Project & Friend

I have been wanting to try this in my house for years. Inside my pantry door I thought a chalk board would be cute but didn't want to hang one because it would bounce around when I opened and closed the door.
So I decided to just paint one with chalkboard paint. I just taped off the edges and gave it a few coats. Now, where to store the chalk???
The best part of the weekend was my best friend Christina and her baby coming to visit. We have been best friends since 7th grade and I hadn't seen Jay since he was born.
He is now five months and cute as ever. Such a happy boy and always smiling!
We had a fun weekend just talking (until 3am) and of course shopping. We went to go to Oops and found some great stuff. It was a great weekend!

Shannon - I'm new to your blog but am enjoying it so much! I tie chalk onto one end of some string and a tack on the other, then tack it next to the chalkboard...and a little piece of 3/4" trim turned on its side (does that make sense??) makes a perfect little chalk tray. Anyway, looks perfect!

OH - I love the chalk paint!!! So cute! I that works perfect in a kitchen - I've seen that in a lot of different ways and love it!
I got the yellow dress at forever 21 - I ordered it off their web site (instead of the store).

Hi Shannon :)

That baby is so cute!!

You did a great job with the chalkbord. I think you could hang a little box or something to hold the chalk in, on the inside of the closet.

Have a great day!

I love the chalkboard, too. Do you remember those chalk holders our teachers used so their fingers wouldn't get chalky? I could see putting a little velcro on the back of a chalk holder and placing it there on the cabinet beside your chalkboard. You could do the same thing with a little eraser. Also, you could make a little bag to hang from the inside door handle to store extra chalk.

What a great idea! I love your chalk board! I've been tossing around the idea of using chalkboard paint on my daughter's door, but we don't have pretty pannelled doors like you do.

Great job on the chalkboard, Shannon! I'll bet if you went to Lowe's they would have something that would work for your chalk. It certainly wouldn't need to be anything heavy. P.S. That baby is adorable!
