Favorite Find

At least it is my most recent favorite find. Yesterday I showed you my thrifting finds and said I was saving my favorite find for later. Well, here it is! I know these are not that unusual, actually they are fairly easy to find, but I have just discovered them. However, I cannot take any credit for discovering these. Stacey at The Blessed Nest deserves all the credit.

She introduced me to these luncheon sets when she talked about her favorite yard sale find during the Party. I fell in love when I saw them on her blog and decided I needed some for all the showers and parties I have coming up.
I'm hosting a baby shower in a couple of months so these will be perfect for the finger foods and punch. These two patterns are my favorite but I saw a couple of different sets that I might go back and get.
I'm not quite sure how many I will need but I found 17 sets at 3 antique stores so I'm sure I can find more. I have my mom looking in her town for some and plan on going out to look for some more today. All I can say is, thank you Stacey! I love these and cannot wait to use them.

I think I posted to Stacey's site that I have some of the ones in the 3rd photo. My FIL gave them to me after my MIL died. Sadly, many of the cups have broken. (They are fragile.) Not to worry though, my mom gave me her old woolworth punch bowl and it has plenty of cups and they fit!!! So I use them and since I use them all together along with some glass monogrammed plates my MIL gave me years ago.

Great thrift find! Next you will be adding china pieces that you find that are like that. :D

I've seen these before too and think they are so much fun. When my sister and I went thrifting the weekend she was here, we saw many of these in the stores. Did we buy any, no!

You know what will happen don't you? I will want some and NOT be able to find them anywhere!

Great find!

Those were very popular in the
60's. Very chic. I have even seen them with a fish shaped plate. And, of course, there are some in colors. I love the oval type shape. They don't bend like paper and they don't leak. Again, very chic.....

Very sweet! I have a set of 8 of the Boopie style ones that you have (the one with the round balls). I found them at a thrift store for next to nothing, and I have been waiting to host something where I can use them!! I love your idea of having all the different styles! Can't wait to see pictures from the shower!

Shannon - the 2nd set - that kind of has little round circles - my mom gave me all of my mam-ma's like that when she died. I lOVE them. So I got on ebay and ordered enough that I have 20 plates and 20 cups. I've only used them once or twice but I ADORE them. They are from the 1940's. And there is a little place near where you put your cup that was for ladies to rest their cigarettes. ha ha ha!

Wow you were lucky to find so many. I have a set of dishes my mother-in-law gave me when I was first married but they look like a regular plate and I think they have mushrooms on them and the place for the cup just like yours. I didn't know they came in clear glass and have never seen another set other than the one she gave me. These will be perfect for parties, love them.

You done good girl!
I love that type dish..I love dishes..and it seems to be a weakness of mine. I actually saw a few of those at a thrift store last weekend. I was so tempted to get them, but I think a couple plates didn't have cups, so I left them. Although, I didn't think about the fact that I already have some punch glasses. I could have used them still. Oh well!! I like your rectangle ones the best, I think.

I'm so glad that you were inspired to find these plates and create wonderful memories with them! Trust me when I say you'll use them often. You'll never be sorry you have them! Great job with your shopping finds, and post pics of the plates at the shower you host!

Those are so need. I have seen a few like that at the Goodwill lately, but of course not in sets. I did find a few more Karen Kingsbury books, and thought I was getting a whole set, but actually I have a few of each series( it had been a while since I have read them, so I am on the lookout for the rest so I can give them to my daughter. Have a great weekend. Jackie

Ok, I meant to say neat. I have lots of clear plates and punch cups that I use instead of paper, but yours definitely have more character.

They're adorable. They remind me of the soup mug/bread plate combos that were popular a few years back.

Those are great snack plates, I found a set of 12 milk glass plates and cups a while back, and just LOVE them, our local Goodwill has glass ones all the time, but I had never seen milk glass. Just might have to start picking up the clear glass, why not mix and match!

Those are great. I might look for some myself.

Ok, now you have gone and done it! I have about 12-16 of these sets (some of both patterns shown) and I was planning to get rid of them at my massive garage sale. But now I am rethinking that and will probably keep them. As you said, it is way better than using paper!

Dang it people! DH & I inherited so many odds and ends from our parents' estates and we are totally out of storage room. So I was planning this mother of all garage sales - and now y'all are showing me more uses of a lot of this stuff. I need more storage space!!!!! And HOW do I explain all this to hubby?????

Those dishes are really nice to have and a great find. I can remember many birthdays, showers, etc. where my mother served food on plates almost like those. They are much nicer than paper plates and economical because you don't have to buy paper products.

I too have a set of 12! The ones I have are the rectangular shaped w/ the glass ball trim. I love them!!! It has taken me 5 years and lots of different shops to collect all 24 pieces. I am still looking for more!

I use these 50's snack sets too. I have a collection that includes the punch bowl, trays, nuts and etc dishes. I love that the cups match the punch bowl so I don't have to carry so many sets around. I love your patterns. You will love them for the tea.

I see these sets alot at Goodwill believe it or not, even if they just have the plates you can always add in plain punch cups which are so easy to find. Love your Blog, just found it... !
