Weekend Project

While Cody was busy hanging this owl where everyone in the world can see it...
I was busy doing this:
I took an old window from our first house and had Cody break four of the panes. Then I gave the window a quick coat of cream paint and painted some unfinished picture frames black.
I then put some green scrapbook paper in the frames with some wedding photos.
I painted the top side panes with chalkboard paint and tied a letter with ribbon in the middle pane.
I secured the frames and letter with a piece of ribbon and upholstery tacks.
One of our guest rooms is more of a shabby chic look so I thought it would look good in there.
A couple of years ago Oops had these platters for $2.00 so I bought like 6 and hung one over the window.
I could see keeping all the panes in and painting them all in chalkboard paint. Or hanging a picture frame in all the spaces. I'm sure you all could share some great ideas you could do with an old window.
PS The owl is NOT working!!

SUPER CUTE!! I love this!!! I absolutely love old windows. There are so many great things you can do with them. When I lived in Michigan I knew just the places to find them...not the case here in Texas. I'm on the hunt! I might even need to "steal" your idea. :)
As for the sunflowers....plant them! We love them! My husband bought the ones that are huge!!! They are taller than our 7 ft privacy fence. I'll have to post some more recent ones. :)
Good luck with the owl.

Very cute--
Can you tell me where Oops is? Do they have a website? It looks like a great place to shop.

I love that idea! I love the tour of OOPS(wish we had one here) and am so sorry to hear that the owl isn't working. Everyone told us to paint the ceiling of our porch blue. We did. It worked about as good as the owl. I am telling you...invest in umbrellas! :D

What a fun little project! I love that you were able to preserve a piece of your old house to take with you, and you were able to turn it into some chic decor. :) I really like how you added the D and used the ribbon as your "picture hangers." It turned out great!

I just found your blog and love it! This idea is great. I have an old transom window from 2 houses ago that would look great like this and hung over my desk (unless my husband finally snuck it to the dump like he has threatened for 8 years). Thanks for the inspiration. I will be back, JoAnne

Wow, this is great! I have some old windows in my garage, and have been saving them for some kind of wall display in my bedroom. I also have some great picture frames and photos/art I want to use - just waiting for inspiration on how to put it all together! This gives me lots of great ideas - thanks!

I LOVE this idea! I'm so glad I found your blog. This is exactly what I've been wanting to do (was planning on keeping the glass in and putting the pictures behind each pane) but I like your idea much better. Mind if I "borrow" it? :) Thanks for the inspiration!
