Tray Transformations

You probably guessed what I would do with this tray:
Who doesn't need another chalkboard?! I love the size and shape of this one.

I wanted to do a little something different with the brass tray I bought.

I spray painted it Heirloom White and then printed off our monogram in a font that I liked. I cut them out and traced them on the tray.

I wanted a tone on tone look so I painted the monogram in a light beige color.

Obviously I was not going for perfection:

I still wanted more of an antique look so I watered down some dark brown paint and brushed it over the whole tray. Then I wiped most of it off with a paper towel. This was kind of a "make it up as you go" project which is how I like them. They rarely turn out like I pictured them in my head but I always end up liking them.

I'm glad I didn't walk away from this $3 tray. I didn't know what I was going to do with it when I bought it but I liked the shape and the detail. So if you see a good deal and you know it has potential, snatch it up! It might sit in your closet for awhile but something will eventually come to you.
