Thrift Projects

On Tuesday I got to go to the thrift store and found a couple of bargains. My favorite purchases were the Santa prints. I will have to paint the frames but for $6.00 each, I couldn't resist.

I saw this fun idea in the Wisteria catalog and thought that I could make that for a lot cheaper than $40+shipping.

So I found this old frame at the thrift store for $2.00 and stapled some twine on the back and added little clothes pins. After seeing the picture though, I am going to paint it cream like the one in the catalog. I thought I liked the old shabby chic-ness but I think I want a little "cleaner" look.

If I had had more time when I made this, I would have made it a lot cuter with more ribbon and things but I will get to that soon. Oh! I always forget to tell you where I put things. I put it in our laundry room behind the door where I had a regular memo board. This one goes much better with the new color scheme.

I am going out of town this weekend so I will see you on Monday! Have a great weekend!

Forgot to answer your ?, too! TDY stands for 'temporary duty' in the military. When spouses are sent away they call it going on a 'TDY'. So many acronyms~ even growing up military and now married to military I still can't get all of them straight!!! ;) Hugs, Les

That is such a cute idea! I have a notebook full of pictures I've torn out of magazines/catalogs and pasted to the pages. It's full of things I know I can make for less money than they sell it! This is a really good one!

I'm cracking up because I was more up your way this weekend. We probably passed each other on I-40! My family and BFF lives in Alma. There was another CUTE turkey at the Now and Then shop in Fort Smith that wasn't on sale, either. I'm glad I got my turkey on clearance. I guess I lucked out! I hope your mom keeps an eye on it so she can grab it for you when it goes on sale!

Thank you so much for posting the Wisteria frame idea. I would never have been able to see how simple that was to create on my own. But, thanks to your post, I made my own version today and posted the results over on my blog.
