Who doesn't need another chalkboard?! I love the size and shape of this one.
I wanted to do a little something different with the brass tray I bought.
I spray painted it Heirloom White and then printed off our monogram in a font that I liked. I cut them out and traced them on the tray.
I wanted a tone on tone look so I painted the monogram in a light beige color.
Obviously I was not going for perfection:
I still wanted more of an antique look so I watered down some dark brown paint and brushed it over the whole tray. Then I wiped most of it off with a paper towel. This was kind of a "make it up as you go" project which is how I like them. They rarely turn out like I pictured them in my head but I always end up liking them.

Great ideas! This is part of my problem...I would have walked away because I couldn't decide what to do with the tray right away!
The trays looks great and have given me some ideas for some things in my attic!
What a great idea ~ and it looks beautiful!
It looks great - what a good eye you have.
That is so neat! I am still wanting to try the chalkboard tray out... this other idea is so cute too! You are too creative!
I would like just an ounce of your creativity! Gorgeous!
Oh wow! I really need to find me some antique trays. They would make such good gifts as chalkboards!
Thanks for sharing. You're so talented!
Shannon-
Those look great! These would make great gifts too! :)
Great job! It looks beautiful.
I have so many great trays, and every time you show me one I tell myself I am going to do it...tomorrow. :) Now, i need to stop buying them and get painting. So easy and instant gratification. :)
I love yours!
what flea markets do you hit in the Little Rock area? I live around there also!
You found some great things.
Brilliant!
Hi Shannon~
I really like how your trays turned out. I have seen so many silver trays and have passed them by - I need to make a run of it and try something like this myself. :o)
I hope that you have a nice day.
Sincerely ~ Tricia Anne
I love both of the projects! You did a great job, I may have to use these ideas around my house. :)
Those are both so pretty. Love your handwriting.
Oh Wow! I LOVE the monogrammed tray!
I love these doing things with these little trays--they are so easy and inexpensive to find. The monogram is great!
I love that monogrammed tray! Very pretty!
Love it! You are so stinkin' creative!
Both of those trays came out GREAT!
I love them both, they look Fabulous!
I adored them!! Shannon, they are great!!!
Love it. It looks great!
ooooh I LOVE these!!! and i love the easel for the monogrammed tray, where did you get it? I have wanting to go get some chalk board paint and i just LOVE what you did with the other tray too, gorgeous! i can't wait to find some myself and copy you!
Shannon...such cute stuff you have and all the thrift stuff. You really do rack up in the goodies!
Love the chalkboard paint. I bought my first can and will do something with mine soon. I have a few ideas!
Love the other platter!
You are so talented! I can't begin to tell you how many trays I have seen at thrift stores and garage sales that I didn't buy. I am so glad I found your blog!
The tray is beautiful! I love your ideas. I was recently in Prescott, Arizona browsing through an antique shop and I thought about you. I don't have the eye you have (at least not yet) to find wonderful deals, but I'm trying. Thanks for sharing you creations!
I love, love, love your trays!
Wow! Both turned out so cute! I pick up trays and then promptly put them back down. I need to go back and look with these projects in mind.
I love what you did with that brass tray! (That big one was originally brass, right?) I love the look of the brush-stroked letters...it's perfect! I agree...the lines of both of those trays are so unique. I have several of those (can I call them hideous?) brass candlesticks that you find for $1 or less each at the thrift stores...they are spraypainted black and you never would know they were once tat ugly outdated brass.
Oh Shannon I love these!!! I love the second plate alot!! Where did you get the easel that it is sitting on?? I like the shape of the first plate too!! Great job!!
Shannon those turned out so good. Thank for sharing such fun and cheap projects! I really love that monogram one you made. Now I need to keep my eye out for some trays.
I just knew you were going to do something beautiful like this! Pretty pretty~
Very Pretty - both of them
Great job.
Glenda
Both trays look great! Did you know you can now buy dry erase board paint? A lady at work was talking about it a couple weeks ago. She said they had it at Lowe's.
I see major copying in my near future! Both of these trays turned out just fabulous!
Oh, I also meant to tell you...A couple of weeks ago my husband and I went over to Eureka Springs for an anniversary trip and there were a couple of stores that you would have gone crazy in. They are both in the downtown area and one especially I could have seen you buying everything they had. LOL She had adorable things. Not sure if you go over there often, and coming to think of it, maybe you shouldn't. LOL
I love your monogrammed tray! What a good idea... will have to do some thrifty shopping soon :-)
Love the tone on tone monogram tray. Beautiful!
Absolutely love the monogrammed tray. It looks great there.
You're always full of inspiration.
I might 'borrow' your idea and do that to a tray I have?? They look great!
Wow, that is awesome. I LOVE how it turned out. I will definitely be keeping my open for something similar!
You are so creative! I love it! I may just have to try that sometime. FUN, FUN!
I don't know how you do it, Shannon. I never would have thought of either one of these ideas, but they both turned out beautiful!
Those are great ideas! I love the monogram one and how it turned out. I might have to do this in my house. I'm hoping that I have a tray I can use in my garage!
I love them!!! I am so impressed with your creativity and talent. : )
Of course it looks beautiful! I love the tone on tone look with the monogram. I am a huge sucker for anything with a monogram.

love, love, love it!
Sooo cute. You are amazing!!!

