Spring Planting

Cody and I spent a lot of time outside this past weekend. We had great weather so I planted some pots on our back deck.

The majority of our work happened in the front. I planted geraniums in the pots and put a fern by the door.

Cody planted this dogwood tree in front of our dining room. We had a tall holly bush beside the window but I absolutely hate holly. It is not a very welcoming plant if you ask me. :) We put it in the back yard by the deck. So for four years I have been asking Cody to plant a tree here. It was worth the wait. I love it here. I didn't want anything too full because it would have blocked some of our light inside. I can't wait until next spring to see it in full bloom. We kind of got in on the last of it this year.

I think the plant I am most excited about is this limelight hydrangea. I love these! I cannot wait until it blooms this summer. Hopefully I will be able to dry some of the blooms too.

I've always wanted a dogwood.

Love the hydrangea. Another plant I've wanted to grow in my garden, but from what I understand, they are difficult to grow here and I don't want to kill one. LOL

Dogwoods and hydrangeas are my favorites!!!! Sadly, I don't seem any dogwoods in Texas like I did when I lived in Rogers, AR. There were so many up there!

Great work on those pots! They look good!!

Shannon, it looks so pretty. I am so jealous of your good weather too. I can't plant anything until June out here or else it will just die because we keep getting snow!! Blah!

Thanks so much for offering to check your Hobby Lobby for that fabric for me! I would need 12 yards...enough for two windows and it's 6 yards per window, which seems like a LOT! But if your HL has it I wonder if I could call and have them ship it to me? You are so great to offer...but don't make a special trip or anything! :)

Looks great! I love getting back outside after winter to work with my plants. Have to be careful though, sometimes that snow sneeks back in! I love your fern, I'm thinking I need to buy a few.

You know I love dogwoods! That is gorgeous in front of your window! I also share your love of red geraniums and hydrangea's. I always check out the hydrangea's at the nursery but haven't had the nerve to plant one, yet. I'm not sure why they intimidate me so! Please share when yours blooms!

I love dogwoods. Our town has a dogwood tour each April. It was traditional at one point to plant a pink and a white in one hole and let them grow together. Really pretty! I did that but my pink is much larger than my native white so it will take them a bit.

Hydrangeas are my favorite. Somehow I manage to kill them all though. Good luck with all of your plants and flowers I hope they flourish and bloom bright.

Beautiful Shannon!
I fell in love with dogwoods when we were stationed in North Carolina. I bought a pink hydrangea the other day but I don't think it's the best for life here in Sicily. We'll see how long it lasts!
Have a relaxing weekend!
