Opinions Please

My laundry room is my latest project. It is far from finished. Here is a sneak peak at one corner. I need your opinions on the frame. Click on the pictures to enlarge them.

OPTION A:

OPTION B:

OPTION C:

OPTION D:
Or OPTION E: none of the above, start over.

Please let me know what your opinion is in the comments. I would love to know and could use your help!

I really like options A and D!

Mrs. Trixi said...

I really like the frame but what about something laundry related in it. Such as a clothesline or the word laundry. Just a thought. I also really like the Davis one option A. I think it all looks really cute.

Maranda said...

I like option D the best-stands out the most!

sherri said...

I think it's a very cute vignette but I'd like to see something else instead of the frame. The other items are so bulky and hard edged I think something softer would be a nice foil for all that glass. I think the frame blocks the pedestal. One of the nice parts of having all the height that the pedestal affords is being able to see that space underneath. Anyway, I think you could put a tassel in the basket, or a small plant that likes humidity (air fern) to add a bit of softness.

Great blog, love your ideas and have even implemented a few.

Brooke said...

I vote for A. Looks cute!

Wendy said...

I'm not going to be much help because I liked option A and option D equally. They're both so cute!

Shannon C said...

I like A. I also think it would be cute to have a little chalkboard there with the word Laundry or something like that.

Anonymous said...

I like option A the best. Option C would be my next fav.

Darlene said...

I actally like B without the frame the best because I LOVE that pedestal with the bunny lamp on it and the frame blocks it. But if you do want a frame I am with Shannon C on a little chalkboard with laundry written on it.

kate said...

I like D!

Betsy said...

I like Option D. And I just have to say that I am very impressed that your laundry room is decorated. Mine seems to be a catch all for all my mail, projects, junk, etc. I am feeling an inspiration. I would love to see other peoples laundry rooms.

I agree with mrs. trixi. I think something laundry related in the frame like the word SOAP or SUDS. Very cute no matter what you choose.

Wifeof1Momof4 said...

I like A, but would have something in the frame related to the room or clothes or something ...

Cute .. can't wait the WHOLE thing.

Mandi said...

Option B is my favorite because that beautiful pedestal can be seen! But I do like what you have framed in Option A. It would be nice to add a third decorative item to the mix...maybe use something smaller.

I want to do laundry in your laundry room!!! It looks so warm and inviting.

I love the frame with Home Sweet Home......

Blanca said...

This is a hard one everything looks so cute. I am going with option A but I do love the one with the spoons.

My home - My life said...

I like D - clean and simple!

coco said...

Shannon,
I like option D but what about using an image that is laundry related like an old iron or ironing board? Ballard designs has some cute laundry prints that might give you an idea.

Coco

Holly said...

Well, I appear to be in the minority, but personally I would not do the spoons. It's cute, but to me it just doesn't go with laundry detergent. Like it's kind of implying you should eat what's in the canister. I like Sherri's idea for a little plant, or the chalkboard would be cute. I like the 'home sweet home', but I'm not so sure about the green color of it.

Alex and Jill said...

I definitely think you need the frame sitting where it is... I like that. I would put a quote in the frame about laundry...like..."drop your drawers here" LOL

Buzzings of a Queen Bee! said...

I like the spoons. They are unique and very pretty. I think it's going to look great no matter what!

AJ said...

Oh! I really like how you have your last name drawn in the sand. So much so that I think you should blow that up and frame it somewhere in your house:) I like the home sweet home version but have you thought of putting some sort of laundry quote in there, or is that too cheesy for you? Just a thought!! Ok, I just read the other comments. Someone else had the same thought as me:)

Tracy said...

Option A is my fav - perfect the way it is!

Sherri's Southern Style said...

I like A - I LOVE (the other)Sherri's suggestion about a plant or something else to soften up the edges so you can still see the pedestal.
Can't wait to see what you decide!

Cari said...

I like option A & D equally! Keep us posted on how it turns out. Have a great day!

Emily said...

I vote option D or something that says Laundry.

Carrie said...

I like D the best

Jen - Balancing beauty and bedlam said...

I have no opinions, I am just oogling over a completely clean washer and dryer with nothing on it but cute stuff. :)

Blissfully Enamored said...

i love the idea of putting the detergent in the apothecary jar!! i wish my laundry room was clean enought to look like this!!! :)

My Place of Peace said...

