Finds, Junk, and I Won!

How's that for a title? Over Labor Day weekend we (my Mom, my Grammy and me) went to three flea markets. It was so fun but 6 hours later, I was tired! As always, we found some good stuff. I forgot to take pictures of my Mom's finds though.
A long time ago my Mom found one of these glass measuring cups. I have loved it ever since so she has been on the lookout for another one. She found one at our last stop and got it for me. The "junk" part of the title comes from my Grandmother's junk room. She has always had this room lined with shelves that she calls the "junk room". She has always told me I can have anything I want from it. Every now and then I look in there and this time I found this old silver spoon.
Back at the flea markets I found this old wooden children's block. It even has a picture of a bird on one side! It has a "D" on one side too, which is perfect since our last name starts with a "D". It also has a "W" on one side which could possibly be the first letter of our boy name. I'm not going to say what it is yet because Cody is still not 100% sure he likes it and it definitely has some growing to do on my mom and other family members. :) And no, it is not Will or William or anything "normal". Any guesses?

I found another baby cup too. These are always a treat to find because they are pretty rare around here. Also, I found some old paintbrushes in the "junk room".

I loved the simple detail on the handle.

My mom bought me this small silver plate so I could use it somewhere in the nursery. She thought of the idea of painting the baby's first initial or monogram. I think that will be so cute!

Another baby cup and another small silver plate. Loved the shape of this plate. I'm not sure what I will do with it yet. It might just sit on my desk to hold odds and ends or I might paint something on it....

I got these silver coasters awhile ago and I'll be showing you what I'm going to do with them in an upcoming post.

And finally on to the "I Won" part of the title. Last week I received THREE different emails telling me I won their giveaways! I was so excited! The first one came in the mail this weekend and it was from The Chubby Dove. I love stopping by Jessica's site to see what she has been up do. She is so creative and makes the cutest things! I love this "H" she sent me. Great fall colors and I already have it up on display. Too cute!

What a sweet little note and birdie magnet she sent too! Thank you so much Jessica! I love everything!

Love your finds...and my first thought for the 'W' was for Wyatt...which is my nephew's name.

Wesley? That's my nephews name :)

If it's not Wylder, maybe it should be! That's cute. It's very "laura ingalls" but in a way that's still appropriate for a guy. I was gong to guess Winston. haha. Actually, I immediately thought of Wyatt, because Spencer and I just watched Super Readers, but someone already did.

I honestly think you hold the title for winning the most blog giveaways! And seriously, my first two guesses were Wyatt and Wylie, but I see I'm not the first!

I'm going to ponder it for a bit...

Love the glass measuring cup, and how fabulous is it that you won all those giveaways!?

Yay, I'm glad you won. You also scored some great finds on your shopping trip.
I have no idea about the name but I love unusual names so I'm sure it's a good one. We used Walton for our daughter's first name.

Shannon,
How do you always find such cute and inexpensive silver plates/platters? At antique stores I go to they are priced between $30-$50!!! I guess I need to head to Arkansas!!
Okay the first name that popped in my head was Wilbur since you said your family was not sure about it. I hope it is not Wilbur!! I think you are going to pick something much cuter than that!! I like Weston & Wyatt...just not Wilbur!! Ha!

Shannon-
Thanks for your sweet comments on my pumpkins. How are you feeling? I was so sick with all 3 of my boys-hospitalized for dehydration, from puking my guts up so much. I had tiny broken blood vessels (looked like tiny red pimples) on my face, from puking so much--ughh and then I wasn't sick a single day with my one and only girl-how different that pregnancy was.
How is your family doing? I think about all of you and I stop and pray for you.

OK so my guesses are- I have several--Winchester, Windsor, Witaker, Weston, & Watson. I think I covered several chances at being right. We have different names for all of our kiddos as well and all 4 of our kids have 2 middle names as well.

I am guess Wyatt, but I really have no idea!
Just give it time to grow on your family! A lot of our family thought the name Brody was weird and on person kept calling him Bodie! It was crazy! But now everyone has it straight and seems to like it or at least they pretend to! :)

Hey there... I am the one that meet you in the hallway at church on Sunday when you and your hubby were coming out of the kitchen. :) I have to ask, where are you finding all of these fun flea markets here? I have heard about 1 in Tontitown but I am not finding the treasure trove of "junk" as my husband calls it from the local flea market as I am normally accustomed. I moved here last year and MISS all of the ones we used to have in Mobile... such great things you can find at the flea market! Thanks!
