Front Door

My Dad was able to hang my "No Soliciting" sign this past weekend. We put it right over the doorbell so there would be no confusion. :)

Isn't it funny how sometimes you do not notice something until you take a picture of it? I have already bought a new doorbell. I didn't realize ours was so bad! :)

Okay, remember the big debate over the door. I think it would be safe to say that 95% of you thought I should just leave it white. I was starting to agree with you.
BUT, the 5% of you who thought I should paint it black were pretty convincing! We went for it! I am soooo glad we did. I love seeing it every time I walk in the room.

It is so much warmer in there now. I really like it now! Thank you all for putting your 2 cents in. I read every comment so thank you for taking the time to comment. Whether you thought I should paint it or not, you helped me decide. Thanks!

I like it! We are going to be painting our front door a "barn red" this summer. As much as I like the color, I don't know that I want an red door on the inside of my house. But your black looks great!

Oh Shannon! I was one who said to leave it white, but I am glad you didn't listen to me and you did paint it. It looks great. You do so much inspiring projects!!!!

Shannon, I really like it, I think it looks great!! I really need to get a sign for solicitors, they are awful in our neighborhood! Thanks for sharing, love it!

Haha, I LOVE YOU! The main reason I have a cool house (according to some) is that I do what I like and go with my gut. When I try to explain to other people what I see in my mind, they usually don't get it, but after I'm finished, they're like, "Oooooh, now I get it!"

I think it's awesome that you did what makes you happy. Who cares what other folks think? You're the one who has to live with it.

Also, I love your "no soliciting" sign. It doesn't look as MEAN as a most of the store-bought ones I've seen.

That turned out well. I didn't realize from that first picture that the dining room actually opens up to the foyer. That makes it not look like a dark hole.
Great job going with your instincts.
Have a great weekend.

Okay, I was one of those that said leave it White, but I really like it! I also wanted to tell you I've started a new blog. I decided to move all of my home decorating and craft stuff to another blog rather than having it mix in with all of my family stuff. It's at http://sweetlysouthern.blogspot.com but you can still access it through my profile.

Thank you for posting about painting your front door inside black! We are debating the same situation only with "Swiss Chocolate Brown" hoping to match with close by walnut stained closet doors... I just couldn't picture it, but after seeing your beautiful dark door, we're going for it!
