Other Guestroom

This room is tiny to say the least. Originally it was a TV room with the leather chair and ottoman, that is in our room, being in here. That made it much more spacious but no body ever watched TV in there because it didn't have tivo. Can you say spoiled?!

So we moved an antique iron bed, that we had in the attic, in here. I have always loved this bed. Probably because the summer before I moved into my first college apartment, my dad and I spend countless hours sanding, priming, and painting this bed. I found it in my grandparent's barn and it was solid rust. And I do mean solid.
Here is that giant green cabinet that we all know and love. Maybe without that in here it would seem a lot bigger but it is not going anywhere!
Here is the tiny TV with no tivo. That lamp shade is very blah. It needs some trim or something. Also, Kimba would have that table spray painted in a heartbeat. It is one of those old cherry tables from Bombay. Definitely not my style but I'm scared to paint it. I really want to though! Would I have to sand it? That would take forevs.
Here is a little metal letter I got at Oops for 65 cents. I added the ribbon to make it sorta look like a tassel. I am no Susie Harris or Nester that's for sure!
Dining room to come.

Love that green cupboard!! As for sanding the table, what about liquid sandpaper? I've never used it but my mom swears by it.

Your home is beautiful! I've been getting some good ideas for my home from your home tour.
I think I'm going to plan our next vacation so that we end up in Arkansas, just so I can go visit Oops! I so wish we had a store like that here in southeastern Kentucky!

This bedroom is delightful as the first. Probably the main thing about the table is it would have to be rough sanded for the paint to adhere.

What a welcoming and sweet room! I love the bedding and the hydrangea sheets. I would love to know where you got those! We have a bedroom set that is the same finish as your table. I was told that you just need to sand it down to get the paint to stick and then a light coat of primer. Good luck!

Beautiful! Oooooohhhh! I see my green cupboard in there (yes, I did say MY...I have a special connection with it, I'm not gonna lie...I fantasize about that green cupboard!! haha!) And that bed is GREAT! And it's even better that you found it in a barn! A family barn, no less! And resurrected her to new glory! I love it!

Love it! I WANT that green cupboard! Where did you get it? I have a couple of pieces from Bombay too that I have been thinking about painting but I am a little afraid to. Let me know what you do with it. I have an old brass bed from when I was younger that I want to paint. Would that be the same as the one you painted? I need some advice! Julie

Beautiful room. I love the bed and the bedding. And, of course, the green cabinet.

The table is cute! I'd have that puppy painted in a heartbeat (if I thought it didn't work in the room). Honestly, I'd just spray it with a few good coats of primer then spray on the color I wanted.

I'm sure people who really knew what they were doing would tell you to sand it and do all sorts of complicated prep. But I figure it's just a little side table. It's not like it will get a ton of wear and tear. I could never be bothered to sand an entire table. :-)

I think the letter "tassel" is just fine the way it is...no further frills needed! :)

Hey Shannon!
I am so loving the tour. I love the nest picture with the quote. I saw that same pic at Hobby Lobby the other day and almost bought it...I do have the same Ballard Designs shower curtain as you in a taupe color. I think we are "birds of a feather." Oh...I am going to spray paint my entry way table black this week and if it turns out good I will have to e-mail you a pic. Can't wait for the rest of the tour!

I went through all the rroom pics and I must say--from your blog, one would never guess your home to be so--white. I love the black armoire. You are right-that bathroom could use some mantle lamps. And that shade that you think is blah, glue some trim or fringe or beads on it. It will be real cute. For painting, you just need to rough it up enough to get tooth for the paint to adhere. I think things are lovely. You have a nice collection of items. Good job. Oops must be the best store!

We are all officially jealous of the green cupboard. What do you mean you are no Nester...your "tassle" is great! The room doesn't feel small at all. It's feels very cozy.

I came across your blog tonight after a friend sent me a link. I am in NWA and often mention my love of Oops too. I love Oops, but I am a diehard thrifter and yard saler. Stop by for a visit sometime!
