STEP 1: Find an ugly picture that you can re-purpose. Usually from a thrift store.
STEP 2: Rip off the paper backing.
STEP 3: Pull out all of the staples with some pliers. (This is not hard!)
STEP 4: Keep the old cardboard backing and paint the frame.
STEP 5: Staple some coordinating ribbon to the back.
STEP 6: Probably the most important step. Decide what you are going to put in the frame. I could not decide if I wanted to go with Wendy's idea with the toile or use a picture of some old escutcheons from The Vintage Moth. I decided to figure out where I was going to hang it first so that I way I would know what would look best there.
STEP 7: The last step is to put the glass, new picture, and old cardboard backing back in. This is personal preference but I tape it all back in with painters tape because it is easily removed. I'm sure I will want to change the picture out at some point.
Hang it up and you are finished! I also added a bow to my ribbon. I decided on the picture of the escutcheons because it tied into the white platters.
I found the top platter at a thrift store and I bought the bottom one at TJMaxx and More when I went to my friend's baby shower. She knows that when I go visit her that more than likely I will be wanting to go there. If any of you are lucky enough to have a TJMaxx and More in your town as opposed to a little 'ole TJMaxx then you know what I mean!
Also, she always takes me to The Kitchen Store and I found this perfect little sign. I love the quote and especially the little bird sitting on top.
Do you like antique white plates and platters? Even better, do you like them hanging on the wall? I mean, really, who doesn't? Go check out how my friend Mandi hung them over her bed. She did a guest post on Designer Girl's blog. Leave her lots of comment love because I really want her to start her own blog! :)
