Crib Bedding

My Dad fixed my computer! Yea! I have been so anxious to show you the crib bedding! It came in on Tuesday but I couldn't even upload the pictures until today. I absolutely love it. The lady who made it did such a great job and was so fast!

Obviously we put it on the second I got home. :)
Once I saw it all put together I was so glad we didn't compromise on the plaid. :) I know y'all think I'm crazy talking so much about this plaid fabric but I think it just makes it! Hahaha (I'm not denying that I can be a little picky)

We went out a couple of days later to pick out the paint color. If you look at the pictures above this one the walls were the same color as the crib. We went to Walmart and picked out a Color Place color called Sphinx. We should have been suspicious when it rang up for $7.98....it was a little thin but nothing a few coats didn't take care of. :) Cody is still deciding if it was worth saving a few dollars or painting a few coats....

The drapes will be similar to the crib skirt except it will be bordered with the plaid.

I love his initials on the bumper. However, now I am completely stumped as to what I should put over the crib! It seems like lately everyone does their name or initials (which I love!) but that would too repetitive. Your suggestions will be greatly welcomed! :)

A beautiful bible verse or favorite quote from a storybook would be lovely painted on the wall behind. I've also seen photo walls so-to-speak where either family photos or a family tree is painted/hung.

Love the bedding!

Love the dogs on the bedding! You could maybe find some picture or have a painting done with those dogs on it for over the crib!

Oh Shannon- I love it!!! Love the crib, love the fabric... love it all. I would go with a painting or you could find three "barn wood" type of frames & put pictures of him in there once he arrives.

Before I read what you wrote about the plaid making the bedding, I zoomed in on all the pix. I was honestly thinking, "I'm glad she went ahead and used that plaid!" =) Re: the paint, we used a few Pratt and Lambert paints when we bought our house a few years ago, and I have to say, they were the thickest, creamiest paints I'd ever seen. I'm thinking about what should go over the crib....

I would do a bible verse. Something that has meaning to this pregnancy or to your life. Or a favorite saying. Something you want your son to remember.

Love that bedding! The plaid does really tie it together and make it complete!

YAY for your computer getting fixed!!! LOVE the bedding, it turned out fabulous and looks so boy-ish!!! Great job.♥

Your bedding is absolutely the most beautiful I have seen for a little boy! I LOVE toile and the plaid is a great compliment. Just perfect in every way!

I love the bedding and the plaid fabric! HA!
I agree with the first comment, a bible special bible verse over the crib would be great!! Or possibly some cute vintage nursery prints would be pretty! Good luck deciding!

Oh, it's so handsome! I just love it and I'm sure you do too!

I did a boat shaped shelf over Rhett's because I didn't want to be repetetive either. Obviously, boats don't go in this room, but maybe a shelf of some sort from pottery barn kids? They have some great shelving ideas. I also love the thought of a bible verse above! I also think 2 large pictures maybe of the animals in the bedding (hunting dogs or horses?) would be neat. Something kind of rustic/vintage?

No matter what you choose, it will be beautiful!

Elizabeth H. said...

You could do some sepia newborn pictures (and for now, just hang the frames) or hang the frames from a curtain rod using brown velvet ribbon... or a scripture verse that you've chosen for him, or some vintage prints... a collage of dark wood crosses would also be nice. Also, you can search vintage children's art at art.com and there are some great vintage prints of children's stories.

I love the bedding! I can't wait to see his nursery when you get it all finished! What is his middle name going to be? I saw the "T" initial. Is it Thomas? That is my boy name. It's my Dad and brother's middle name, plus I nannied the most beautiful little boy when I was in college named Thomas.

I like the Bible verse idea and I really like the barnwood frames idea. I got some really nice ones at Hobby Lobby last week! I would definitely incorporate some dogs into his room. But I'm a little partial to dogs!

Shannon it turned out BEAUTIFUL! What a wonderful room you are creating for your son. I think a bible verse above the crib would make this nursery complete! I'd be afraid to put anything there that could fall down! Do one of those neat vinyl things like your "Welcome" on the front door

I love it I love it!

Let's see...tough decision about what to do above. I like the Bible verse or saying idea, but newborn pictures of Westin would be cute, too. ; )

I love it! The colors and fabric are just perfect for a little boy! Please, please decorate my nursery if I am so blessed someday!

