War Eagle

This past weekend in Northwest Arkansas we had a huge craft fair. We call it War Eagle but that is only one location. I do not know how many locations there are but I can think of eight. We woke up bright and early Thursday morning to be at War Eagle Mill at 7:30. The gates open at 8:00 am.
Here is our group. Some of these ladies have been coming here for years!
(Katie, Elizabeth, Mrs. Ray, my Mom, me, Claudia, Katie's mom)
The funny part is that after they open the gates at 8, some ladies start running to the tents! We laugh at this every year for some reason. We always wonder where they are running too.
Here is some of the parking:
After two full days of shopping the booths, I didn't come home with hardly anything. I was very surprised but my goal was to find some Christmas decorations and I could not find any I liked. I did get one Christmas picture frame.
I also bought a couple of wheat stalks and a decorative "D" sticker. I will have to find somewhere to put it. I just can't pass up a monogram of any kind.
I was very happy to find a decorative plaque with hooks on it for my laundry room. Of course the light switch and alarm system are not in the ideal location but what can you do. I tried to make the best of it by centering the hooks on the wall. We will use this for our keys.
If you ever get the chance to go to War Eagle and all the surrounding craft fairs then go! It is so much fun and you will definitely be able to find some great things.

oh how fun! My Mom would take my sister and I to War Eagle all the time when we were younger. She was really into crafts, unfortunately at that age you really don't appreciate it! Glad you found some goodies :)

Hey Shannon, Oh...you brought back a flood of memories for me. I used to go years ago and would give anything to go again. Back then, they had the most awesome stuff. Thanks so much for sharing, Cindy

I had to laugh because War Eagle has a very different meaning here in the South...it is Auburn University's mascot...actually they are the tigers, too, which I have never really understood, but anyway! We also have a great craft fair here called Homestead Hollow that my mom and I go to sometimes...isn't it nice to go in the Fall? Glad you had fun and I love the Christmas frame you got!

War Eagle looks like so much fun. Our little county has "Heritage Days" with all sorts of arts and crafts and many other things, but I didn't get to go this year due to my pregnancy.

The Christmas picture frame is cute and I love monogrammed anything too!

Looks like so much fun...I'm from Okla., so I might need to road trip next year. It looks like a great fair. I love your Christmas frame!!

Looks like fun! LOL @ the ladies running. I don't get that either. I guess they figure they want to get the "good stuff" before anyone else. Because with a show that big, there's not enough "good stuff" out there, right? :b

We have a flea market in Canton (east Texas) that has been around for like 100 years (literally) and is acres and acres. I'm itching to go. It's on the first weekend of each month. I haven't been in a while.

Looks like you found some treasures Shannon! I am always amused at how they storm the tents, regardless of which show you are at when it opens. I guess they don't think there will be anything left for the rest of us if they get there first? Glad you got to get out and enjoy the shows and beautiful weather we had this weekend.

Sounds like you had lots of fun! Love the wall hanging and the other goodies you got. Now I must admit I love your laundry room. You have it so classy that I now am looking for stuff to make mine cute also. Never really thought of decorating my wash room but oh it looks so much better when you do.

Gosh, Arkansas looks so beautiful! Glad you guys had a good time. Someday I am gonna go there!

I am so jealous. I see craft fairs like that on TV and wish there was something like that around me. I am three hours away from any decent home decor shopping. Sad! It looked like a great time! Thanks for sharing your weekend.

First of all.... WAR EAGLE! Your War Eagle caught my eye because we are now paying Auburn University incredible amounts of money to send our daughter to school there! She loves it and my husband loved it! I am so glad that you had a great time and found some awesome treats! What a great time!
WAR EAGLE all around!

I just love the mental picture of women running as soon as they are allowed to go in and get stuff! hahahahaha! (I'd probably be one of the ones running...it's that whole herd mentality thing...and sometimes I just get too excited! hehe!) Sorry you didn't find as much as you wanted. The stuff you did get was good, though!

Mandi said...

I love a good craft fair! Too bad you didn't find more treasures to bring home. I really like the Christmas frame.

Hi there Shannon, we don't have anything like this, but I would probably be one of the ladies running. I might even have to use distraction methods like, "Oh look at that over there!" and keep running to my destination. I'm not above trickery. Then again I say that, but I've never been to anything like that. Very cool. I like the plaque with the hooks. It's beautiful.

War Eagle sounds so fun. I'm wishing we had something like that here. Girl, I have to tell you that your laundry makeover has inspired me to start getting my laundry room in order. It's a project I have been putting off bc it requires the room to be painted, but truthfully, you've inspired me to do it. Thanks!! -Mandi

I know what that means... I have the thermostat and the door bell box right on the wall in my living room. I hung some plates and a decorative sconce that help desguise those horrable things. :) xo Vanessa ps. Love the plaque!

Looks like you had fun, and that is a cute frame. Been dealing with sickiness here, but I saw your laundry room, and I'm loving it. Great ideas. Can't wait to see what you do with the monogram.

Looks like a fun time! You did find some neat things. Drat about not finding some cool Cmas stuff though. Bummer. Oh well~ an excuse to shop some more and hunt around! You had asked about the camera. I have a Nikon D40 and love it! But, it's so big to carry about. I need a new smallish one to pop in my diaper bag. What kind do you use? It takes great photos, too! I need to do an entry on that asking what folks use as their 'everyday' camera that is smallish. Happy day wishes to you hun~ Les

I hope you get one Shannon! I got the extra zoom lens, too, which was a big help to get some close shots during B's soccer games! Now, I need to take a class at our local camera shop to learn all about the bells and whistles...I'm clueless still! If you blow up some of the single pics from past post you can see them well. I do think it does a great job! I can see every tiny detail on the kids faces and I love that! Hugs, Les

I've been wanting to go to War Eagle Show for a few years but never get around to making the trip. I'm in Hot Springs, AR. I know I've been disappointed with our local craft shows...seems like the same ole' country stuff that's been around for years at every show. Is War Eagle any better?

I absolutely love your blog! The laundry room turned out beautiful, including your buys at the craft fair. My Mom and I enjoy going to these too! Thanks for sharing.

I always "frame" my lightswitches/alarm pads, etc...if they look awkawrd or I want them to look more purposeful/pretty, any black or white frame would work, I also saw something similiar on the Nester's site too, just a thought!
