Christmas Mantel

Thank you for making me feel better about my lack of motivation! Apparently it is normal and I'll be back to normal next year. :) I really was worried that it would be my new normal and I did not want that!

I was off work on Monday so I spent some time working on my mantel. If you were with me last year it will probably look exactly the same. :) I didn't do anything different.

I just hang some greenery on three Command hooks and then stick some feathers, sparkly picks and a few fake poinsettias.
In a rare move that even surprised myself, I chose not to have our stockings monogrammed when I ordered them 5 years ago. I was even a newlywed and very into monograms! :) Instead I got the letters to hang off them. I still like this look but I'm not promising I will never get our names on them.

The stockings are from Ballard Designs and we are getting a coordinating one for Westin. I am having his name put on his. It is in their catalog but not online so I can't show you a picture.

In the middle of the garland I hung an ornament and added more picks. I feel much better now that everything is up and finished!

i love your mantle!!! looks beautiful! also, i love your idea about the letters instead of the monogramming--i saw some stockings here the other day that i wanted, but i wasn't sure the really thick fabric was monogrammable (sp?) so, now, my mind is made up to go ahead with them thanks to you! :)

miss you!

I love the letter idea. I think I will try that this year. Don't worry-I still haven't gotten our tree up yet, decorations are up, but not the tree. I am just leery with a 16 month old running around! Maybe in the next week-the less time it is up, the less mess I will have! lol I hope you are feeling good with your pregnancy!

We bought Rhett the opposite color stocking of Jeremy's (green w/ white polka dots). My hope is that one day WHEN we have a little girl, she can get the opposite of my stocking lol! Your mantle looks beautiful

I LOVE how your mantel flows with the tree...it looks so festive. You are good with those feathers! You are the only one I know who uses them.

My poor hubby just got home from Iraq and he is already painting my house for me. I had that dark brown but and going with a smoke gray. It was so hard to pick a color.

I don't think I would have gotten the monograms either! I made my family new christmas stockings last year and am planning on hanging a painted letter from them with some twine this year!
Your mantle is beautiful, by the way.

I just finished hanging our garland and was trying to figure out what to do in the middle. Great idea and I LOVE the initials. We do not have our names on our either.

How did you hang your stocking? I'm trying to figure out a way without something falling on Harrison's head.

It looks beautiful Shannon. Simple, yet professional-looking and I like how you have the poinsettas styled in it. You have some gorgeous stockings.. love Ballard Designs. I have been wanting their white, distressed circular dining table for over a year and their white, tin cat food canister too, hehe. ;o) Now you can lay back and relax! Take care.

Shannon, what are "command" hooks and where can I find them? I need my mantle to look like that but I can't put anything on top of it (decorations) because our tv is above the mantle. Love your tree and mantle!