I am loving the cream tray. I would have never thought to do that. I must find me a tray so I can copy. I have just the spot!! Thanks-as always for the awesome inspiration!!
You rock girlfriend. BTW-how is your sister doing. Feeling better I hope. There is nothing worse than feeling crappy. It is times like that when it makes us all especially grateful for our health.
What a great idea! I'll have to make sure and snatch one of those trays when I see them at yard sales!
Blessings,
Sandra
Never pass up a good deal, especially if it's under $10. That's my rule! ;)
You are having fun with all these creative idea!! I need to get my chalkboard paint back out!! :)

I would never know what to do with most of the great things you decorate with! I love these ideas you always have :)
I'm so happy to see these! I bought a few at the dollar store that I loved the shape of, but couldn't decide what to do with them. Now I know! :)
Absolutely LOVE that monogrammed tray! :)
I wish I was half as creative as you. Blessings!
Wonderful projects. I have got to get my husband to cut a piece of wood that I am doing a blackboard out of. Yours looks great! Jackie
Love it. Another great job.
What a beautiful transformation! I love it! You have great ideas!
Always an inspiration. Looks great!
Thanks for the ideas. Great job. I can't believe you came up with all that. Very impressive.
Both trays look great, but the first one pictured is GORGEOUS and my very favorite so far! Love it!! The shape is amazing!
I love both trays, you have great ideas!
I love how you set up your little table with the tray. You always make such great vignettes (sp??). I always get so inspired when I see what you have done.
I LOVE the trays! They would make wonderful house warming gifts. I have a few to go to this summer and will now be on the hunt for some trays to turn into “chalk boards”. I’ve looked through your older postings and have really enjoyed all your great ideas….such an inspiration to get my but in gear and finish some of my decorating projects. I’ve recently started a blog of my own (it’s about decorating, crafts, cooking and so on). I’m still learning how everything works but am having a lot of fun with it! Looking forward to seeing more projects in the future!
Gosh, you are so talented. Not fair! I love the chalkboard idea, cute cute!
Wow, how clever you are. I love them. My Mom had some old silver trays she didn't want anymore. I will have to nab one up.
I absolutely love both of them! WONDERFUL idea!
I love that monogrammed tray. So cute!! You have the best ideas as always. Your creativity inspires me.
Linda
I just stumbled across your blog and love it. Great ideas and pictures. Your Sunday songs are neat also!

These are wonderful tray transformations. I've seen the tray-to-blackboard transformations several places, and I like yours best. And as for painting the brass one--that's really great! Thank you for sharing your good ideas.
Be still my heart!!
Hello fellow Mrs. Davis :) -
I just couldn't resist saying hello after reading this fun post! I have been LOVING all your precious fun chalkboard trays, so keep 'em comin'! I keep sending your blog links out to all my girlfriends so they can get in on the idea, too! Thanks for sharing with all us us! In Christ, a fellow blogger, Merideth
I love this idea. I just found 4 pewter plates at a flea market. Now I need to decide if I want to use the chalkboard paint or paint them all cream with a monogram . . .
Love those transformations! Are those silver trays?
Hey Shannon! Yes, I will definitely post some pictures of the red chalkboard platter. I am redoing my living room with some red accents, and I had put the red trays away from Christmas out in the garage. So I'm pulling them out this week to see if they will work in the living room. I'm hoping they work in there. But even if they don't, I'll post them!
I was going to ask you if your "No Soliciting" sign has been working. My SIL mentioned that she has a problem with that, and I told her you were hanging a cute sign to see if it worked. Any luck with it??
Gorgeous! Love your creativity and ideas!
VERY cool. I think this is going to be implemented TOMORROW! Yeah!
I love LOVE your tray! Can you please tell me how you did the monogram? They would make fabulous gifts.
You are one talented lady!
I need to pay you for one of these, simply awesome. I love it.
Love the chalkboard paint + tray idea! Fun stuff...looking around to see what I can use the remainder of my can of chalkboard paint on (one wall in my laundry room took up most of it!). Thanks for the idea!

I love the monogramed letters...looks great and I LOVE the price! I will be putting this in my mental idea folder :)
