Dining Room

The last room on the house tour is our dining room. When we moved in we painted the walls Mud Slide from Lowes. Boy was that project. Four coats later this is what we got.

We also changed out the light fixture because the builder put in a white 6-light chandelier. It was way too small for the space and really ugly.

My mom's parents gave us this dining room set that they purchased 48 years ago. I love the french curves. We just reupholstered the chairs for the first time this year. I guess when you only use something once a year it really holds up!
When we moved in, the builder beige on the walls made the furniture blend in, but since we painted the walls brown it actually stands out a lot more.
We hosted Thanksgiving dinner here this past year and got to use all our china and crystal for the first time. It was pretty special to have my grandparents eating on their table in our house.

Hope you enjoyed the tour! I really enjoy seeing your houses and get inspiration from everyone. Thank you for all your sweet comments!!

What about the master bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, hallway, foyer, etc? I love seeing your decorating style and don't want to miss an inch of your home!! (Is that horribly nosey of me?!)

I can only imagine how special it is to have your grandparents at your house at that dining set. I dream of being gifted my grandmother's dining set...truly dream about it.

Beautiful dining room and the brown really shows off your furniture. You have done a great job decorating, and you have given me a few ideas to repurpose some things that I already have.

Can you believe it? All at ONE Goodwill. I do believe that is why they had the sheriff there...all the crazy designer blog stalkers...hee hee
Come on over, I'd love to host you...I'll get one of these rooms ready for you. Arkansas to NC...hmm...how many hours do I have?:)
BTW, I love the "word" plaques that you have. Did you pick them up along the way or one specific place. I love the "Family" one in the kitchen.

I love that color on the walls. I would love to do that but I am so afraid it would close in the room and make it dark. However, yours looks bright and great. I need to get over these phobias.LOL

Very pretty! You were very brave to go with such a bold color and it's so lovely. I really like it with the lighter colored curtains and it makes the wood stand out nicely.

Your dining room is gorgeous. The brown is a great color to go with. Like someone else mentioned, dark colors kind of scare me so I tend to lean towards lighter tones. I love the story about the table. It's so great to have stories to go along with the pieces we love!

I love it! What a great room to celebrate family dinners! Especially on your china and crystal and a table that has seen so many other family feasts! :o)

WHERE did you find that wire cloche on the center of the table? It's perfect! If you tell me you got it at Oops, I'm gonna go all mad-cow...

Ohhh I love that deep brown.. Very rich indeed. I think that is so neat how you have your fruit in little nest..(cute)! Hang on to that furniture.. It probably was built right. Not like the mess you get today...Dont you just love taking peeks into everyones homes... It's so much fun. I should have started this years ago. Just think.. The only peeping I use to do was when I walked my dog and someone had their lamps on and the curtains open.. I only peeped from the road, smiless... Susie h~
