Do You Have One of These?

Do you have a room or space that you are just never happy with? Our guest bathroom has been like that for me since we moved in 5 years ago. No mater what I do I just can't seem to get it like I want it. So over the next couple of weeks it is my project.

I think it is time to retire the Ballard shower curtain. We have had it for 6 years and I think the black is really limiting me.
I'm also ready for some new accessories and art. This corner has been like this for 5 years too.

I love this tray but it is not really working in here. I also want to do different color towels. I love the white and they are easy to bleach but I don't think my guests are very comfortable using them.

You can't really see in this picture but I think I want to pull the colors from the birds on the bird jars. I also want to keep the wall color, Svelte Sage by Sherwin Williams. I've never liked this lamp either. I'm excited about taking on this project! I'll be doing it all on a small budget of course. :) I'll update along the way. I would love to know if you have a room like this too.

***Bottle update***
He is still not taking a bottle. Cody or someone else trys at least once everyday but at least he doesn't scream anymore. I think he is getting used to it in his mouth and just chews on it now. I think we are making progress! Thanks again for all your tips! I have faith we will get there soon. :)

Keep up the good work, Momma...you're right. Having it in his mouth and chewing on it is indeed progress. Keep doing it daily and we'll be praying that he starts sucking from it, but I think you're well on your way!

Love,
Anna

Can't to see where you take the bathroom! I just love a good makeover...and your makeovers are always good. ;o) My living room and my family room are two rooms that I have never been happy with...regardless of what I do in there. :o( I am *patiently* awaiting my kitchen makeover....which will actually include the entire downstairs. hehe. ;o) Hang in there with the bottle work...baby steps... ;o)

I think your bathroom is cute but I know how it is when you are ready for a change. I want to do so many re-do's in our NC house but with the baby we can't travel down there right now. Can't wait to see what you do with it. I'm sure it is going to be adorable. You are so creative!

My powder room is that room for me. Previous owners had border at the top and I'm having a hard time stripping it. Ugh!

Can't wait to see what you do!

bathrooms are the hardest thing for me. I can never make a bathroom like anything but boring so I am right there with you. Although yours is nothing but boring!

Good luck with the bottle training! He will get it!

The bottle problem: When my daughter was first born she did not understand that she needed to suck when nursing and she needed to be trained. I wonder if he is not sure about that too since the bottle feels different to him. Make sure the person that is feeding him had nice clean hands and have your baby start by sucking on their finger. When he gets a good sucking pattern (a few seconds) going they can remove their fimger in give him the bottle. It took a bit of practice like this for my baby to get it.

Happy 1st Mother's Day!

Where did you get the beautiful black tray (w/flowers). It's gorgeous! That bathroom is really beautiful as is, but I understand the need for change! Can you come decorate my house?

Similar to what Nichole said, I would put Spencer's pacifier in his mouth (which he loved) and then I slowly scooted the bottle nipple in next to it from one side of his mouth. He would then be sucking on the bottle. He was not an immediate fan, but it was less traumatizing than just cramming the bottle into his screaming face. =) We had the most luck getting him to take a bottle FIRST thing in the morning. Also, my mom was the best at "talking him into it." He still seems to like her more than most people. =) Hang in there...someday he'll be 2 chugging milk and you'll laugh thinking, "Remember when he WOULD NOT take a bottle?"

I really like the shower curtain. What about adding some trim to it in one of the colors you want to pull.

I think its a five year itch or something because I'm going through the same thing at my house. I am wanting to switch out everything and change it up. I'm getting ready to do a post of my kitchen decor redo! Good luck! Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Looking forward to seeing the progress. However, I still think the existing bathroom looks pretty good, but so speaks the woman stuck with plastic (yes, plastic bathrooms - I really should post pictures) in her current defence house. What were they thinking!

Good luck with the bottle. Our bub is 6 weeks old and I can't get her to take a bottle. She just spits it out, even on the night I was out of milk and she was still screaming with hunger.

I can't wait o see what you do with this room! Our master bedrom is Svelte sage and while I love the color, I'm trying to think of new ways to decorate that room.

I have a 5 month old and we had the same bottle problem. I just figured it out about 3 weeks ago ... the key for us was getting a bottle that had the exact same nipple as his pacifier. He uses mam pacifiers and I found some mam bottles with handles at Babies R Us. I gave him the bottle empty (when he was not hungry) and let him put it in his mouth. He kind of played with it first ... once he was used to it I put formula in it as a snack and he took it fine. I think the most important thing was giving him a nipple that he was already used to and not making the bottle a "feeding." When I nurse him I lay him on the boppy but he would not take the bottle that way, probably because he was expecting the breast. When I give him a bottle, he sits on my lap almost facing out and we kind of recline back and he'll drink it no problem. Every baby's different but this is what worked for me! And I tried EVERY bottle I could get my hands on. Good luck! I know how frustrating that can be.

Have fun with your bathroom! :)

Thanks Shannon for the comment...and yes I totally have a room that I am so not happy with! We live in a rental so its hard to not "do" much to it i.e molding lol!! But my master bathroom I just can not get it to look right! I can't wait to see what you do with the bathroom too! I was going to ask you to..did you try the Medela bottles? You can pump directly into them too (which rocks for working moms!)

My daughter was in love with her Soothie binkie which I know your son also uses. At first I also had a hard time getting her to use the bottle (she seemed to not like any) that is until we tried the Soothie brand bottles (same exact nipple as the Soothie binkies she was so used to) and that solved our problem. For the entire time she used her bottle we only used the Soothie ones. Have patience you'll get there! Love his presentation pics...love those BIG blue eyes!