D is my fav!

ROXY said...

I vote for "D"!! Thanks for sharing:)

gail said...

Shannon~

I vote for option A.

I keep my detergent in that same jar!!

Nikki said...

I think a smaller frame (so you can see more of the pedestal) with the word SOAP or something else laundry related.

I love the rest of it.

The Berry's Patch said...

I love how you gather accessories on trays. I liked "C" the best.

Brandee :-)

Gina said...

I like option C the best. But I still think it looks a teensy weensy like there's too much on the tray. When you look at option B you can see what I mean. Maybe it's the size of the lamp/pedestal competing with the canister? I like Sherry's idea. Try the canister w a tassel, a plant, and the frame. Can't wait to see the final result. Thanks for sharing.

Kim said...

I agree with Sherri. Very cute! Love the lamp but the idea of something round/soft with a different texture would look good (tassle, wicker balls)

I am jealous of that peaceful laundry room! I am also afraid that my moody dryer might shimmy the bunny right onto the floor!

amanda said...

I liked option B. It looked less cluttered to me. Or perhaps something smaller would work in that spot, or like the other ladies said, something laundry related like the word soap or bubbles or something shorter.

Marlee Belle said...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! I think I am in the minority but what a great idea! Next time I go to the beach, I'll be doing this for our family! oH, and we have the same washer!

:o)

Suzann @ Lavender and Roses said...

Okay, the color inside the frame in option C brings out the green in the plate on the wall. Perhaps you could have it say something like wash day or something about laundry? They are all really cute though.

Vashti said...

First I love them all! maybe remove the frame and put in a small plant like african violets.
I am also loving the jar of detergent! I never think of these kinds of things.....thanks for your ideas!
xx

Jill said...

I'm thinking option D is my favorite BUT that pedestal is SO cute! I'd hate to see it covered up... honestly, it's all beautiful! I have to go scrub down my washing machine now. Yours is SO clean! LOL

~The Robin's Nest~ said...

I agree with Mrs Trixi put a laundry saying in the frame or a decorative piece of wood with the laundry saying on it. Like: "Life is like laundry~Loads of fun!"
Or "Our laundry room has the latest dirt" or "Laundry Room...Drop your drawers here!" Last one I promise:)
"Laundry~Help Wanted"
As for the photos you put on there -All of them are great-You have a very classy laundry room!

Leigh said...

I like them all,. I really do.

left some link bling for you at my place.

Christy said...

I vote for Option A... love the picture in the frame! now, I want to go to the beach so that I can take a picture like that!!!

joelandbecca said...

Yeah I am for option A and D. Your home is like stepping into a magazine! I love it! So clean and so put together. But back to the laundry room, I like the pop of green

Haley said...

D- Its way too cute not to use it!

queenbee said...

I like the frame, but I think I would do something more laundryish. Maybe a few clothespins in a small glass container. Or what about framing some clothes pins.

Kate said...

Wow, these ladies give some great ideas. I like the idea of changing the photo out for something laundry related...but I also like the violet idea. They don't like direct sunlight anyway. Or a cool old-fashioned scoop to go with the detergent? Hmm. So many ideas, only one room. :)

Rambling Girl said...

WOW...too many choices and I like them all...First of all I did not know they made laundry detergent in granules anymore. Guess I just see the liquid kind. I love the fact you put yours in the jar. Now I do agree with something to the sound of laundry since your in the room. But honestly I love all of them so guess I am no help. Can't wait to see what you decided on.

Queen B said...

I vote for A. I like D, but not with forks. Cute!!

I like A and D. Such a cute laundry! Can't wait to have mine put back together!

lindanuts said...

I LIKE a BUT MAYBE SOMETHING LAUNDRY RELATED AND A TAD MORE PRIM OR COUNTRY. LOVE THE LAMP.

Sarah said...

I vote for D! I also love your new black door. It looks awesome. We just had to get a new front door and I went with black and was thrilled with how it looks.

Deb said...

I really like the Davis one. You could also do a single "D" monogram letter in the frame. I remember seeing a website on Today's Creative Blog where you could download monograms. Just a thought. I wouldn't mind doing laundry if mine looked like that.

Jerri Lynn @ Southern Sassyness said...

You are so cute! Love the last picture best, but think that it would really stand out with something laundry related - I think that would be darling! Or a chalkboard, too....you got some really great ideas from other ladies!