I think it is just darling! I love the plaid too. I would still do his name over the crib....I think it would look great! So look soooo good! I always looked like a puffy fish ha!

Shannon!!!! It's gorgeous! Perfect for that little man! I just love baby/child rooms that aren't too ... kiddie. The prints you chose are so great... The plaid (is that what that is??? On the outer side of the bumper?) looks so sophisticated and...debonaire... Haha! He's just going to need a smoking jacket now when he sits in his room. ;o) Seriously...totally LOVE it to pieces!

Oh that bedding looks so great! My girlfriend has a shelf with hooks underneath it hanging about her sons crib and it looks really cute. She has little knick knacks and things he has been given, that might be a nice option.

Love it, especially the monogram! Maybe you can ink his foot prints and hand prints when he arrives. Frame them for above the crib.

I love the bedding! I think a big canvas with your favorite Bible Verse or quote would be great!!!!

Do you have any more toile leftover? Maybe cover a piece of stryofoam and line the border with a ribbon? Or a Bible verse/ the cute saying what boys are made of....

Love the bedding! So handsome!

It's beautiful Shannon. I know you can't wait to see that tiny bundle of joy napping in his own nest.

Meredith said...

Do you have any scraps of the fabric left over? You could make one of the Nester's ragamuffin garlands (http://nestingplacenc.blogspot.com/2008/04/ragamuffin-memo-garland.html) and hang it above the crib. Just be sure to hang it high enough that he can't yank on it when he's able to pull himself up!

Oh Shannon I am giddy with excitement for you! The bedding is beautiful! I LOVE it!!! I bet you were just busting to get it home and put it together! I wish I lived close, I would love to help you decorate!

Oh Shannon, the bedding is beautiful! I blew up the photo to see the detail of the fabric and just fell in love with it. My husband trains bird hunting dogs and pheasants and quail are quiet a thing at our house. Truly love how the nursery is coming along. So exciting!!

For above the crib - why not a collection of photographs in chunky creamy white frames?

Kari Beth said...

Love it, Shannon! It is so beautiful. Makes me so anxious to get Elle's room put together. I'm sending you an e-mail with what I'm doing over Elle's bed. It might work for West's room as well :)

Love the bedding! I think you should put a bible verse or a special saying. You can do it in the vinyl lettering.

Sarah Robbins said...

I think three large wood frames. You could put sepia colored pictures of his toes, fingers, etc. after he is born. Or, you could make a large monogram and put one of each letter in?

Can't wait to see what you decide!

Jennifer said...

Oh... it is *adorable*! I love what you chose for the bedding!! I would suggest a bible verse. I have working on baby verses lately... so that is what first came to my mind! :)

Deidre said...

Oh, I love that bedding. Timeless!

I like the idea of scripture above the crib.

Can't wait to see that crib with a little boy in it :)

Rita said...

Such a nice bedding set!!! Love the colors and all the fabric together! On the wall you could do a large barn star painted a contrasting color from the bedding and a few chunky frames with family and baby pics in them! Can't wait to see it when you have it all done..I am sure it will be lovely!

Jennifer said...

I think you should put a big frame above the bed and then you can put a picture of him in it. The one Katie had in Zach's nursery would look really neat in there. Did she find that at War Eagle? Either way I know it will be perfect whatever you decide. The bedding turned out great! I love it!

Sabrina said...

Put a scripture verse! Something that you have prayed over for your child. You can re-use it for his baptism/dedication. The bedding is so precious!

Shannon, the bedding is beautiful! The colors are perfect for your little man. I don't have any suggestions for what to do over the crib, but I'm sure that you will come up with something great. I just finished Henry's nursery this week and got the pictures up. It feels great to have it done.

I LOVE IT!!! I don't have Amelia's monogram on her bedding, but still didn't want to do it on the wall over the bed....I guess because everyone is doing it. I'm still trying to decide what I want to do on that wall. I've been thinking of her pics on canvas. There is a great place in Conway that will put ANYTHING on stretched canvas. Got there info at Holiday House.

The bedding is just so cute...so boyish yet classy at the same time. L.O.V.E

I love it. I dont know why I was thinking you ordered it to make bedding for YOUR bed. It is perfect for baby bedding and so unique!

I love a grouping over a bed with one big frame and they have these great little round frames (probably 6-8" diameter) at Hobby Lobby 50% off always, and then frame a silhouette or display something on a small shelf.

