bottle and a paci. Never took either! It was such a pain that I had no freedom...but now that he is two and VERY independent...I miss it a little bit:) Keep trying different bottles...the only one he ever sucked out of was one that I paid a fortune for and it actually looked like a you know what:) It wasn't worth the $20! Good luck and he is so stinkin' cute!

I've heard great things about these: http://www.nuby.in/feedingnuby.php

It comes with a breastlike nipple (complete with little bumps all around it like a real areola), I've heard they are good for babies who don't like to take a bottle. Good luck!

He is growing up so fast. My babies wouldn't take a bottle either. They went straight to a sippy cup with a soft tip. They loved the "Nuby" I just bought all of the soft tip sippys til they took one. Good luck.

I'm not leaving advice....but maybe some sympathy and encouragement, I have an almost 6 month old baby and she, too, had a hard time taking a bottle. It has just been recently that taking a bottle is not a big deal! I guess we just kept trying and it finally clicked!! Who knows!

Oh my word he is adorable. Our little is that weight and height and he is only 2 months old. Yikes!! The doctor tells us he will more than likely be over 6 feet tall. He is in the 93% of his weight and height. We got a big guy on our hands.

My daughter would NEVER take a bottle and we started her on an Avent Sippy Cup at around 3 months. The beginner ones have a real soft spout and she would drink from it as a novelty but it helped some if I had to be away for any amount of time.