Miss(es) Canadian Pie said...

I'm going to go with no frame. It just seems to much to me. I agree with the comment from Sherri who said the frame blocks the pedestal. I'd keep it simple. Lookin great so far though! Can't wait to see the finished product.

Dana D said...

LOVE B & C.
Don't like D. The photo was more kitchen-ish, I thought.
The simplicity of B is really nice!

(Lots of opinions from me, but maybe not so much help!!!)

Oh my goodness just found your blog. You have impeccable taste. So excited to have found a new blog for inspiration. My vote is for the no frame option.

Please let me know where I can purchase that adorable lamp.

I think simplicity is best, so I choose A.

It says a lot and makes a statement without too much clutter.

Jennifer said...

I like the spoons. So cute! I love the lamp! Can you see your laundry room? Its so cute!

At Home In Georgia said...

It looks pretty...but I like A or B the best...have fun!

Alyce said...

I actually like option B w/out the frame. The pedestal is too cute not to be seen. Maybe you can find something smaller..like a pretty stainless or hammered silver scoop (for your detergent) to go in that spot. I am totally stealing your idea of the picture w/ your name in the sand! Don't ya just want to fly here and decorate for me??

mx2mommy said...

LOVE the frame...and the Davis picture is a winner!

Joy said...

I like D because it repeats the theme of the plates on the wall.

Now, I'm off to find your post about light cords. I have my light right next to me so I can try it as I read it.

Our Blessed Family said...

Option D is my vote!!! Very cute!!

LovesPINKandPEARLS said...

option c and where did you get the bunny lamp, its to die for?

Lora said...

Well, it looks like you have plenty of opinions to sort through:) I think I like *A* best though, or maybe a laundry related item in the frame. Definitely show us the option you go with!

Emilie Nichole said...

I like B - I think it's because the frame is not in there... it does need a third thing to balance it out... how about a book like this

http://www.amazon.com/Laundry-Comforts-Caring-Clothes-Linens/dp/0743271459

just the first book I came across online :)

Kathi said...

Looks like you've gotten a ton of great suggestions. I like the ideas Sherri had of adding a plant & maybe a tassel on your canister. Do you need the lamp in there for lighting?? The lamp and the canister seem like they are competing. I'd try changing it out with a plant and then use your frame...but put something laundry related in it like many of the other girls have suggested. Can't wait to see what you decide.

AndreaLeigh said...

I like option A. Thanks for the comment, btw!

Angela said...

I'm voting for C (though they all look good!).

julie & joe said...

I like version B.

Cameo said...

I was thinking maybe a little something smaller. The frame is little overpowering to the pedestal and hides the pretty bow.

Sue said...

My first choice is A because I LOVE your name written in sand. But......after reading the other comments I think you should enlarge that picture and use it somewhere else in your house (for sure) and go with Robin's ideas on sayings for a laundry room on a little chalkboard. I am so jealous of your NEAT laundry room. I keep the door closed to mine most of the time.

Deidre said...

Oh, I love the lamp - LOVE it! But, that's not the question, is it?? :)

I do like the frame - maybe with the word 'laundry'? I like C best :)

MizSmoochieLips said...

D!! Hands down :) Plus D is for "dirty clothes"
and "D"etergent!

A or D!

Shannon...you know me well enough to know that I don't know a darn thing about decorating. However, I skimmed through what everyone else said and I LOVE Mrs. Trixi's idea of doing something laundry related...maybe even putting it in a round frame (which would be like a soap bubble)... or maybe even painting a little wooden sign that looks distressed and says "Laundy 50 cents"....just some thoughts from your wanna-be good decorater friend!! love your site and your ideas....

Your non-decorater friend! :)

I acutally love option B! :) doesnt look cluttered, but has a nice arrangement!

I like D the best.

C Home Sweet Home :)

Bella said...

I love love love the spoons! So cute, but I question whether or not they go with the room? So my second choice would be Option A! I would also kind of agree with the idea of putting something that has to do with the room in there...perhaps maybe in the frame?! I'm going to have to 'steal' your plates on the walls idea...so pretty and elegant!

Suzanne said...

Hey Shannon!
Wow! 86 comments for a laundry room. You are a popular girl!! Anyways...I like option A if I had to pick, but I thought about maybe putting a vintage "laundry" picture in the frame. Something like clothes hanging on the line or someone putting clothes on the line. I think something fun like that.
Happy Fall!
Suzanne

P.S.-We used to have those green plates like is on the wall in the laundry room when I was a kid. Everything always seems to come back!

