Fun Find

First of all, thanks for all your advice on if I should paint my door or not. The majority of you said absolutely not but I still haven't decided. :) I saw an episode of House Hunters over the weekend and all the interior doors were black with white trim and I loved it. My thinking was that I wanted my door to look more like a solid wood door not just a cheap white metal door. Ultimately I want a new door with glass anyway so, we will see.... :)

Last week while I was out shopping I found these fun bottles. I love glass and I love baskets so I couldn't pass these up. They look good on my kitchen table holding a dogwood bloom.

On Friday I came home to another package. Kate at My Messy Nest gave away a Daily Study Bible and a package of coffee. Look at that cute ornament. She tried to mail this to me at Christmas but for some reason it kept getting sent back to her. It finally made it and I love it! It couldn't be more perfect.

I will be taking a blogging break this week. I'm going to take break from the computer and catch up on some emails and comments. I'll still be visiting your blogs though! :) Have a great week!

You're right. Cute finds! I never gave a comment on the door because I just couldn't decide. I say if that many people told you not to, and you're still feeling like you should, THAT should be your answer. Go for it!

Those little bottles are so sweet!
You paint your door whatever color you want girl. I'm all about doing things on a whim (most of the time).
Have a nice blog break, I should prob. do the same so I can catch up on housework and such.
Have a lovely week.

I am a new reader, and I am enjoying your blog. I say PAINT IT! I agree that it would look more like a solid door with it painted black. It would definatly give that space a little something more. Its only paint, and if you eventually want a wood door anyway, I think its worth the risk.

You definitely get lots of fun blogging treats, don't you? That's cuz everyone loves your sweet spirit.(They just rig them all. :)

Take a blogging break....I feel as if I need one to. I haven't been able to fall asleep without writing blog posts in my mind. Not good. :)

Speaking of Ooops, where is Ooops the store that you have posted about. I gather we live in the same part of the country, and that might be a fun little trip this summer.

I say go for it with the black door. I saw someone do it in blogworld and it looked great. I need to look back and see if I can find who did it so I can send you the link. Since my old house was quite similar to your floorplan, I think a black door would look great. The foyer is so open, I know mine had vaulted ceilings... I think it would add great definition to the space. Go with your gut, Shannon! Good luck!

I've been noticing the impact black makes, especially with the bright white accents and I say--GO FOR IT!!!
It could be really awesome!
BTW~ love the bottles in wire baskets. I have some tiny ones-maybe the size of a cigar. They hold a single stem and I just love them. I would most certainly love to have some like these...

I say if you are going to eventually get a new door with windows, why not go for it and paint it!! Love those glass bottles with the baskets... never seen anything like that!

I'm going to disagree with the majority and say "Paint that door!" I think it would look great!

Kari and Kijsa did a great post a while back about painting interior doors black. They showed lots of pictures and it looked beautiful.

I've been toying with doing the same thing at my house. I'll do it if you do it. ;-)

When I had a glass paneled door I couldn't wait for a solid door. Funny. :) I was all gungho for you to leave the door as is...but when you described the white trim and all the black doors, I think I changed my mind. Go for it! I hope you enjoy your bloggin' break. Will definatly miss ya though!

Have fun on your break. Sometimes it's just necessary to catch up on things.
I love the jars and the holders that they are in. You find the cutest things, Congrats on winning.

Michelle Cearley said...

I've changed my mind -- go black! The white door does "stick out" against all the color in your house since it doesn't have any glass in it. Black would be the best choice since it's on the front. In the worst case, you can repaint it white again, or live with it until you get your glass door! As Nester would say, it's just paint - don't be afraid! You can always change it.

Buzzings of a Queen Bee! said...

I still say Go Black, just like Wendy said! I know we are in the minority, but it would be SO pretty! Then I might have to copy you and paint mine too. You first!

Hey girl...I LOVE your vases with the little baskets..I don't know if I am too late..but I honestly think the black would RAWK...inside. I have seen it done on fireplace mantles and the interior doors and personally think it gives a sophisticated look. cherry

Your bottles are cute, Shannon! :)

BTW, I have a quick question--how deep is your mantel? We're redoing ours and mantels here are really shallow...I want to do mine deeper, but I'm pondering how deep to make it.

Just wanted to leave you a little note to say that your original post showing your black-painted-front door has left me wanting to paint our own as well... Still haven't done it, but I did bookmark your post with paint details, where to buy, etc...

Just have a single question for you though... Did you paint any shutters or other trim black when you painted the front door? Or did you just leave everything else the same?

Love your blog!
