Playing Catch Up

First of all, y'all are so sweet to keep coming here and commenting. It is so hard to find the time to blog and read blogs. I do most of my reading on my phone while I'm nursing Westin. :) How do you moms do it? Anyway, here is what we have been up to the past couple of weeks. I'll try to get better at keeping this blog current. :)

Cody turned 31!
Cody's mom brought some baby pictures of Cody and I was shocked how much Westin looks like him! I always thought he resembled him but this is just crazy! Here is Cody at 6 weeks, the same age that Westin was in these pictures. Cody:
Westin just loves his changing table. He always has. It makes for some cute pictures. :)
Family picture on Cody's birthday.
Last Friday, Westin turned 6 weeks! He also started smiling some. We still have to work at getting a smile but it is worth it. He also started sleeping longer stretches at night. He now sleeps 6-7 hours before he his ready to eat again. Yay!
The day he turned 6 weeks we loaded the car and headed to Little Rock to see my parents and my grandparents.

He got a lot of lovin' from his grandparents and his great grandparents, GiGi and Papa.
It looks like he is saying, "Who me?" :)
I love his plaid shorts. :)
He has also started noticing his toys more this week.

He has really come to love bath time too. I am so glad! After his first couple of baths when he screamed so hard I told Cody we were done with baths. ;) I sucked it up and tried again a few days later and he loved it. We look forward to it now.

Although he loves looking at his toys, nothing beats the fan. He can spot it right away in any room. I can make all the noises I know how to make to get him to look at me but he just can't tear his eyes away from the fan.

His two month appointment is coming up in a couple of weeks and I've already started asking Cody if he will take him. I have been dreading it since the day he was born. I actually tear up when I think about him getting shots! Ha! Maybe I can plan it where Cody takes him to all his check-ups where he gets shots. ;)

Shannon! He is so beautiful (Westin, not Cody, lol!) I know you are just soaking it all up. And, yes, the shots are horrible. Maybe you can try to think of your being there as a way for you to comfort him, and then maybe you won't have as hard of a time yourself. (Or maybe you'll both burst into tears, either way it'll all be over pretty quickly.) =)

He is a cutie! I still think he looks like you!

He is really filling out, great job momma! I remember when my son would just lay and stare at the fan. That was the most still I ever remember my child being :) Yes, the shots are terrible. I thought I would be the champ but instead found myself in the back of the room biting my thumb. It's over in a heartbeat and you'll make it through. I have a lot less time to comment and blog, I just enjoy reading which takes up too much time as well. But I figure it's the me time of the day :)

I did not blog hardly at all the first eight or so months of Cilla's life. Don't feel guilty, it is hard!

He is so adorable, and what a wonderful blessing he is! I enjoyed looking at the outfits Westin was wearing in these pictures because I've already purchase some of the same ones for Maddox! We have good taste! Thanks for taking the time to post some pics of your handsome guy! :)

Oh my goodness Westin does look just like his daddy! Those pics look identical to him! Kelcee didn't like baths much either at first and I told Greg I never thought she would and now I can't get her out of the bath tub ha! ha!

I always do my bloggin when Kelcee is napping....that is the only time I get a chance too! :0)

Happy late Birthday to your hubby! You look so pretty girl and I can't believe how skinny you are for just having a baby :0)

Love all the pictures! I actually prefer to go to the appointments to get all the information first hand, but I do have some friends who go and then leave the room for the shots.

I almost cried each time so far, but luckily Bryce only cried for about 10 seconds so it has not been too bad.

Good luck with the appointment!

I just love keeping up with your little family. He's so sweet & does look just like his dad.
Happy Belated Birthday to him, BTW.
Enjoy your weekend.

Westin is precious, he has such gorgeous eyes! You may consider nursing him immediately after the shots, right there in the exam room after the nurses get done giving the shots. The nursing will comfort him and calm him down. I can't remember how many shots are given at 2 months but whenever my daughter gets her shots, two nurses do it at the same time to speed it up. One nurse will do two in one leg and another will do two in the other leg. It definitely helps get it done quick! Just an idea!

He is adorable! The lack of sleep is a killer! I am looking forward to when "Lovie" our foster baby works up to 5 or 6 hours. She's at about 4 so it's not as bad as the first few nights but getting up and getting 3 kids ready and to school and daycare and a sitter before goign to work is killing me. Thank goodness for long mid-day breaks and a quick nap!
"Lovie" had her first shot in the hospital. I dread taking Aaron for his kindergarten shots more than her 2 month shots. Holding a little boy down is torture!!!

