Living Room

I haven't been doing much lately so it has been a pretty slow blogging week. I'm trying to save gas and money by not shopping so much lately, much to Cody's delight. Some people have been wanting a picture tour of our house so I thought I would go ahead and do that. I love seeing other people's houses so let me know if you want to give a tour!
Our ceilings are pretty tall so it took a year to convince Cody to paint the walls. I knew I wanted to paint it my favorite color, Pratt and Lambert Peanut Shell. I really like it now. Before it was just builder beige. It made a huge difference. Cody claims the only thing in the house that is "his" are his dvds. His only opinion about everything was that he wanted to SEE them, not have them hidden away in baskets. I guess I could give him that. :)
You can get usually get this color from Lowe's or Sherwin Williams if you don't have a store that sells Pratt and Lambert. They will have the color code. It looks pretty bright in the pictures but I think it is a great golden neutral.
I have always had trouble finding pillows for our couch. I don't know why! It drives me crazy though.
We recently put down this rug. My boss is a vendor for Sams and Walmart and sells rugs so he gave us this great rug based on the colors I told him. I think it is a pretty good match. I'm used to it now but I don't know if I liked it better with or without it. What do you think? Just imagine it without the rug...I didn't post a before picture.
Please look how skinny our mantel is. Weird!
This was a hard room to arrange the furniture in because there are really only one and a half walls. This is the best we could come up with. I almost had a nervous breakdown when we moved in because we just couldn't figure it out. :) It was a late night.
Whenever I can find some fabric I like I plan on doing some mistreatments in here. I just having a hard time picking out fabric. Solid? Stripe? Floral? Pattern? Help! I counted 10 things in this room from Oops. I should buy stock in that store!
If you want to see some rooms I've posted about in the past you can find them here:

P.S. Thank you all SO much for wishing me a happy birthday!! I had a great day and loved all your sweet comments!

Love the living room..Mine isn't as "decorated"..(KIDS)
Maybe one day I'll post on my living room.
As for your windows. How about a nice long panel, maybe two toned solids. JCPENNEY has some really great ones!
A nice stripe would be pretty too..

Thanks for the living room tour! I love it! You really have a knack for decorating... everything looks so nice and put together.

I think I actually like those windows in your living room without window treatments! Is that nuts? lol

I know what you mean about having so few walls to work with in your living room. I have one real wall...the other is covered in fireplace- just like yours. I have one way- and one way only- to arrange the furniture.

Very pretty. I love seeing people's houses, too. I do a solid window treatment with some neat trim. They're more likely to stand the test of time if you ever want to change out your pillows or other decor.

Thanks for sharing those pictures of your living space. I could tell it was beautiful from previous snippits in other posts. I am not talented in the decorating area for sure, but I like the rug too. I would like to post some of mine, but yours puts it to shame.

Shannon,

Your house is beautiful! I also had a hard time finding pillows for my couch. I finally went every Ross and Marshalls in my area and bought every pillow I liked. Then I took them home and tried them all out. Kept a few and took the rest back. Sounds like a lot of work but I was desperate for couch pillows.

Thanks for sharing your home. It looks great. We built a lot of houses and I can't figure out the skinny mantel. I guess it's a way to save money (for the builder). I really like the rug. I gives the room some more dimension. Looks great!

I love your living room! And I really love that wall color! It looks great with everything. I have the hardest time decorating mantles, and I have a normal sized one...Ever since I saw your's with those topiaries, I've kept my eye out for some! :o)

Hey, where were you with that lovely peanut shell colour when I was trying to decide on a colour for my living room? Kidding, I love the colour I chose. It's similar, but maybe a bit darker. I really like your living room! It's the same colour scheme as mine. I love the rug, it's exactly the kind I want to get someday. I posted a couple of pictures of my living room the other day. I plan to post more once we're done installing the laminate in the hall.

Love your decorating. I think the rug should stay. It adds something to the room. At a decorating seminar I attended, they say up to 5 prints per room as long as they blend. So, whatever fabric you run across and it blends go for it. Your curtains will be great.

Love your room. Your mantle is skinny, but it looks good the way you have it. I love the colors of your rooms. Have a great weekend!