Hope that makes sense

Love the bedding. I don't blog but have been "lurking" for some time. You have great style and I love reading about your decor. I say go for a french memo board surrounded by brown toile plates.

Katy S said...

I love your baby bedding that is too precious!! I think a good thing over the crib would be a canvas painting of your family crest. Really Polo style with the plaid and scrolls and you can add in a few other colors to go with the beautiful bedding. I saw a friend of mine paint one for a little boys room and it was precious, I think I am going to do one for my little boys room.

Shannon - have you seen the garlands that the nester makes. I made one for Evie. You use the fabric from your bedding and hang things like pictures, rattles, invitations etc. on it. Go to my blog and send me an email if you want a picture of Evie's. It was easy to do but do it before he arrives.

The bedding looks great! Good job selecting the fabrics- I love the plaid too! You could hang a collection of white plates or brown/white transferware.

A good vinyl quote-

Shannon said...

I think it would look neat with "Always kiss me goodnight" painted above the crib with two blown up photos underneath; one each of you and your hubby kissing your new son. Congrats and merry Christmas!

I love the bedding! Beautiful colors and perfect for a baby boy that will soon grow into a little man! :) I put three silver frames over our crib. We used the same crib for each child. The pictures were of the baby and I would change them according to the season. It was all fine and dandy until the baby got older started reaching for the pictures and taking them down. They liked looking at pictures of themselves. Of course this was all happening while they were supposed to be napping! Once they hit that stage there was a blank wall over their crib. Vinyl lettering might be easier and a bit safer. Whatever you do will look great! Have a blessed Christmas.

Wendy @ The Shabby Nest said...

I adore your crib bedding! Perfection!! I like the idea of photos above the crib...but I would have them printed on lightweight canvas. That way there wouldn't be any glass over the crib. (For safety's sake!)

Jennifer said...

They have these really awesome sayings or scriptures that you can put onto a wall - I haven't done one myself, but a friend of mine has one her son's wall over his crib as she has his monogrammed initials on his bedding as well.

I'm sure whatever you come up with will be beautiful - and can't wait to see it!

Create your own verse. I just did "Every good and perfect gift comes from above." James (can't remember where in James). Used "typewriter" font. Very classic for a boy. I used all lowercase. The new parents LOVE it!

I can't believe how many people use crib bumpers as they are so dangerous for babies as they can become smothered. I guess this is an American thing as Brits do not do this. Please be careful! Agh!

it's so cute! and you look beautiful! you could do a verse or quote in a decal on the wall above the crib=) hope you're doing great!

I love it!! It looks great. I would go with custom painting (vintage) more boyish to go above the bed. I think that would look cute.

It's so you and perfect for your little man! I love that plaid. It came together just right! I will be thinking of something unigue for over the bed. You do seem to have high cielings and I do like the idea someone suggested of using brown velvet to hand something. Long from way high strips of ribbon. If if think of something I will let you know but I bet you already have an out of this world idea churning in your head....oh letters in frames hanging from the brown velvet ribbon?

CRICKET said...

It is beautiful!Since you don;t have pictures of the baby yet, you could do two large pictures of you and your husband as babies in a sepia tone to match and then swap them out down the road. Or you could take some of the fabric and and staple to a painters canvas so it would be soft, no glass. Or I have seen mirrors over the crib of course you would want to nail it down in all four corners. Good luck/

Someone mentioned barn wood frames above the crib, great idea! Another idea, you could cover two or three thick canvases with some of your fabric and staple it around the back. Another idea: put some baby pictures of yourself, your husband, your parents and his parents above the crib...do all black and white baby photos in big chunky black or white frames, that'd be pretty cool above his changing table as well.

The bedding looks GREAT! I totally agree - the plaid absolutely makes it! I think a quote above the crib would be nice! Have you ever heard of "Uppercase Living"? They have quotes/pics that you put on the wall that are beautiful! I think you can find similar things at craft stores, too!

You should be a decorator..such an eye for this! A suggestion for a picture over the crib. I framed a huge poster size collage of pics of various family members and hung it so my son could see everyone from his crib. As he got older and could focus he would stare at the pictures and eventually would pull himself up and reach and point to the pictures. I redid the poster for his first birthday and included pictures of family members with him during different stages/events of his first year. He is now 4 and still loves it over his toddler bed.
