Don't Forget The Bed

As you are warming up your home and changing out your decorations for more fall/winter decorations, don't forget your bed. We have a pretty summer-y looking bed so during the cooler months I like to warm it up a bit.
BEFORE:

AFTER:
I changed out the shams, quilt, accent pillow and duvet to a much warmer color. It doesn't have to be expensive either. I got this duvet cover at TJ Maxx on clearance for $25. The quilt and shams were Christmas gifts last year from my parents but I have seen similar ones at TJ, Target and even Walmart. I already had the accent pillow. The key is to not have to change everything. I just chose a few key pieces and got a whole new look.

What a great room...I love your warmer bedding. I just bought some velvet pillow shams that I am planning to switch out for winter. I am some what limited with all the "color" in my room!

OOOO I could just dive right on. It looks so puffy and soft...aww. Great idea. I have never changed like that. I love the way it looks. How nice to relax in there with a candle on. Enjoy!

Wow, great ideas!! Our bedroom looks the same all year long. Love the ideas you incorporated though. I wonder if I could make something work with our color scheme.....you're so creative! THanks for sharing - I always love your before and after pics!

Very nice! I usually use my regular, palm designed comforter in the winter and switch to matlesaiise (butchered that spelling, where is spell check when you need it?) in the winter.

Hi Again!

I really love how you changed just a few pieces for a BIG impact!! Do you mind if I ask what color paint you have on your walls in your bedroom? My husband and I are redecorating ours as a Christmas present to each other. We are in the middle of paint swatches as I write! Love the warm neutral you picked!

Blessings :)

Jeremy didn't trust me either, but I think more than the trust, he didn't want to do it himself! It was easier than I thought, I have never used the drill before!

Love your bed. I love that you don't have matching lamps on your bedside tables...I do the same thing and people think I am crazy. Feminine for me, masculine for him.

That is a fantastic idea. What a great way to change the entire look, but not in a big way. Good tip.

Mah vel ous! I wish I could have a white bed... my kids would be drawn to it like moths to a flame and then it wouldn't be white for long!

I love you what you did and it looks so cozy. I just want to get in and sink in. Great idea and job. I was thinking of having fall/winter bedding and then white summer bedding too. Just got the push I needed. :)

What a great idea - love your bed both ways. I don't ever change our bed but I might just have to now after seeing your post - my hubby will not be happy with you! haha

I love it. I used to change my bedding every season too..that was before we got a King sized bed years ago...Now, its too expensive to change out.

Love it! Im trying to figure out what to do with my bed coverings. I want layers of pillows like yours...poor husb cringes at the thought of having to move that many pillows at night. He said as long as he can just plop into bed and lay his head on them. Of course he CANT!

Sunny said...

I meant to say in my (previous) comment that we have the same bedroom wall color from what I can tell by the picture. Our bedding is off white though with colored pillows. Again, your bedroom is so cozy looking and warm!

You did a great job at warming it up for fall & winter! Looks cozy!

You are such a great decorator Shannon! I still need to copy your bed ideas and put mine up on stilts! It won't roll right? Oh and I'm not sure if you all have Linens-n-Things by you, but you should go there! They filed for bankruptcy and have so many cute things for the bedroom so cheap...I found the most beutiful bed-in-a-bags that came with shams and decorative pillows... :-)

Mandi said...

I didn't think you could improve on the before, it was great. BUT, you did! I love the fall/winter bed!

I really love the fall look! Gotta love MORE plates above the bed :) Thanks for a good idea!

AJ said...

Silly question-do you actually use your duvet? Or do you take it off at night? Kick it to the floor? I'm curious:)

Looks great! The perfect winter warm up. Are your ceilings and walls the same color? Would love to see more. I'm always intrigued when I see a room without traditional white ceilings.
