The Cutest Turtle

You have ever seen!! Zach got to go trick or treating on the downtown square today and he was so cute!
I love the back with the little tail!
He loved the fire truck.
What a pitiful face! His balloon had popped so he was longingly staring at every kid that had a balloon. Poor boy!
You are not going to believe what I won today!! Jules from The Roost hosted a giveaway for a Latico Wallet and I won! Over 200 people entered so I can't believe I won. I never win anything!
The best part about the whole story was that when I emailed her my address we found out that we live in the same town! We were able to talk on the phone and she dropped off the wallet at my house.
I will probably be able to meet her next week when I go to a Christmas Open House at one of my favorite stores.
I love wallets but have never had a Latico. I know a lot of people love them though so I am so excited!! Thanks so much Jules!!

Also, Kali and Joanne tagged me to post the fourth picture from the fourth photo file on my computer:

This is a funny picture of Zach. I think this was the first time I had kept him by myself. We of course had a fun time. I tag Christina. :)

Trick or Treat

I hope you don't run into any trouble tonight:

(This is not meant to offend anyone...just thought it was funny!)

Pumpkin Carving

Our Sunday School had our annual Pumpkin Carving Contest this past weekend. The husbands do come and participate but we always just get a group shot of the girls.
I thought we all did really good this year with the pumpkins! I think you can tell it is our third year to carve. At least we can tell that we have improved. Cody wasn't able to come this year so I helped a tiny bit on the cat pumpkin.

(ghost, skull, cat, egg head, football helmet)

I have gotten some really cute pumpkins submitted for the Pumpkin Carving Contest. So be sure to go here and learn about the contest so you can email me your pumpkin. We will be voting for our favorites on Wednesday, November 3rd and the winner will be getting a great prize from Oops and could involve this:

Look What I Got

Have you been to Glitter and Bliss yet? She has the cutest blog and makes the greatest things. I was so excited when I saw a big box in the mail today! She made me a "Bless Our Nest" picture frame and magnet.
Look how cute these are! I love the little magnet. I'm going to keep it on my oven so I can see it all the time. Go here and order what you want. She makes great jewelry too!

Don't Forget The Bed

As you are warming up your home and changing out your decorations for more fall/winter decorations, don't forget your bed. We have a pretty summer-y looking bed so during the cooler months I like to warm it up a bit.

I changed out the shams, quilt, accent pillow and duvet to a much warmer color. It doesn't have to be expensive either. I got this duvet cover at TJ Maxx on clearance for $25. The quilt and shams were Christmas gifts last year from my parents but I have seen similar ones at TJ, Target and even Walmart. I already had the accent pillow. The key is to not have to change everything. I just chose a few key pieces and got a whole new look.

I've been BOO-ed!! Robin from The Robin's Nest and Rambling Girl BOO-ed me today.
Here are the rules: Pick some people to BOO and let them know that they have been BOO-ed. Have them link back to your blog to pick up their treat (picture) so they can BOO their friends. Put the picture on your sidebar so everyone knows that you have been BOO-ed. BOO!

More Plates

One of our local stores, Trees N Trends is going out of business. (Is this a chain store?) Everything was 20% off including sale items. I was so happy to find these salad plates on sale for $6.00 for a set of four. I bought two boxes so I got eight plates for less than ten dollars. I didn't know what I was going to do with them, I just knew they were pretty and I usually regret not buying enough of something so that is why I bought eight.
When I got home I was thinking about what to do with them and remembered that the arrangement over the guest bed needed something else. I liked this arrangement but definitely thought it could use more.
So I added three of the plates to it and it makes much more of a statement now. I like this so much better. I'm not sure what I will do with the remaining five plates but I'm sure I'll think of something or I could actually use them for food!

Sunday Song

Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Thomas O. Chisholm

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father,
There is no shadow Of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not;
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Summer and winter And springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars In their courses above;
Join with all nature In manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, Mercy and love.

Pardon for sin And a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence To cheer and to guide;
Strength for today And a bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, With ten thousand beside!

