Silver Tray Chalkboard

When I saw this chalkboard project at Phillips Phamily Phive, I knew I wanted to try it. Hers is bigger and better so I am still on the lookout for a larger tray. I love the size and shape of hers.

Here is what I had to work with. A small $2 tray that I found Easter weekend and my ever faithful chalkboard paint.

I used a foam brush to paint on a couple of coats. I just free handed the curves. Not as hard as it would seem.

I had a lot of fun trying different places for it. I lived with it in this tray by my sink for a couple of days.

I liked seeing it when I first walked into my kitchen but I kept thinking it needed a little something more.

It definitely needed some ribbon. :) I used some red and white ribbon that I already had and just taped it on the back. That way it will be easily removed when my mind changes again.

I hung it on a small wall beside the cabinets. I like it right here for now but I'm sure it will always be finding a new home.

Katie from Harrington House said she painted a group of platters with red chalkboard paint and hung them in her kitchen. I would love to see different colors of chalkboard paint being used. She is busy having a baby/taking care of a newborn right now but maybe when things settle down she will post some pictures.

Shannon, I love this verse, This is the Day that the Lord hath made...We used to sing that song in church when I lived in PA. The church I go to in GA is much more contemporary and they never sing it. :( Thanks for the mind lift of remembering how lovely of a song it is! Wonderful inspiration to read on any plaque in any room! ~CC Catherine
