Randomness

Since we are having a pretty bad ice storm in our area today (and probably tomorrow), I am off work. Thankfully our power has not gone out but I know others have not been so fortunate. I'm kind of worried about it though because my lights have flickered a few times this morning.

It is only predicted to get worse throughout the day. This is our view out our kitchen doors:

Several days ago I posted about some tags I had been selected for and I mentioned that I knew I was forgetting one. Well, I found it! Jody over at Jody's Cottage tagged me in a fun book tag.

1. Pick up the book nearest you.
2. Turn to page 56.
3. Post sentences 2-5.
4. Be honest and don't go find a "cool" book!

Since I am trying to read through The One Year Bible, and I'm several days behind, it is never far. The 2nd through 5th sentences on page 56 are from Genesis 31:42.

"In fact, except for the grace of God-the God of my grandfather Abraham, the awe-inspiring God of my father, Isaac-you would have sent me off without a penny to my name. But God has seen your cruelty and my hard work. That is why he appeared to you last night and vindicated me."

This is Jacob talking to his father-in-law, Laban. It is one of my favorite Bible stories. If you have never read Liz Curtis Higgs fictional books based on the story of Jacob, Leah and Rachel (Genesis 27-29) then it is a MUST! They are so good. I think I have read them 3 times. They are Thorn in My Heart, Fair Is the Rose, and Whence Came a Prince. If you love Christian Romance novels then you will love these.

On another note, I love it when I run across a nest that I have not seen before. I found this one the other day in a boutique in town called, Signed Sealed Delivered. I love the feathers on it.

Have you read Francine Rivers line? They are books of the women in the line of Christ- they are amazing- there are five little novellas- one on Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba and Mary- you'd love them!

It's supposed to be here later today. The kids were bummed that they even had to go to school today! Several districts right around us closed, but not us!

I LOVE Signed Sealed Delivered. I haven't been there in Years! What a great nest.

Stay warm. We missed the freezing rain that you got but have sleet. My husband had an accident yesterday afternoon going to pick our son up. Luckily he wasn't hurt and I was able to pick both of them up.
It just started sleeting again.
I hope your power stays on.

She does have back up heat but doesnt want to waste it. I hope and pray that is doesnt get too bad for all of yall~ Stay warm.

It looks COLD where you are! I will pray that you definitely do not lose power!

I loved those books by Liz Curtis Higgs! They were so heart-wrenching, though, it just broke my heart with what happened to Leana in the second book!

I also must say that I LOVE the nest you found. So cute! :) Have a beautiful day!

Love the nest. And I admire you for keeping your Bible close by. I guess mine is the closest book to me, if it's okay to skip over the pile of magazines!
Thank you for keeping the Harper button on your blog. I clicked on it out of curiosity and have been captivated by their story. And Brayden too.

Oh, how I wish we had some of these "off days" from the snow and/or ice. It would be awesome to curl up under a quilt and watch movies all day.

Looks cold! I'm reading the One Year Bible too :). I love it. I'm actually doing the 2 year plan though. Old Testament and Psalms this year, New Testament and Proverbs the next. Reading makes me sleepy, so I can only handle a little at a time. Have a great rest of the week and keep warm!

I hope you are warm- I hate being cold!
It hit 78 degrees in Florida today, I am a second generation Floridan and have never seen snow.

We are sitting right on the cusp and we normally get that nasty ice that you guys have right now, but this time we got a snow day today and they already called to tell us it's a snow day tomorrow, too! I sure hope your power stays on and all is well.

We are in Southern Missouri and we have lots of ice and some snow now. Thankfully we still have power. Adorable nest!

HeathahLee said...

We may be getting some of your ice overnight and into tomorrow. Yuck.

On a brighter note, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that series! I have never connected emotionally with fictional characters like I did those in that series. Especially Leanna. Oh, I do love those books. Makes me want to read them again! I have to say, though, that I was a bit disappointed with the last book that was not really part of the series but sort of a continuation. I almost wish I had just left it with just the first three.

Sorry for the blathering. When I start talking about something I love I tend to overkill. : )

The ice storm is supposed to be here by tomorrow. I'm praying the weather men are wrong or that we at least keep power, if they are right.

Love your new nest!

Stay warm!

Oooh I love SSD! And I'm also behind on my goal to read the Bible in a year. That's what I should probably be doing right now...

I did the find the nearest book and turn to page....

The book I saw first is "Five Star Living on a Two Star Budget." The sentences were about the Pizza Hut BookIt club (of all things). The odd thing is....my daughters each have a Book-It coupon that has to be used by January 31. Today is Janauary 30. I had totally forgotten about using them. Looks like we will have pizza tomorrow.

Thanks for this fun activity.