Thomas O. Chisholm was born in Kentucky, became a Christian at age 27 and wrote this song in 1923. He wrote over one thousand poems and hymns. He admits that there was no big story behind this hymn. He just saw God's blessings every day in his life. This song wasn't very popular at first but was made popular later during Billy Graham Crusades.

Loooong Post

Lately, some nice bloggers have been giving me some awards. I love awards! I never take these for granted. I usually have posts scheduled so I usually don't get these awards posted in a timely manner. I'm so sorry! Some of these go back a couple of weeks so I hope I didn't miss anyone.

Cali Girl gave me this award:
Wendy from the Shabby Nest passed this one along to me:
JuJu made this award and was sweet enough to pass it on to me:
Leigh passed this one on:

Christina & Victoria and Sue were so sweet to send this one my way:

Thank you all so much for these! I feel the same way about all of your blogs!
Erin from Shades of Color tagged me to list 7 random things about me:
This is getting harder and harder!
1. I have ordered something at a drive through, gone to the first window and paid and then driven off without going to the second window to get my food. Not once, but twice! I was too embarrassed to go back and get my food.
2. My favorite color right now is green.
3. I went to a small, private school K5-12th grade.
4. I love buying makeup but I'm not very good at applying it.
5. I recently got a new SUV (new to me at least).
6. Speaking of my SUV, I have always driven an SUV (except ages16-18) and I don't think I could ever go back to a car. They feel too small!
7. I do not like hot and cold desserts together. So, no hot fudge sundae for me or hot brownies with ice cream. I really only like cooled desserts.
Prissy Southern Preppy and Brittany tagged me also. I'm going to combine the two:

1. Clothes Shop: Gap
2. Furniture Shop: The Gift House
3. City: I love where I live
4. Sweet: Chocolate
5. Drink: Diet Coke
6. Music: Christian
7. TV Show: All-time favorite is Friends, Current favorite is Office
8. Film: Too hard to pick one!
9. Workout: I'm not sure what this is. :) Probably walking/jogging in the neighborhood with Cody.
10. Pastries: I do not like pastries.
11. Coffee: I do not like coffee or any hot drink really.
I want to encourage you to go visit any of these blogs that you haven't been too!! They are all so good!

Laundry Continued

Tired of my laundry room yet? Probably. This is the last post, I promise! (Well, for now at least.) After I finished my laundry room, I thought the upper cabinet needed something. My grandmother gave me this cute bird cage so I added a few other things I had. The bird cage is really heavy (I'm thinking ceramic?) and she says it is really old. This sat on a ledge by the stairs in her house and I remember playing with it when I was little. I loved to open and close the little door. I finally feel that the room is finished now.

Guess What

Guess what I got to do on Sunday?

I got to watch my cute little nephew all day! Unfortunately it was at Katie's expense. She was sick Saturday night until Sunday morning and in great pain so I headed over to their house while they went to the ER. Turns out she had appendicitis and had to have emergency surgery to remove her appendix. She is home now and feeling much better. My day with Zach was wonderful! Of course he was perfect and in a great mood. We went to Target and hung out at the house. I don't know if he could be any cuter!

PS Several of you asked and yes, I did darken my hair. Now it is maintenance free! :)

Copy Cat

I have seen this family magnet frame all over blogland but I have no clue where it originated from. Everyone has said they got the magnet at Joann's or Michaels and we do not have either so Ally was so sweet to mail me one. I had this old picture frame laying around and just added some toile scrapbook paper to the back and I was finished. Thanks for all the inspiration from everyone! And thanks Ally !
UPDATE: This idea originated with Cherry.

