God is Good

"Shall we accept good from the Lord, and not trouble?"

Job 2:10b

I want to tell you why God is good. On July 2nd my husband lost his job. It was a complete surprise and turned our secure world upside down. We had never really planned on something like this happening so we were totally unprepared emotionally. We were totally dependent on God. On August 1st he accepted a new job that the Lord provided for him.

Of course you are thinking I can say God is good because he got a job so soon. I wanted to tell you how God was good while we were waiting for Him to provide a job.

1. We had four+ weeks without his paycheck and never had to dip into our savings.

2. My job was supposed to be ending at the end of August but the week he lost his job I was told that it wouldn't be ending after all and was asked if I could stay on indefinately.

3. The week he lost his job, I got a raise.

4. One morning my car wouldn't start so I took his car to work. I wouldn't have been able to do this if he was working. Also, he had the opportunity to take the day to fix it.

5. He brought us closer to Him and closer to one another.

6. The list could go on and on. I am sure there are countless other ways He revealed and will reveal His goodness.

God is good!

I definitely can speak for that truth too. My husband lost his job and was without one for several months, and I was a stay at home mom. While looking for work he did repair and carpentry work that the Lord provided. We had a daughter in college, along with medical expenses, and were having to pay $600 a mo. just to keep insurance, yet looking back I can't even begin to say we paid our bill because God paid our bills. We always had just enough when the time came. God is good and He always provides. About the movie, I don't like it either, totally guy. He came home and watched it later without me, which was OK.

Like you, our world was turned upside down with a medical procedure gone horribly wrong. I had to leave my career and we've downsized. The Lord has given us countless blessings, we are closer now as a family, and we relish each day together. We've learned what's important and that His eternal gift is only a breath away. I'll send a prayer of thanksgiving for you tonight :)

It is so wonderful to hear of young couples putting their faith in God, keeping the positive attitude, counting their blessings and knowing how to tell the good things when they happen. It proves that He does have a plan....

I found your blog through Kelly's Korner and just wanted to tell you that my husband and I went through something very similiar earlier in the year when he lost his job. It wasn't quite the surprise you two had, but God's sovereignty was very apparent during that season!

Glad to hear he got a new job...good luck!

Praise the Lord!! He gives to us exceedingly and abundantly more than we could ever deserve!!

I am so glad you got to see the hand of the Lord through all of this. I wish you had shared this and I could have been praying but sometimes it is so neat to just wait and see what the Lord does without others even knowing.
Thank you for sharing.
Oh, and congratulations to you and your husband.

I know just how this is! I went 2 months without a paycheck recently and scraped by! But there was still food on our table, the AC was on, and it made me closer to my daughter because it forced me to get creative in spending time with her and not just going to places she likes! :) God is indeed GOOD!

Thanks for sharing your story. You're right. God is good.

My husband lost his job right after our first son was born. It gives me such joy to look back now and see how God carried us through that time and provided for us in such perfect ways.

I'm so glad things resolved quickly for you.