Amber said...

I like option A the best. As many others have said, something laundry-related would be really cute. Oh, and I'm super impressed that your laundry room is decorated! You should see my laundry room. I'll give you a clue - it's in our unfinished basement. Maybe one day...

aswewalk.com said...

I like C. Won't that tray vibrate right off your washer? And does it open on the front?

Kendra said...

I like the frame idea but I think it needs something laundry related in it....what about printing out this saying...

LAUNDRY...it's loads of fun!

in a cute font of course. Just a quick idea that came to mind.

Kirby3131 said...

You have 90 comments already LOL Well, that might be more opinions than you actually want! hahaha

I like the one that says Davis. I'm assuming it is your family name.

Amanda said...

love the lamp! i vote too for chalkboard or something in the frame, i would also do a little "clothesline" above on your cabinets with little black and white photos or laundry type prints (ballards like) - or just little hankies or something. just a thought?

Carrie said...

Ok...I know I am going to be absolutely NO help here because I like so many of the suggestions. But my favorite option you showed was option A.

But I also like the ideas of the violet or the laundry related sayings...especially the soaps or suds idea.

You have GREAT taste so I am sure whatever you choose will look perfect!

Kristin said...

i love the pop of color option C provides! The rest looks great :)

Jenn said...

I would go with option B - less is more.

Beautiful ideas girl!

ka1t_lyn said...

Oh option A is my favorite, and I love those plates on the wall!

Amber said...

It's going to look cute no matter what you decide! My favorite of the framed prints is the spoons because they just pop. But, I think I like the idea of removing the frame so you can see the cake pedestal. Maybe you could get a smaller frame and do a created picture like the ones you did in your bathroom with some scrapbook paper and clothespins? I also like the idea of a tiny little blackboard with a laundry quote. You could hot glue clothespins on the frame of the chalkboard. Let us know what you decide!

Leslie said...

They are all really cute, I am not sure I like the frame, what if you put some cute paper in it and glued an antique clothespin or something laundy related in it. Or get a smaller version of your big jar and put clothespins in it, I just did that for my sister in her laundry room and it looked so cute. You are the expert, whatever you choose will be cute! I would do anything for a laundry room! I have to hang out in the basement!

Kim said...

I like A & D! :0)

Jennifer said...

I like option C...but I agree something with LAUNDRY (or something similar) would be cute in the frame..or on a chalkboard.

Lora said...

Wow, you've certainly brought out the opinions today:)

Just wanted to tell you that I've tagged you over on my blog.

Cali Girl said...

How cute! Love the bunny lamp! Out of those options I would choose B, the frames you have there seem to high... if maybe you have a shorter frame, one that is right below the stand, that would work!

By the way... I have passed a wonderful award on to you.. please come on over and see!

I am thinking option C. I like that the mat co-ordinates with the green trim on the plate and the Home Sweet Home suits any room in a home.

You have 107 comments at this point, so chances are somebody already posted my idea. You've got great taste, Shannon, but since it's a laundry room, what about framing a black and white image of something related to laundry? You might find something online - perhaps a woman in old-fashioned clothing bent over a laundry basket next to a clothesline, or a woman doing laundry with a washboard and tub or using a hand-cranked roller. I've found some great images by searching under "public domain image" and then adding the specifics to the end of the search term.

I love what you're already doing and think you're basically there! (If you love what you have, go with that and ignore me/us!)

Blessings,

Michelle

Option D is my favorite. I love the spoons in the frame. I'm 111 so I'm sure you've figured it out by now :-) I'm in the process of doing the exact same thing to my laundry room. I don't have a lamp though. I'll have to look into that. Take care

I should put a reading nook in mine at this rate, hu?!? Can't wait to see what you choose! xo Happy weekend hun~ Les

I choose option B with something else in the basket as the third item. Something laundry related like clothespins, small antique iron, or something related to your laundry room theme.

I would do without the frame (although I like your frame ideas- I would definately use them somewhere). I think a plant like an english ivy might be nice. It would soften the look a bit. You make me want to blog. I like getting new ideas for my home too. I enjoy how you decorate on a budget. You prove a beautiful home doesn't have to cost alot.
