Guestroom

Continuing the tour, lets go on in the guestroom. This is what you see when you turn the corner at the end of the hall and head into the room.

I still don't have a headboard for this bed but that is something that I will probably just stumble upon one day. I don't ever set out for the day looking for one. I know I'll find the perfect one at the perfect time.

Since I got my black cabinet in the office we moved the ladder shelf in here. It is not the ideal situation but it is definitely livable.
This mirror was a part of my childhood furniture set. My mom got the whole suite when she was about 13 or 14 and I used it when I was little. I never realized how convenient a full size mirror was until I went somewhere that didn't have one. I found that little child's chair at a flea market for about eleven dollars.
I guess I'm always buying furniture for my birthday. This year I got the black cabinet in the office and last year I bought this bookcase. Lesson learned from buying out of a catalog: things always look bigger in the catalog. Oh well.
I found this sweet little plate a couple of weeks ago at an antique store for three dollars. You can't really tell but the picture is of a cabin in the woods with two kids playing in the grass. Those candlesticks used to be brass but I just spray painted them black.
The two pictures on this wall are from antique stores also. The one up top is my favorite because it is a hand drawn picture of an Amish family and their farmhouse. It is so simple and beautiful. Another guestroom and dining room to come.

I love those hooks, and what you've hung on it! I'm always seeing cute things like that, but tend not to buy them because I don't really need them. But that's adorable - I'll keep that idea in mind for the future!

I love the room, but I'm in LOVE with the closet doors! They are so charming. Did you make the red gingham (I think) duvet cover? I'm hoping you say yes, 'cause I'm thinking of tackling that project. Cute room!

Beautiful guest room and just my style, very relaxing. Can't wait to see the next one. I have a room without a headboard that I will be working on soon too, but yours looks just great even without a headboard.

Beautiful. I love how you have furniture from your Mom... Thats sweet! You know I see brass all the time at the goodwill and just pass it up... I paint everything else in the house. I didnt think to paint over brass till you showed us the light, hehe... Thanks! Susie h~

I love that room...... I dont know what you have in mind for a headboard or if this is even your style, but I have seen an old wooden door turned sideways and hung on the wall as a headboard. You could paint it satin black and rough it up or whatever..... like I said, I dont know- but it was a thought :)

Your home is beautiful, you have a great knack for style!

Another beautiful room. I just love your little tours.

Thanks for letting us snoop and thanks for the spray painting idea. I've got lots of brass things packed away because I didn't like them but when we move, I'm going to have a painting party.