OH, he is so cute! I just wish I could get my hands on him...haha! Oh, I love him! :o) I got so tickled looking at you standing at the back of your car with it all loaded up....only because: one of my girlfriends (who is a mother of 3) said that for the 1st baby, you always take TONS and TONS of stuff anywhere you go, with the second, not so much, and by the time the 3rd one comes along, you are good to get in the car with an extra diaper in your hand and a binky. HAHAHA! I only have two now, but so far it's true for me! Too funny! He is beyond adorable, and you just soak up all your time with him and this PRECIOUS, SHORT time in your life...don't worry about keeping your blog current. :o) Even though we are all so excited to read about you and sweet Mr. W. Take care!

Westin is perfect. I love looking as babies, their sheer innocence is miraculous. He is absolutely precious, and yes he really looks identical to Cody! How about that! I've heard with time, biologically, babies begin looking more like their Moms. I read it is for fathers to cope with their babies, biologically they always look like them at first..But he truly is the spitting image of his Daddy. Either way he has beautiful parents. His smile is adorable. Have a wonderful weekend with your lovely family, Shannon!

He is adorable and looks just like his dad! Shots are awful, but at that age they cry for a second and are back to normal. They get worse as they get older!

The Pelhams said...

Shots are not as bad as you would think. 2 of mine didn't even cry! My middle child is the one who cried and it was for about 10 seconds and I picked her up and she was done. He needs momma's loving touch after those shots! Pray for strength and you will do fine!

I have missed you so much but I soooo understand the lack of extra time. Sleeping and baths got the backseat when I had my babies...blogs were yet invented..ha! Enjoy that adorable baby and we will be here waiting for you...(((hugs))) Susie

I know the thought of shots is horrible, but if you have to choose now or later to have Cody take him...have Cody take him later. I remember the 6 month shots being much harder on them. My babies are 5,7,9 and let me tell you....I've over the moon that they don't have shots until 11...because they are so emotional for all parties involved.
Hugs to you.
Westin is so cute. I laughed at seeing all the stuff you packed up to travel with Westin. We were like that with our son who will soon be turning 10. I'm in denial...because I still remember his first road trip too.
My son loved the fan in our room and looking out the window in the family room. I used to think that there must have been an angel sitting on the window because he always stared at it so intently.
I'm rambling...just very excited for you. Westin is such a precious gift.

Cuddles and Chaos said...

Oh one more thought on shots...kind of weird but somebody told me to nurse the baby during shots. Maybe if you have to go, you can try that. It still hard. Hugs.

What a sweetie pie! He is just precious. Sounds like you are in full new mommy mode right now! The dr visits are never fun but they are usually calmed down pretty easily, I think it is harder on us! Just be ready to feed him when they are over!
He sure looks like Cody when he was a baby! Oh my! Happy Birthday to the new Daddy by the way! Enjoy your sweet little boy, it goes so fast, mine will be 15 next week!

Hi Shannon,
I have been reading for awhile but never commented. Westin is beautiful!. He will need you to be there after his shots to comfort him and love on him. Then he will forget anything ever happened!

He is so beautiful!! I am thinking this little one in my belly is a boy and looking at precious Westin just makes me smile about maybe having one!! I remember that first trip for shots...I really don't think Mommy gets over it, although Emma did! Us Mommies are kinda wussy though...lol. So glad to see everyone is doing well! Just a beautiful family!

Oh my heavens, he is so adorable. I love all that dark hair. I've been such a bad blogging friend, I didn't even realize he was here. You know how it is with a little one around, tough to get things done and blogging is one of those things. His nursery is beautiful, so jealous. I love his newborn pics, especially the one with him on the shelf, darling!!! Congratulations, I hope everything is going well.

I've never commented before, but I love your blog and your house! Westin is precious! I have a daughter who just turned a year so she's had several rounds of shots. The first couple of times she cried for about 30 thirty seconds (still heartbreaking but not too bad), but then at 6 months I believe, the nurse suggested holding her on my lap for the shots...she didn't even flinch! She even gave the nurse a smile after she was finished! Amazing! I definitely suggest trying that. Hope it goes okay for you!

Amber said...

Wow, it's incredible HOW much he looks like his Daddy, you're right! They could be twins removed by a few decades! Westin is such a cutie.