War Eagle

This past weekend in Northwest Arkansas we had a huge craft fair. We call it War Eagle but that is only one location. I do not know how many locations there are but I can think of eight. We woke up bright and early Thursday morning to be at War Eagle Mill at 7:30. The gates open at 8:00 am.
Here is our group. Some of these ladies have been coming here for years!
(Katie, Elizabeth, Mrs. Ray, my Mom, me, Claudia, Katie's mom)
The funny part is that after they open the gates at 8, some ladies start running to the tents! We laugh at this every year for some reason. We always wonder where they are running too.
Here is some of the parking:
After two full days of shopping the booths, I didn't come home with hardly anything. I was very surprised but my goal was to find some Christmas decorations and I could not find any I liked. I did get one Christmas picture frame.
I also bought a couple of wheat stalks and a decorative "D" sticker. I will have to find somewhere to put it. I just can't pass up a monogram of any kind.
I was very happy to find a decorative plaque with hooks on it for my laundry room. Of course the light switch and alarm system are not in the ideal location but what can you do. I tried to make the best of it by centering the hooks on the wall. We will use this for our keys.
If you ever get the chance to go to War Eagle and all the surrounding craft fairs then go! It is so much fun and you will definitely be able to find some great things.

Sunday Song

The Solid Rock
Edward Mote

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
O may I then in Him be found!
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne!

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.

In 1797 Edward Mote was born into poverty. Never allowed to have a Bible, he somehow managed to hear the gospel and believe. He grew up to be a skilled carpenter and on his way to work one day, wrote this chorus in his head. Before the day was finished he had written all the verses. That was in 1834. In 1852, he gave up his business and became a preacher until he died in 1873.

Laundry Reveal

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get these pictures up! My mom came up Wednesday and we got to go to War Eagle yesterday. War Eagle is a HUGE craft fair that I will post more about later.

I was so happy to have all of your opinions on my laundry room. Ya'll were right, the frame was just too big. Several of you said I should replace it with something softer. So I went with your advice!

I had some wasted space in my laundry room so I decided to push the washer and dryer apart and put a table in the middle. I called my dad with the dimensions and he had this done that day! It is wonderful! I almost didn't want to use it in the laundry room since it was so pretty but I know I can always use it somewhere else if I need to.
I painted it white and put it in between the washer and dryer and put a skirt on it with upholstery tacks. Now I have so much room to fold clothes or use however I please. I keep my extra detergents and fabric softeners on the shelf underneath.
I went with your ideas of a plant on the tray. However, I did not use a live plant. I used some dried greens from the flower arrangement I used at the baby shower.
I was able to find the rug for 20% off $3.99 at a store closing sale. It goes so much better with the new look than the other colorful one.
I know several of you wanted to see the pedestal that the lamp is on but that wasn't what I was trying to show. Seeing just a touch of it was enough for me. To answer several of you, yes, you can see this room from the kitchen and part of the living room. We walk through it several times a day because it connects to our garage and most of all our guests come and go this way. That is why I wanted to make it more of a room. The door is rarely closed. I love how it turned out and enjoy seeing it every day.
Just for fun, the results of the poll (some of you gave several opinions so I counted those too):
"Davis" picture-36 votes
No frame-14
"Home Sweet Home"-15
Something different-32
Thanks so much ladies! I knew I could count on you!

Happy Birthday Katie!

Today is my sister-in-law, Katie's, birthday! We celebrated last week at Fam Night. We knew we would not be having a Fam Night this week because of her birthday and War Eagle.

Katie ready to blow out the candles.
Me, Katie and Elizabeth
Cody and Zach
Our very own Fam Night Rock Band.
Katie, I hope you have a great birthday!! I could not ask for a better sister-in-law. Thanks for everything you do for me. I love you!

Organizing is truly one of my favorite things to do. These cabinets in my laundry room really give me a headache though because they just seem to always stay messy. I can honestly blame this on Cody though. :) He goes in there to find a household tool and if he can't find it, this is what it ends up looking like.

I decided to separate and label items to make it easier to use them and find them. The best part is that he knows where it goes when he is finished using it.
The other cabinet is truly a catch-all cabinet. It pretty much hold things that my pantry and kitchen cabinets cannot fit.

I moved my laundry supplies somewhere else (check back later to see!) and I just keep things that are too tall for my other cabinets in here.

So far, it has all worked!
