Sunday Song

Be Thou My Vision
Irish Hymn, c. 8th Century

Be thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that thou art;
Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
Walking or sleeping thy presence my light.

Be thou my Wisdom, and thou my true Word;
I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, and I thy true son,
Thou in my dwelling, and I with thee one.

Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise;
Thou mine inheritance, now and always;
Thou and thou only, first in my heart,
High King of heaven, my treasure thou art.

High King of heaven, my victory won,
May I reach heaven's joys, O bright heaven's Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

The only way it could possibly be any more beautiful would be to hear you singing it for us. I love to hear the whole congregation uplifting hymns to the heavens. So sweet********

Beautiful lyrics! Our church plays a lot of contemporary songs, which are lovely, but I miss a lot of the old hymns (Just as I Am, How Great Thou Art, etc.) They remind me of going to church with my grandparents when I was younger.

Have a nice Sunday. . .

Love it. I, too, had this at my wedding. I saw some comments of some girls who said the same. It gives me chills every time I hear it.

This Hymn has always touched my heart. We have a mixed praise service at our church so we still do hymns and mild contemporary music. I enjoy singing them still on occasion.

Thank you for sharing this with us Shannon.
Blessings,
Jody

This was my grandmothers favorite hymn. Played at her funeral and later at our wedding in honor of her and her vision for the Lord. Praise Him!
