Outside Fall Decor

I finally got around to buying mums and pumpkins. It felt weird because it was 83 degrees and I was sweating but it was still fun! I changed things up this year a little but still similar. Here is what I did for the past 3 years.

I made a real pumpkin topiary out of different colored pumpkins. It is always funny to have my geraniums out with mums. I just can't bear to tear them out while they are alive.

This year I had to do some things differently because the place where I get my pumpkins is not there anymore! I couldn't find any "Cinderella" pumpkins anywhere.

I was also kind of lazy with my mums and just bought the ones with the baskets. They haven't started blooming yet but I think the yellow ones will be pretty.
This is the first year I haven't bought red mums. I thought I would try something new. I found this wreath at TJMaxx. I couldn't believe it was only $16.99. I would not be able to make one for any less.
Here is our back porch:
I was lazy with the back porch too. Instead of buying and planting more flowers I just stuck some pumpkins in the pots.
Chris has some great fall foliage...go check it out.
Have a good weekend!

You are way ahead of me! I took my dead petunia basket off the hook on my front porch yesterday. That's as far as I got! Your outside decor looks so pretty. :o)

Shannon,

I agree...it does feel strange buying fall plants when it is still so hot...my first round of mums died within a week! I did go buy some pumpkins & gourds yesterday...don't know how long they will last. They did tell me to cover the stem and the little button on the bottom with tape and give them a coat of clear spray paint. It will make them last a little longer as they will rot from the inside out! Love what you have done!

Oh, I am SO behind. It has been so chilly here this weekend (which is unusual) and I haven't had the time to get mums. That is on my list for tomorrow - I can't wait.

It all looks beautiful, Shannon.

Looks great, Shannon! I hate to tear out my geraniums, too! In fact, I have several pots that remain in place and I always have to dig up the plants and find another home for them, as I still want them to live.

Love the pumpkin topiaries!

Shannon, I LOVE, LOVE your back poarch! I would sit there for hours and never get anything done! :)

Hey Shannon~
I did the same thing and stuck a pumpkin in a planter that was full of dead flowers (of course I pulled the dead ones first). I had no idea thos fun flat pumpkins were known as Cinderella pumpkins. I just picked one up the other day at a local farm by me for get ready...$3.00 - that's cheaper than the regular plain jane pumpkins at Wal-Mart! Thanks for sharing your outdoor fall decor! If I get my act together one of these days I might be able to post mine too!

It looks great! I hope to get something done outside but we decided to paint this fall and It is taking longer than expected. We are hoping to make it to Oops! tomorrow.

It all looks good Shannon. I have yet to start the outside. I wanted to have stacked pumpkins in my urns too, but I wanted artificial fall leaves between them. We still haven't gotten any pumpkins! I looked today for some white ones, or even some that I could paint..nope..not any! What kind of "trees" are those on each side of your front door?

Everything is so cute, as usual.
I know what you mean about the heat. I didn't real pumpkins out because they would rot in no time. Mine are all fake outside.

I am totally inspired by your blog! Great great ideas! I am always searching the internet for ideas on how to decorate and add to my lovely home. I will definitely be adding your site to my blog.

Thanks for inspiring me today!

Please feel free to stop by my two sites when you can. I blog frequently on the first one and only once a week on the second site listed.

It looks so nice and Fallish. It's still over 100 degrees here. If I planted real mums they die quickly. Oh, will it ever cool off. Have a great weekend Shannon. :-)

Everything you've done outside looks beautiful! Love those stacked pumpkins and my favorite thing is your iron bench. I would really like to have a bench like that at my front door. I'll have to see if one will fit. Oh yeah - also love your welcome chalkboard sign. I just love it all!

Wow! I think putting a pumpkin on each step up to the door is enough....Our geraniums are still great and the mums are in bloom. Our butterfly bushes are still blooming until the frost. Marigolds on the patio. Maple trees starting to turn red and gold...It's gonna have to do!

You probably get tired of hearing this - I LOVE it all! Those pumpkins from last year were beautiful! I usually do red mums, too. I'm digging your change to yellow this year! The wheelbarrow is cute and styled perfectly! Thanks for sharing!

Shannon,
Everything you do is beautiful!
About the mums, I have always heard that you should buy the ones that do not have a whole lot of color this time of year as they will bloom better when the weather gets cooler :) So, I can't wait to see their yellow color later this fall! The wreath looks great!

Sarah said...

Your outside looks great! We've been working so hard on the inside of our house that the outside has been sadly neglected! Next year for sure!

those cinderella pumkins are so awesome! i have never seen those before. I would be sad too if I couldn't find them anymore. I think that your porch is darling. You are so good to decorate your back porch-I am too lazy. I figure since the only ones whe see it are my kids, I can be lazy there. I guess I'll use my energy for fun things, like laundry!
