4:30 PM Monday

The good news today is that Katie seems to be getting a lot of restful sleep. She did not even wake up when they did a spinal tap (a miracle!) and took some blood. She did open her eyes and say, "Happy Birthday". Today is Jason's 30th birthday! :)

Today I am praying that she gets a good nights sleep without pain and that there will be some major progress tomorrow when all of the doctors return.

I cannot wait to show Katie all of your comments and prayers when she gets better! I know she will be so overwhelmed and so thankful.

Thank God she slept through the spinal tap. My dad has had 2 and they are not too fun. I am hoping and praying that she is better very soon!

Happy Birthday to your brother too. I know he is probably worried sick right now and probably not having a very good birthday.

I was Katie's cheer coach at ABHS and absolutely think the world of her! I haven't seen her in years, but always try to keep up with my former athletes. Rachel Greene and Jenni Sharp told me what's going on. I have my whole prayer chain on top of it!! Thank you for posting her progress reports. Please give her a hug for me!

When I read she was getting a spinal tap I just shivered. Not that I have had one but I have heard about them. Any way to sleep through one has got to be a miracle in it's self. Praise God. Sounds like things may be turning around.
Happy Birthday to your brother :o)

I lay awake in my bed in the wee hours of the morning, praying for Katie and baby Reese. I am just trusting God to heal this mom-to-be and her little one!

My family will be praying for her this evening and hoping that her body gets some great, much needed rest! Praying so hard for her and for the baby, and I'll be praying for them both through the night, too, as often as Jack wakes up to nurse, which is about every two hours! I hope the results of the tap come back soon and are helpful in diagnosis.

Shannon, what a terrific way to keep everyone up-to-date on Katie and Reece. Thanks for your willingness to do so. I've sent this to all the prayer warriors and pray chains I know and have asked that they keep passing it along to prayer warriors they know. There is no doubt your family is being prayed for literally by people nation-wide. I keep reminding God that Katie and Jason will be incredible testimonies of His might when He touches Jason's girls with a miracle. Please let me know any tangible way I can help any or all of you, especially that sweet mama of yours.

Dear Katie -

I just found out about you through a prayer group email request. One of my prayer group members is Jason's parent's neighbor. I'm in shock and I just wanted to tell you that I love you so much and I'm praying for you, Jason, Reese, Zach and everyone else in your extended family. Everyone must be so scared. I will check back here for your progress and come see you when you are better. You are such a strong woman. I know all the people praying for you will make you even stronger. I love you.

Sam Mayo

(p.s. Shannon thanks for keeping your blog updated and passing our comments to Katie)

Shannon, thanks for taking the time to send me a comment on my blog about Katie being treated for meningitis. I had it as a teenager and if that is what she has, the headaches are absolutely excruciating. Since they've done the spinal tap, I'm sure there will be a positive answer one way or the other now, but one way they said you can tell if it's meningitis is that you can't touch your chin to your chest because of the swelling.

I'm still praying for Katie, her family and yours. I know that it has to be stressful for everyone. I think it's so heartwarming that you take the time out to post updates. I am positive that Katie will appreciate all you've done. Bless you for doing it!

Lord Jesus I pray for Katie and her entire family. Bring Katie rest tonight and comfort despite the tubes and machines. I pray for her to be able to eat tonight. Lord please fill her doctors with wisdom on what is causing her the pain. Bring Katie relief from the intense pain and agony. Lord restore her to complete health and I pray for Reese's health as well. May You be with Katie and all who love her this day. In Jesus name, Amen.
