Gift and Living Room Makeover

This past weekend my parents came up to lay hardwood floors in our living room. Look at this cute Valentine present my mom brought me! They are bird salt and pepper shakers and they are so cute.

All day on Saturday, my Dad and Cody put hardwood floors in our living room. There might have been a little help from my brother Andrew too. :)

I did not take a before picture because Cody was so anxious to get started but here is an old picture.

After

We tried to do this a year ago but the builder told us he got the dining room hardwoods from a specialty flooring store and the color was discontinued. We had to have an exact match because they were going to connect. My parents did their kitchen a couple of months ago and I took a scrap home to see if it matched...and it did. So, it turns out the hardwoods were at Lowes all along. You can tell it matches perfectly.

I am so happy with the results. I never thought that putting a dark color on the floor would make the room look bigger but it does!

I love walking in there now and just looking around.
Isn't my Dad the best?! He knows how to do everything and is always willing to do anything for us. Thank you so much, Dad! I love it!

Aren't hardwood floors the best? We have them all over our house except some tile in the foyer and laundry room and we have carpet in the bedrooms...I would hardwood those, too, if I had the chance!

Have a great day!

They look just beautiful and it does make your room look bigger! What a sweet dad you have. Mine did ours for us too, smile. He had all of the tools and the know how! Dads are great I tell ya! I cant wait to visit my Mom because that means I will be in your area. Lunch would be soo much fun. Can you believe that she still has no power. I talked with her yesterday and she is starting to feel a bit down. I feel for righ now. She live near Lead Hill. Not sure if thats one word or two. I can never remember. I do know its a very small town so that may be why she is still without power. Glad yall are back up and running. Take care~

It looks awesome. The light reflects off the wood so it helps to make a room feel more spacious. I also like how you have your couch at an angle. Good job! And good job, to your dad, too.

Hello, The reason why is it had my name listed and also my daughters name in my blogging stuff. Anyone could look up my blog and find out my last name, from there do a search and find out my address etc. So, to be on the safe side we changed it and no longer will use personal info. I didn't think it was a big deal until I saw my husband do it and saw personal info in less than 1 minute. YIKES!!

It is better to be safe than have my identity stolen etc. Hope that helps. :)

This room looks great! I LOVE hardwood floors...we have them through our whole house, except for our big attic "hang out" room. And you're right about them making the place feel bigger. When we removed all of our carpet (we were lucky enough to have beautiful hardwood floors that someone had covered up) our house seemed so much bigger!
