Laundry Reveal

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get these pictures up! My mom came up Wednesday and we got to go to War Eagle yesterday. War Eagle is a HUGE craft fair that I will post more about later.

I was so happy to have all of your opinions on my laundry room. Ya'll were right, the frame was just too big. Several of you said I should replace it with something softer. So I went with your advice!

BEFORE:
BEFORE:
I had some wasted space in my laundry room so I decided to push the washer and dryer apart and put a table in the middle. I called my dad with the dimensions and he had this done that day! It is wonderful! I almost didn't want to use it in the laundry room since it was so pretty but I know I can always use it somewhere else if I need to.
I painted it white and put it in between the washer and dryer and put a skirt on it with upholstery tacks. Now I have so much room to fold clothes or use however I please. I keep my extra detergents and fabric softeners on the shelf underneath.
I went with your ideas of a plant on the tray. However, I did not use a live plant. I used some dried greens from the flower arrangement I used at the baby shower.
I was able to find the rug for 20% off $3.99 at a store closing sale. It goes so much better with the new look than the other colorful one.
I know several of you wanted to see the pedestal that the lamp is on but that wasn't what I was trying to show. Seeing just a touch of it was enough for me. To answer several of you, yes, you can see this room from the kitchen and part of the living room. We walk through it several times a day because it connects to our garage and most of all our guests come and go this way. That is why I wanted to make it more of a room. The door is rarely closed. I love how it turned out and enjoy seeing it every day.
Just for fun, the results of the poll (some of you gave several opinions so I counted those too):
"Davis" picture-36 votes
No frame-14
"Home Sweet Home"-15
Spoons-33
Something different-32
Thanks so much ladies! I knew I could count on you!

Great idea with the table! How great of your dad to make that, and have it done the same day!

I wish we had a bigger laundry room. Ours is a walk-through like yours from the kitchen to the garage. But the washer is on one side, the dryer on the other, so no room for folding laundry in there. I'd actually love to have a laundry room with a sink!!

I love it! It makes me wish that I had a laundry room instead of just a big nasty basement. I think the toile was a great addition. How was War Eagle? I haven't been there since I was a kid. Can you believe that I lived in NWA for 5 years and never went to the carft shows?

It's lovely Shannon! What a creative use of the space between your machines. I love the table and the space it provides.

BTW, what's the color on the walls? So nice and warm.

Holy heavens I love the table inbetween with the fabric. SO CUTE!

Good Morning Shannon,
Your laundry room is lovely! The toile is so pretty, I adore toile and it does help it to feel more like a room than just a utility space. And you're very lucky to have such a handy Dad to make you such a great table! Lucky girl!
Have a wonderfully blessed weekend!

Shannon, I love it. I have a space on the side by my dryer...hmmm, maybe I could push that over...I think the space is much more narrow.

Constant source of inspiration you are!

Shannon, you have definitely got the touch. Your home is just so cozy and homey:) Love what your dad made and how you dressed it up. That fabric is gorgeous!!! The items you put on top of your washer look like they were just meant to be there! I too want to know the wall color:)

THis looks SOOO great, Shannon! I can't believe your dad made that so fast! Can he come and build me some things, too? ;) LOL!! I love the little toile skirt, and it does look like an inviting little entry room now!

Blessings,
Stacey

Look at you! This is too cute. I am amazed that you can make even a laundry room adorable!!

It turned out great. My room is more of a robins egg blue and I plan on doing black and white toile also. I just have to find the right pattern. I have an entire 3400 sqft to decorate and it's going to take a long time...so the laundry room won't be done for a while. Love your blog.

So gorgeous! Our laundry room is a good size, but we've filled it up. I'd love to do something like you've done. But we have front loaders on pedestals, so our washer/dryer is tall. I do keep the kids shoes in the drawer of the pedestal under the washer. That saves a lot of space. I wish I had a narrow table of some sort to go under the window in there, but I'm afraid it would cramp it up. I might try it though..I need your dad to whip me one up ;-)
Our laundry room can be shut..in fact the door stays shut a lot. When you walk through the side door, its the room on the right..perfect location. but w/ a freezer in there, sink, cabinets, water heater, canning supplies, etc..it gets crowded!
wow, I've rambled!

I love it! I need a table like that between my washer and dryer...such wasted space between there, great idea!

Your laundry room is gorgeous, and I'm sure it makes doing laundry much more pleasant. I love doing laundry anyway, but I think I would do more of it if I had a cute room like this to do it in.

I wish I could make it to War Eagle this year. I miss Applegate as well, but it's pretty far away now, huh? BTW, I'm making my first trip to Oops next weekend. Can't wait!

Diane said...

Beautiful! It looks so warm and cozy. I'm glad that most of all you enjoy walking through it. I hate my laundry room, but thankfully, the door is almost always closed and no one sees it.

Scrapper Mom said...

Wow, Shannon. That looks so good. I wish I could make my laundry room more appealing, but there's barely room to turn around in there. I bought a set of stackables a few years ago to give me a little extra space and it's better now, but no place for decorations.... Good job!

I LOVE the table idea!! Not sure if I could do the tray on the dryer though since I usually need the space to fold and stack. Maybe the table will be enough though. VERY nice!!

It's beautiful. Love the toile even if it is covering up the great little table. (Way to go dad.)

That table is a great idea! I will have to push ours apart a little more to see how much room I have to work with. I redid our laundry about a year ago because it is so visible in our home too. I'm adding a few touches to it now and will post mine soon too. This is great!

I love the table. The whole thing turned out great. I have to ask...do you use powdered detergent? I'm only asking because I had the same jar on top of our washer and my friends always laughed because I will only use liquid detergent.

Whenever I get a blog I will post pics of the Blacklion b/c it is awesome!

am am new to your blog and am on inspiration overload!! :) you have wonderful ideas and such a nack for decorating. your laundry room looks just like mine (well, the set up anyway). i'm am going to try to fix it up b/c we walk through it all the time! i love the way you did yours. i especially love the paint color. in all my decorating attempts, paint is the thing that i fail at most. what is the color you used in there, and do you have any other great colors that you have used in other parts of your house that you could share?

Shannon, that looks so great! I have been on the hunt for a table like that to go between my W&D. I have the luxury of having simply a "laundry closet," as opposed to a laundry room. (That was totally sarcastic, in case you couldn't tell...haha!) And so I have wanted one so that I can maximize space. Your table is adorable. I have seen a couple base cabs at IKEA that would work...but, of course, I'd much rather have a cute table! I love that paint color.

I love the table between the washer and dryer. If I ever decide to "makeover" my laundry room, I've got to give that a try. That is a big IF since it has a door and is not a pathway anywhere! Thanks for the photos!
