Birthday Celebration

This past week I celebrated my 27th birthday. It truly was a week long celebration! I got birthday cards in the mail all week and we kicked off the celebration on Wednesday at Jason and Katie's house for a party at Family Night.

For some reason Zach really wanted this puppy dog in the picture. When he sees a dog, instead of saying "dog" or "puppy" he says "good dog". It is so cute. :)
Cody and I under her cute birthday banner.
Katie and I.

Zach pointing to the fish and telling me what it is.

Elizabeth, me and Katie.

My younger brother Andrew and Zach. Andrew has a motorcycle so if Zach sees one on the road or even a motorcycle helmet he says, "And-roooo". It is so funny how he associates him with a bike.

As a birthday present to myself, I cut some of my limelight hydrangeas to enjoy. I have never enjoyed a plant more than my limelight. I am so glad I saw them on Katie's (Harrington House) blog.

Over the weekend my parents came up for another celebration. My mom got me these bird salt and pepper shakers and silver plated plate.

She also got me these baby cups. She knows I am hosting a baby shower in October so these will be perfect to use for decoration.
I took some of my birthday cash and went to Hob Lob! I got this USA sign for 66% off. I'll use it next year in my 4th of July decorating.

I also got the glass bottles at Hob Lob. I have had my eye on these for a long time. I love them! To make it even better, they were half off.
I have them in my bathroom window sill right now but I'm not sure they are going to stay there. What would you do with them? I kind of like them without anything in them but I'm always open to suggestions. :)

Happy birthday!

I'm seriously considering getting a limelight hydrangea. I've never seen them before until this year and it just caught my eye. It's nice to see and hear that someone really likes it.

So jealous you have Hobby Lobby. Just discovered the place only to move and discover there aren't any within 200 miles of me! Hmph. :o)

Happy Birthday! I am so glad for you that you had such a wonderful birthday. I am a little sad to think that I am almost old enough to be your mom. . . but not quite! So I'll just think of myself as a big sister. And you are a sister in Christ, I know, so that's not a bad way to think of it.

Hope your 28th year is a blessed one!

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I love Zach's hair in that picture of y'all! So cute. And "good dog" - that is great. I love when they are starting to talk and make sense of things. It's so funny!

That kitchen is beautiful...I'm loving that wall of cabinets. You are going to flip out next summer with your limelights. Seriously! Just you wait. Mine are in their third summer...and I started counting blooms on one the other night. I have (no kidding) almost a hundred blooms on just ONE plant. It's taller than I am (I'm 5'8".) Just wait...they get even better! Haha! I'm working on a wreath with some of my dried blooms.

LOVE those bottles too. Funny, as soon as I saw them, I thought of Mustard Seeds. One of my favorite verses and I instantly thought of seeing them in side the glass to serve as a beautiful reminder.
Of course, they are lovely empty - but I had to share.

Hey, Shannon...I have had a lot of people tell me they've had terrible luck trying to dry their hydrangeas. They usually say they have wilted, too. Somehow, I have managed to NEVER have any trouble. I don't do anything special (on purpose anyway!) so I am assuming that I have just been lucky, I guess. Now, I do usually wait till later in the summer to cut mine from the bush for drying. I wait till they have been on the plant for a while. I have only done that because I like to see them on the bush outside in my yard...but maybe that is part of the "trick"... Once I cut them, I bring them in and hang them like that one post I did last year. When you do hang them, though, be careful to only hang them in small bunches because when they dry, sometimes the bloom heads will dry together/interlocked and they are sometimes hard to separate without destroying the bloom head because it's so fragile in its dried state. Plus, if there are a bunch of them drying together in a big bunch, they will compress each other and sorta flatten out, leaving you with a smaller dried bouquet. If you dry them in smaller bunches (3-5 stems), once they dry you will be able to stack them toghether in whatever arrangement you want. Does any of this make sense??? I hope so. I hope you have better luck with the drying later.

Thanks for keeping such a great blog! You are a blessing!
