Feeling Like Fall

It has really felt like fall around here the past couple of days. I love this time of year! Some of you have asked where I got this chalkboard. I got it from a local gift shop but they only sell scrapbooking supplies on their website. You might be able to call them and have them ship you one. Their website is here.

This year I only put out about 1/2 of what I usually do. I don't know if it is the lower energy or just a need for simplicity but I kind of like it. I also held some things out that I put in a tub labeled, "Thanksgiving." So after Halloween I can pack everything up and have a small vignette of Thanksgiving decorations. This is going to be an easier transition to Christmas. Now I will not be packing up 5 or 6 tubs of fall decor, just to get all the Christmas tubs out.

I didn't change up the dining room too much this year. I kept the tray that was already on the table and changed out the birds and nests for pumpkins and a fall floral pick.

I also tied a floral pick to my candle sconces with a big orange bow.

In the kitchen I kept it simple too and pretty much took out all the bird nests and summer-y decorations.

That treat jar does not stay full for long around here! I love this Lori C. Mitchell character.

This "pumpkin man" is still my favorite fall decoration. He has always had this prominent spot in the kitchen for the past 4 years since I bought him. I saw his brother (or is it his sister?) on Jeni's blog last fall and have been on the look out ever since.

This is just a little corner with another candy jar. :) This one will be filled with candy corn though because we do not like it but it looks festive.

In our hall bathroom I put out his fun sign that Katie got me and switched out my decorative towel. I also took out the nests that were in the candle holder thingies and put something more fallish. I'm not sure what they are....walnuts?

Here is my latest Lori C. Mitchell figurine. He is also in the hall bath. Other than our living room, these are the only rooms I decorated this year. I'll post pictures of the living room soon!

I always love the start of a new season so I can see what beautiful decorations you have put up. Love everything as usual! I love the pumpkin man!

As far as the energy thing goes - I remember decorating my home for Christmas on the day after Thanksgiving last year wondering why I was so exhausted and having no energy to do it all. It was because I was pregnant. I can relate well to that tiredness vs. the desire to decorate!

I always love your stuff, Shannon. It looks beautiful.
Hope you're felling well.

I must need more coffee - I can't type correctly yet. That was supposed to be feeling not felling. Just to clarify.;)

I love your Halloween/fall decorations. I'm still in love with that little pumpkin head man at your sink. Too cute!

Your decor is always so lovely and classy. Better enjoy decorating now before that little one gets here... if you put anything out that is low enough to be touched you won't have much decor left. HA!

I love the October 31 sign and embroidered some towels last year as an attempt to copy it. Love your holiday decor. Sorry about your energy level - wish I could say it gets better.

I love fall decor. I'm waiting for Oct 31 to put out my halloween. I have a ton of that. Also, I have a pumpkin character that looks similar to yours. I love it, but my hubs things mine is "weird." lol Did you change out the sign over your laundry room door? ;)

I'm an idiot...I meant to say I'm waiting for Oct 1 to put out my halloween stuff. Not Oct 31. LOL!!!

Your home always looks so warm and inviting. Oh, and trying to look at your pic more closely...I think they are hazelnuts, but I can't see too well on this screen. :0)

oh, p.s...I thought I was the only one that didn't like candy corn!

Beautiful as always, Shannon!

It's funny that you've done less this year and it's still more than I put up this year...and I even bought a few new things last week. I need your good taste!

I got a similar pumpkin man or woman at Hobby Lobby the other day. Not sure which- it has a witch's hat on. Love your fall decor. I am with you on the simplicity this year. I look around and think I need to scale back!

The year that I was pregnant with Rhett, I only put up one tree. You know I wasn't feeling well if that's all I could muster!

I love the candle holder thingies. They would never last in my house though, I'm sure they'd get broken very quickly. Love all your decorations, I think fall is the best to decorate for.

I always love looking at your decorations...you inspire me! I started today with the outside...lots of mums (all colors!)... like you I didn't do a lot this year...we have had some kids destroying things in our neighborhood so I'm a little afraid to put out a lot of pumpkins and gourds... I love your plate in one of the pictures too!

Hey Shannon,

I didn't take out as much this year either. Sometimes I wonder how I accumulated so much. I love your Halloween decorations. Those little pumpkins guys are so unique. Hope you're feeling well these days. The first trimester was always hard for me. I had to take B6 pills because of the nausea. :-)
