Awards & Quick, Cheap Project

I tried to take pictures last night of some of my fall stuff but it was just too dark and rainy that I couldn't get any good shots. Plus my husband was watching Samantha Who? (Seriously!) and he was in my way. Since it is supposed to rain until Friday it might be this weekend until I can get some good shots. I really need a new camera (hint hint, Mom and Dad!). So I thought I would pass along some awards and show you an EASY project.

Nichole at The Pumpkin Seed gave me this blog and I'm so honored!
I pass it along to Susie at Bienvenue because I love to read her blog.

Thanks Leslie at Our Complete Family for this one!

A "Must See" on my blog list is Jen at Balancing Beauty and Bedlam.

Leslie also passed this one along to me.

I'll pass this along to Katie at Harrington House, although she doesn't update nearly enough for me! :)

Thanks Kitty Scraps for this award!

This one has to go to Scrapper Mom at My Yesterdays, Todays and Tomorrows. She is so creative in her scrapbooks!

On to the project:

I saw this idea on Frills Fluff and Trucks who saw it on My Romantic Home. So technically I am copying a copy. Oh well, a good idea is a good idea! This project was under $8 for me and under $5 for Cindy. I found all three pieces, candlestick, glass plate, and cheese dome at thrift stores and bargain stores. I don't think it could be any easier than this! Just stack them up and glue the candlestick on the glass plate. I didn't have any fresh cupcakes so I had to use my kitchen timer. I am going to keep my eye out for taller glass candlesticks so I can have a grouping of these.

My next post will be my 100th post so come back soon for a giveaway!!

I love it! I need to do this. I am with you on the different heights! Super cute! The cupcake is a timer? Cute!
I love the boo pumpkins. i might just have to copy! No-not might-I must copy!
Tell your husband that all normal people have bins and bins of decor. You are not weird-you are so normal-well at least in my book. When christmas comes around, I will have to take some pics of all of my totes and five tress. Yep-5 trees! i love christmas-I blame the decorating freak part of me on my mom. She has about 20 totes for christmas. So not exagerating here!
Hope you got it all up! Nothing like starting at a bunch of seasonal crap to give you a headache!
Love the family pics! Super cute!

What a great idea - I have 2 candle sticks that I don't know what to do with. They were given to me for my wedding and they are from Tiffany's so I feel the need to display them but I just didn't know how... Thanks for the idea!

well, another great and affordable idea! Thanks Shannon! I have a cupcake that is an old avon perfume bottle!

I just love your fall stuff and can't wait to see more. Glad you had a good trip. I pulled out my bin-yes one of fall things yesterday. And, my hubby said I had so much fall stuff. Well, I said, that is nothing-Shannon has more than 5! Then he was all "who is Sahnnon?" and it turned into a big old long story about how I am crazy about blogs...but my point is...he felt better that I don't have so much fall stuff. But, I felt jealous, cause I want more! So, there ya go! That is why I can't wait to see more of what you have done!

I have all the makings for several of those, and they will all be under $5 each. As soon as I am finished with yard sale stuff they will be put together. I am afraid Hannah may rain the sale out, and then this stuff will stay piled for another month. Yuk!

Cute, cute, cute stand you made! I really need to take some time to go to some local fun shoppes with Miss Priss in tow! I've been a bit nervous since she learned to walk and is now a fussy pants!!! We shall see! If I go, these things are on my 'must hunt for' list!!! Happy 1/2 way through the week day to you! ~ Les

Love all your wonderful ideas! I just enjoy your blog so much and always wonder what will be next. I am hoping to get into the crafty stuff soon and maybe show some of twin's (Fran) fall stuff. I am so sad that I won't be getting out any of my fall stuff this year since we are in a mess gutting the kitchen/dining room/living room but I keep telling my self it will be worth it when we are done. When that day comes I will have LOTS to blog about :o)

About the Twilight books-language? as in foul bad language? no-they were initially written to appeal to teen girls, so the love story is pretty innocent. And the concept does seem strange at first. When I heard about them, I thought for sure I wouldn't like them-but then there came a time that I was home bound for a week, and I got the first one, just to keep me occupied, and I was hooked. There is always a shocker in each book, that you just never saw coming. The whole context takes a big twist. They are fun.
Anyways-if you try them let me know what you think. I am sure at some point I will write again about our next book club meeting. Did I just ramble on forever?!

That is one darling project. I think a real pedestal cake plate would be just as cute with some mini pumpkins in it---or a cheese keeper. I love how you make things out of just a little something-something.
Hey, Shannon, are you still collecting up snack sets? I just happen to have a box full of them. Some are real cute apple-shaped ones. Some are rectangular....I really have no desire or need to keep these. Email me and we can discuss how to get theseto you as cheaply as possible. I want no money for them but I'm not sure how to get them to you.....

Wow! So many awards!! Congrats! I love the cupcake plate!!! I made a "cake" plate like that years ago, but it broke a while back during one of our many moves. Yours is WAY cuter!!

Thank you, thank you. I love your blog too. I will officially give you this shout out when I get all my pretty dishes together. In honor of you, of course. I am still looking, but now have 8. It's been so fun to have something to hunt for.

You inspire me to be on the lookout for so many things that can be turned into something great! I want to copy your candlestick idea. At Christmas do you put a big ornament on them?

I can't wait to see your give away. I never win anything though:(

Have a nice evening!

Ha!! I love that you saw this on my blog and I have yet to finish this project! I'm not sure why, but I'm having a hard time finding a glass plate--I have the other pieces, but no glass plate yet!

Love your kitchen timer, btw!

I also have to add that, thanks to you, I've been searching like crazy for those luncheon plates. Today at an antique store I found a huge stack of the plates for $1.25 each, but no cups!!! I was so disappointed!
